There has almost certainly never been a game that has gotten so many people excited with so little. The first we heard of Starfield was just a name and vague impression that it was going to be a space game. Even when a trailer expanded more on the concept, it gave us little more than a look at a single character and a planet. Despite this, it’s easily one of the games that are getting folks most excited in 2022.
With so much anticipation riding on the game, Bethesda needs to bring their a-game, especially since this will be their first development for their new paymaster Microsoft. If you’re just too hyped to even stand it right now, then you can calm yourself down by reading some of the release information that we’ve gathered for you down below.
Starfield Release Date
The original announcement for Starfield happened back in 2018. At the time, the trailer simply showed off the horizon of a planet, before the camera panned down to show a random space station, and the title was revealed. That was pretty much all we had to go on, but for some reason it really stood out in the minds of many.
Since then, we’ve had a couple of more snippets in the form of a teaser trailer, but the most compelling piece of information was the release date itself. At the end of the teaser, Bethesda revealed that the game would be hitting Xbox Series X/S and Microsoft Windows on November 11th, 2022. You can apparently be pretty sure of it as well because Bethesda themselves have gone on record as being “confident of the date”
Starfield Everything We Know So Far
Despite all the hype and the release date that is less than a year away, we’ve still technically got no idea what sort of gameplay Starfield could feature. Having said that, we have had a few clues here and there. Firstly, Todd Howard said that the game was basically Skyrim in Space. So chances are that it’s going to be a first-person RPG, but with spaceships and futuristic tech included as well.
Secondly, we know that the atmosphere for the game was taken from Planet 10, a canceled space-combat title Bethesda was working on back in the late 90s. With that in mind, it seems like ship-to-ship combat is going to play at least a decent part in what Starfield is all about. Other than that, we’ve all been left wondering what the game is actually going to be like. With any luck, we’ll get a proper gameplay reveal later this year.
Check out the teaser below if this info hasn’t been enough to hold you over. It might not feature gameplay, but we know that the cutscene was made in-game, so at least the graphics look decent.
