Wise Advanced has recently introduced an upgraded line of SD cards with V90 video speed class. These new cards come in 128, 256, and an impressive 512GB size option and can guarantee a minimum sustained write speed of 90MB/s. The cards are now available for pre-order starting at $159.99.
With the majority of camera manufacturers adopting the CFexpress standard – and with SD Express right around the corner – this product release by Taiwanese company Wise Advanced seems a little anachronistic. However, there’s a reason behind it.
Indeed, according to Wise Advanced’s Product Manger Frank Wang, the choice was partially dictated by Apple’s re-introduction of the UHS-II card slot on the latest MacBook Pro models. Thus, the company believes there’s still a market for the SDXC standard. So, let’s take a quick look at these new Wise Advanced V90 SD cards.
Wise Advanced 128, 256 and 512GB SD cards: V90 video class
These new SDXC UHS-II V90 U3 Class 10 memory cards come in three different flavours: 128, 256 and 512GB. According to the company, the high-capacity 512GB version is a world’s first for these characteristics. The development of this large-sized model was made possible by newer chips, software, and 3D NAND flash memory technology.
All three cards feature a V90 video speed class rating that guarantees a minimum write speed of 90MB/s. Furthermore, all versions offer maximum read and write speeds of 290 and 260MB/s, respectively. These specs make them suitable for 4K and 360° video recording, and even 8K capture in some cases.
Like most SD cards, these new Wise Advanced products feature a built-in write-protect switch. Moreover, they also bring some peace of mind by being water, dust, x-ray, and shock-resistant. Finally, all cards are compatible with the Wise Advanced Dual UHS-II SD card reader released last year.
