Sigma unveils its 16mm, 30mm and 56mm F1.4 primes for Fujifilm X-mount cameras: Digital Photography Review

Sigma has announced the release of three new F1.4 prime lenses for Fujifilm X-mount camera systems. The 16mm F1.4 DC DN, 30mm F1.4 DC DN and 56mm F1.4 DC DN mark Sigma’s first offerings for Fujifilm’s APS-C interchangeable lens camera system and are nearly identical to their predecessors, which were previously released for Canon EF-M mount, L-mount, Micro Four Thirds and Sony E-mount cameras.

All three of these lenses have been optimized for use with Fujifilm X-mount camera systems. Specifically, Sigma says the ‘control algorithm, including AF drive and communication speed optimization, has been developed specifically for X mount interchangeable lenses.’ All lenses work with Continuous AF (AF-C) and include support for built-in aberration correction on supported X-mount cameras.

The Sigma 16mm F1.4 DC DN lens for Fujifilm X-mount is constructed of 16 elements in 13 groups, including two FLD elements, two super low-dispersion (SLD) elements and two aspherical elements. It features a nine-blade aperture diaphragm, offers a minimum focusing distance of 25cm (9.8in), has an aperture range of F1.4 through F16 and uses a 67mm front filter thread.

The X-mount version of the lens measures 72.2mm (2.8”) in diameter, 92.6mm (3.6”) long and weighs 405g (14.3oz).

30mm F1.4 DC DN | C

56mm F1.4 DC DN | C

The Sigma 56mm F1.4 DC DN lens for Fujifilm X-mount is constructed of ten elements in six groups, including one super low-dispersion (SLD) element and one aspherical elements. It features a nine-blade aperture diaphragm, offers a minimum focusing distance of 50cm (19.7in), has an aperture range of F1.4 through F16 and uses a 55mm front filter thread.

The X-mount version of the lens measures 66.5mm (2.6”) in diameter, 59.8mm (2.4”) long and weighs 280g (9.9oz).

Availability and Pricing

All three lenses are set to be available in April 2022 at authorized Sigma retailers. No pricing information has been provided at this time, but it’s likely each lens will retail for the same price the other mount versions launched at. That would leave the 16mm F1.4 at $449, the 30mm F1.4 at $339 and the 56mm F1.4 at $479.

Sigma also says it intends to expand its X-mount lineup, with the next planned release being an X-mount version of the 18–50mm F2.8 DC DN, which is currently available for L-mount and Sony E-mount, and is set to be released in December 2022.
