The media could not be loaded. After many years of enjoying my Epson 2150 Home Cinema and my SONY STR-DN1080, I decided to upgrade to a 4K projector. I use my projector as a television, to watch movies, sports, etc., on a daily basis. Upgrading to a 4K projector required me ass well to upgrade my home theatre receiver to 4K. Both of my previous devices were 1080. I upgraded my receiver to a Sony STR-AN1000 7.2 Channel (7 x 165 Watt) Surround Sound Home Theater 8K A/V Receiver and my projector to a LG CineBeam UHD 4K projector. Immediately upon connecting my new 4K devices, I experienced difficulties. The picture was jumpy and intermittent, and I could not seamlessly switch from one input on my new home theater to another. Before the upgrade, I would regularly switch among all of my playback and streaming devices. I started panicking thinking I would have to return all of my new equipment, reconnect my old home theater receiver, and put my old projector back into the ceiling. I decided to call customer support. First, I called LG support. Then I called SONY support. The SONY tech support figured out that the SONY equipment was working properly, but that the LG projector was not receiving the signals from my various devices. He told me the problem was that I needed also to upgrade my HDMI cable to a high-speed 4k cable. That immediately freaked me out because I have a 100 ft cable embedded in a ceiling that had been finished over the cable. No way I was going to rip apart the ceiling (thousands of dollars) to replace the HDMI cable. But his insight set me in the right direction. I did some online research and came across a solution that worked perfectly. Rather than tearing up my ceiling to install a new, high-speed HDMI 4K cable, I invested $39.00 in a HDMI 2.0 Repeater. This super mini HDMI repeater works by decoding and then re-encoding the HDMI signal to a new standard HDMI signal. It also extends the range of the signal. I was now getting perfect pictures from my Firestick and Fite TV Cube and was able to switch freely between them. I changed some of the display settings in the Fire Stick and Amazon Cube. However, I could not pick up the Xfinity TV signal on my LG 4K receiver. Picking up that signal required one last piece of equipment upgrade. I called Comcast technical support and determined that swapping out my Xfinity 1080 boxes for 4K boxes was an option available to me. Therefore, I returned my Xfinity 1080 cable box and swapped it out for an Xfinity 4K cable TV box. Problem solved. Now, I am receiving a perfect 4K image on the LG from all devices, and I can easily switch from one to the other. Now, let’s talk about the SONY STR-AN1000 features.SONY STR-AN1000This is a powerful and well-engineered home theater receiver. For me, the only reason to buy this receiver at this point in time was to upgrade my TV/ home theater watching from 1080 to 4K. My SONY 1080 still works fine. I have to figure out what I am going to do with it. The surround sound is awesome on the new STR-AN1000. It has this new Dolby Speaker Virtualization sound field simulation that totally immerses you in surround sound. You can control the SONY STR-AN1000 with your smartphone using the SONY Music Center App. There are plenty of digital and music streaming options. You have multi-room audio and video options using zone 2 and zone 3 outputs. Six HDMI inputs allow you to connect all of your media playback and streaming devices – Blue Ray player, Fire Stick, Fire TV Cube, ROKU Streaming stick, Cable/satellite TV Box, etc. Like my previous STR-DN1080, I can connect 7 speaker sets, including 2 sub-woofers. You can change the settings or switch from one input source to another easily. The on-screen display lets you make adjustments to your settings while looking at your TV screen. You can connect to the internet wirelessly or via an ethernet port. The only major feature this receiver is lacking is a phono input. I don’t mind that because I have another receiver from which to connect my turntables or record players. The remote control is much smaller than previous SONY home theater receiver remotes, making it more user-friendly and easier to understand. The Audio Return Channel (ARC and eARC) allows you to set your system up without the need for an optical audio cable. In my case, that means I don’t have to run an extra cable into the ceiling for the audio to work because the ARC and eARC transmit the audio signal. This receiver is capable of upscaling your video to both 4K and 8K. However, in my case, I found it necessary to get an Xfinity 4K cable box to watch my Xfinity programming. I am totally, 100 percent pleased with my SONY STR-AN1000 4K/8K home theater receiver. This is the fourth SONY home theater receiver I have owned. I have no complaints. The picture quality passed through from all of my playback devices to my LG 4K projector is stunning. There are so many other features to this receiver; however, those are best explained by an audio/video expert. There are many such reviews available online. But if you are a layperson like I am and you want to know whether this STR-AN1000 home theater is a good investment, my answer, based on a few weeks of viewing and my over a decade of experience with other home theater receivers, is that this is a very good investment. The quality and features you are getting are well worth the purchase price, and I am confident you will be watching a TV or projector hooked up to this home theater system for many years to come. I highly recommend it.

When my beloved Sony STR-DN1080 receiver finally gave up the ghost, I felt a mix of sadness and anticipation – sad to see an old friend go, but excited about what new tech I could bring into my home. After much research, I settled on the Sony STR-AN1000, and let me tell you, it was a decision I don’t regret for a second. From the moment I unboxed this sleek, modern receiver, I knew I was in for a treat. The setup was a breeze, intuitive enough that I didn’t have to refer to the manual once. But it’s the sound quality where the STR-AN1000 really shines. The clarity and depth it brings to music and movies are nothing short of astounding. Watching my favorite films, I felt like I was in the cinema, every sound effect and musical note resonating with crystal-clear precision. What really stands out is the receiver’s ability to make even my old speakers sound new. It’s like this receiver has breathed new life into my entire audio system. But it’s not just about the sound. The user interface is intuitive and easy to navigate, making adjusting settings or switching inputs a hassle-free experience. And, the connectivity options are plentiful, ensuring all my devices can be hooked up without any issues. In conclusion, the Sony STR-AN1000 isn’t just a worthy successor to my old receiver – it’s a significant upgrade. For anyone looking to elevate their home audio experience, this is, without doubt, a fantastic choice. It’s transformed my living room into a personal cinema, and I couldn’t be happier with it.

This pumps out high quality sound while staying quiet. Plenty of connections and the auto switching works flawlessly with my tv.

Works as a perfect match for my Klipsch 5.1 Atmos surround sound speakers. Bass hits hard and sounds better than a movie theatre. More than enough HDMI inputs and flawless absolute sound with no unwanted noise.

This replaced my underpowered 75W Denon 760H and boy am I glad it did. The best thing about this receiver is that it has plenty of power now for my Jamos Concert Series C97II in 5.1 mode as those required some juice that Denon struggled with. If I went with Klipsch speakers from the start I think I would be fine but the more juice the better. The Sony Easysetup is actually really easy and not complicated at all and the UI is much better than Denon’s. I also have the Bravia Sony OLED and I did not even know that it integrated with the receiver. I now can control my sound modes from the TV remote through the TV UI. I highly recommend if you have a Sony Bravia TV and speakers that need juice to get a Sony AVR. This one does not disappoint and it sounds way better, clear difference.

First, I like that it was delivered without any damage to the outer box. Everything else, much more expensive, looked like it was rolled down a mountain side by the time it gets to my front door. I’m not sure this thing is made for 4 ohms speakers like the Polk R 700’s. I saw a reviewer say it was lacking in the power so I do have an amplifier on the way. And I’m being careful not to turn the volume up for too long. I had to return a damaged Denon 6700 and had nothing to listen to and decided to buy this Sony just to get me through. The Denon never made these speakers come alive like this Sony. My mouth dropped open when the speakers sent the music into my body at 42 volume level. It wasn’t like the DT DM70 speakers which sent the music into the walls, shaking and the house rattling, but a laser beam aimed at me on the sofa. It hasn’t been 24 hours yet but this lil Sony is the truth. I was ready to spend thousands on something ‘nicer’. I think I’m going to go ahead and stop right here. You will need a measuring tape to set the unit up properly, and there will be an update waiting when you first connect to the internet. Con: Remote doesn’t have backlighting but I control the unit from my phone so it’s a non factor for me. Disclaimer: Polk 700 are 4ohm speakers and could potentially ruin this Sony unit that is rated at 6-16ohm. I’m just lightly testing it out until my external amplifier arrives. This thing would work perfectly with Klipsch speakers as they are mostly 8ohm.

Bought this out of necessity and am quite pleased with sound quality. For most of us, it needs to be installed by a knowledgeable technician.

Messed up with the first unit and ended up returning it (user Ignorance turns out), Did my homework with the 2nd unit and did everything right this time and couldn’t be more “Happier”. This AN1000 has “Crisp & Clear” sound reproduction like unto a Live Performance !!! All Vocals and Instruments life like/real reproduction sound. Fills the room with Wonderful Sound – You Can’t Go Wrong ( just follow directions to a “T”) !!! Speaker setup 30 year old/Antique Infinty Gold Crescendo series set. Purchased New 1993 2- cs3009s, 2- cs3008s, 4-cs3007s, 4-cs3006s, 1-csCenter, 2- BU2 Powered Subs (2-3006s, 2-3007s & csCenter in my Master Bedroom AV setup ) Had a True Surround back in those days ( And plenty of money to spend ). New Home won’t allow me such a surround setup so I am confined to as pictured but with Atmos, Spatial and 360 it produces a surround effect. 7.1 Set Up Speaker Levels in Setup set at Front L/R 0.0 dB, Center -2.5 dB, Surround L/R -1.0 dB, 2-L/R Subs ( set at different Frequency’s, With adjustable volume controls), 2.5 dB, Rear R/L 2.0 dB ( Small Wireless powered Sony Rears 50w each, with independent signal reception and don’t have to be hard wired to each other R to L, only $300 Pair and sound OK serve their purpose). Large 4 Crescendos my normal rears stacked in garage for now. Equalizer setup equal High Treble, Low Bass setting (My speakers are Bass Beast), Center set 2 bars higher on Treble. Prefer Dolby Atmos Surround setting on Receiver ( 360 not avail. With Dolby). Run my system at 35-40 volume ( as loud as I can stand it), for 6-8 hours a day and with my top vent fan setup (as pictured) vented top stays Cool to the touch. Try it if you feel you are having heat issues and it will extend your AV Recievers Life – “Happy Rocking” !! Pictures may come into full view if you turn your phone sideways while viewing them ???

I upgraded from a STR-DH550 I Wanted the 4k120 this model provides. Sound quailty is good and the remote is decent , I mostly use the remote for volume adjustment as the one on the unit seems to be not accurate maybe its because im just not using it.The one downfall is the faceplate, while it offers a lot of new features the faceplate look is exactly like my old 550, Sony needs to freshen there product line looks a bit, plus Sony if your listening in at this price point your competitors also have at least 3 HDMI ports that support 4k120 while 2 is all I needed just and FYI.I have this mated to a Bravia 42″ X85-K which is what I use for a PC/Gaming console monitorOver all I’m pleased with it.

I don’t know that I dislike anything so far. That may change and I’ll have to update this review.I feel Sony really knew what they were doing when they designed this model. My hope is that it doesn’t show any failure after a few months use. This is one powerful unit at 165w per channel. The bass response is actually too powerful for my two subwoofers. One is a 200 w unit and the other is 100 w. It provides a bass response I can actually feel now. The Denon I had before didn’t match even close. Good thing I don’t live in an apartment. The spacial feature I like for immersive sound. It does a good job at that but I don’t like is it shuts down about half the bass response while in this mode. So I probably won’t use this feature much. I haven’t had the reciever long enough yet to know if there is a way to increase the bass response through the subwoofers only when in the spacial mode. If I increase the subwoofer response to match the spacial mode, then it’s too much for my subwoofers to handle while listening in normal mode. I am using a 7.1 surround setup. The unit really sets up the speakers well but you need to pay attention to the setup on screen directions for the configuration mic very carefully in order for have the surround sound effect sound the way you want it to be.Other than that, I would strongly suggest this purchase for other buyers.Because if it’s powerful output, for me, the unit doesn’t have to work hard to put out maximum loudness through my 100 w speakers. Therefore, it doesn’t get extremely hot as other units seem to.On the comments about having to point the remote directly at the unit, I’ve had to do this with every reciever I’ve owned. So this isn’t a problem with me. Just saying.
