This Cable Matters cable promises 10ft of Micro USB 3.0 goodness, but does it hold up? Here’s the quick and dirty:Pros:Lengthy Legs: 10 ft! Charge and connect your devices from across the room, no problem.Speed Demon: SuperSpeed USB 3.0 delivers fast data transfer for external drives and speedy charging.Tough Cookie: Double-braided nylon and gold-plated connectors promise long-lasting durability.Tangle Tamer: Flexible cable design resists annoying knots and kinks.Cons:Stiff Start: New cable can be a bit stiff initially, requiring some breaking in.Bulky Buddy: The thick connector head might not fit all cases tightly.Micro Blues: Micro USB, while still useful, isn’t the latest tech on the block.Verdict:This Cable Matters cord stretches your reach and data transfer speeds for Micro USB devices. Its durable build and tangle-free design make it a reliable choice for everyday use. However, the initial stiffness, bulky connector, and outdated Micro USB standard might give you pause. In short:Get it if: You need a long, durable cable for charging and data transfer with Micro USB devices.Skip it if: You prioritize a slim, flexible cable, use USB-C devices, or don’t need 10 ft of reach

This thing is so fast, and so cheap! I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and have always used the charger that came with it. After several years of use, i noticed that my phone kept saying that it’s doing slow charging, and to switch to the charging cord that came with my phone – except i was already using that cord/charger. Then after another few months, one day it just stopped charging. I freaked out thinking the plug on my phone is dead, or something equally horrible because my phone is my life (how sad this is the current generation norm 🙁 ) and had all kinds of information that i’d need. I ended up switching just the cord section with a USB2.0 plug from something else and that worked fine, so it was definitely just the cord that was broken.I bought this since it’s cheap and i could use the second one as a backup or use at work. I was kind of surprised because the cord is a LOT thicker than my original samsung one and also pretty stiff. This felt like heavy duty HDMI cables (except it’s not). However, i was so impressed by the charging speed! My phone did not complain about slow charging, and it somehow feels like it charged faster than my original samsung cable (before it broke)? The plugs on either side appear to be made of much higher quality material and are very sturdy. It doesn’t look as nice as my samsung original but who cares, it’s cheap, i get 2 of them, and it does the job super well!

Cable Matters is a brand I keep coming back to whenever I need a cable, despite there being dozens of different brands available at Amazon, some even lower priced. The reason I keep buying them is that they are plain, simple, inexpensive, and never fail to work.I have found that USB 3.0 cables can be a little tricky. The end that goes into the device isn’t the most well designed fitting ever created. It rarely seems to “snap” into place, more like a loose fit. I use them for external hard drives and unfortunately that looseness and the inherent vibration of a hard drive sometimes causes a cable to fall out of the socket, which can be disastrous when I am in the midst of transferring a large and important file. The Cable Matters fittings are precision and definitely fit tighter than some brands I have used. I also like the blue color. I know that is strictly a personal preference and has nothing to do with performance but when you have a setup with numerous components connected it is great to be able to identify them (especially the most important ones) by color.I can’t comment on transfer speed but in actual use this cable seems to be just as fast as the shorter one that came with my drive. There may be sophisticated tests to evaluate such performance but I would suspect that if that is a serious issue with someone they wouldn’t be shopping for generic cables. This one is a 5-star performer.

These USB v3.0 data cables are perfect fit for the Seagate and Toshiba external hard disk drives. The original Seagate data cable got bent when the device fell hard from 34 inches from the table. The Seagate external hard disk drive survived the drop, but the data cable was damaged and yet there were no visible signs. When the original cable did not perform, have discovered the damage. Ordered replacement cables from a very well known company from the 1990s (Cable Matters) and this is their product. The data cables (two pack) arrived undamaged in great condition. When compared these data cables (blue color, easier to find in dim lit work areas) are two inches longer than the Seagate factory cables. These cables are thicker in diameter because they are better electrically insulated than the factory cable. The product performed without problems. Remember this is a USB v3.0 cable. The higher USB v3.0 (than USB v2.0) speed should have a shorter length than a standard USB v2.0 length cable. Just like SCSI cables, the higher the speed, the shorter the length must be. Users should measure their own brand of factory cables to determine whether its the correct length when these data cables arrive. Then compare both original factory cable with replacement cable. That difference can interfere with sustained data transfer speed. Which is why some buyers say a product did not perform for them. Users can always visit websites that have the USB v3.0 and USB v2.0 cable length specifications, try a duckduckgo.com search, or google search.

I have upgraded several computers over the years, and usually buy enclosures to convert the old hard drives to portable ones. When I upgraded to a new desktop a new desktop a few months ago, I decided to replace my older portable enclosures with newer USB 3.0 ones, in order to take advantage of the computer’s 3 USB 3.0 ports. As usual, the cables that came with them were very short, and had transfer speeds that didn’t even come close to those advertised.Pros:-Made by Cable Matters: In my experience, their cables are inexpensive and they stand by their products.-Solid construction and connection: These cables are sturdy throughout, especially where the cable meets the connectors. A lot of other cables are severely lacking in this area.-Performance: The length is as advertised. The cable has never been finicky, and has remained connected, even when the female connection to an external hard drive, for example,is weak. I’ve never gotten 5Gbps, but that’s most likely because of my hard drives rather than the cable. I average 3.5-3.7Gbps.-Packaging: This may seem insignificant to a lot of people, but one of the reasons I love Cable Matters products, is because they come packaged in a sturdy, reusable zipping bag that is great for transporting and storing when not in use.Cons:-The only slight con I can think of is that flexibility has been sacrificed for durability. It maintains it’s shape and natural curve, and as a result, is not easy to stuff in tight spots like a case or bag. That’s not how I operate, but for those who are constantly “on-the-go,” it might be a consideration.

I purchased a Western Digital My Passport for back up purposes. It came with about a 3-foot cord. As I operate off a desktop I needed a much longer cord to reach from top of desk to the tower which is under the desk. I was impressed with the ratings before I bought the Cable Matters and it’s lived up to the ratings. The cable connected snugly to the WD My Passport and the read time (backup) seems to fly by. Now that could be the speed of the chip in the Tower but I’m also giving credit to the Cable Matters. Felt very durable when I pulled it out of the package.Next time I need another cable, Cable Matters will be the first one’s I shop.

Got the USB A to USB Micro B, 15′ cable for controlling and transferring data from a Nikon D500. Tested with Backyard Nikon and APT software without issues. The cable is fairly thick and sturdy and the cost is right. I gave it 5 stars for durability, will update if necessary. I’m not charging the camera with this cable so leaving “charging power” with no stars. So far so good. Beats paying $50 for a 15′ Micro B from that other company if this continues to work as expected.

Not a limber cable, but it has survived me shutting the door on it several times with no problems. It is a very strong cable with large and strong wires, but they are not that flexible.the only issue with it is it is limber as uncooked spaghetti, it is a very stiff cable, and will slightly but if you need a durable cable in a more abusive environment, this cable would be hard to beat..However, if you like something soft and flexible, and non restraining as you use it, this would not be a good choice. In short, if you are in construction, and may slam the truck door occasionally on the cable, this cable has lived through it for me many times. However, most ladies instantly recognize the cables stiffness over the original cable and tend to not like it. I would also add this cable is probably too stiff for comfortable office work or home use.

So I wasn’t sure about this cord since the price was cheap. It is literally there thickest cord I’ve ever seen! I would compare it to the size of a cat 5 Internet cable and with the blue color it looks like it too. This may not seem like a good thing it being as thick as it is, but it really is great that it’s thick. The majority of phone charging problems come from broken or damaged internal wires inside of your phone charging cord. Anyone that has had a thin charging cord knows that the first part that starts to wear and break is about an inch below the plug that goes onto the phone.Well on this cord, there is a reinforced piece of plastic rubber like material that will prevent that from happening. Now to the plug itself….Everyone hates a loose plug that you have to wiggle around or hold only the right spot to get it to charge!! We’ll this plug’s metal is thick and the pins look heavy duty and became of that it is a nice, tight fit for my Galaxy Note 3.The charging speed for this cable is definitely faster too than the factory Samsung white cable that comes with the phone.I’d recommend ordering the 10 foot for a few cents more and then just using rubber bands to bundle it together. It will give you the option of having more cord it you need it but won’t be in your way. I’m extremely pleased with this purchase. I have even bought a second one since just so I could have a 3 foot option.
