I have 6 PEO cameras of various brands, plus some Eufy cameras. This camera looks great. The quality is noticeably better when compared to my other POE cameras, with the exception of the cameras that cost 2x the price- but it’s right in line with them.Setup: At first I was very frustrated with the setup until I found out it was my LaView NVR that was causing the issues. It wasn’t assigning IPs or identifying the Amcrest. However, after using the Amcrest app (and making sure my phone was connected to the same network as the wired camera, which took me far too long to realize I was on a different network) I was able to pair it almost instantly. I was also surprised at how easy it was to determine the IP address using their PC app. That made it much easier to manually assign an IP address to the camera along with a user name and password which I then manually set up in the LaView NVR.I tried BlueIris as well as iSpy- both were easy to setup but because I don’t have a POE router (just the NVR) it made sense to just keep it on my current setup. A hint: double check the voltage to be sure as I’m sure many are different, but I found that several of my AC Adapters from external harddrives are the same voltage and physical size plug to power these cameras (as well as many LED light strips). This was the only way I could get it to connect in the first place because my NVR refused to work until I manually set it up- but again, this was certainly an issue with the NVR as it’s happened on several of my other cameras.Image Quality: As I mentioned, the image is sharp and clear. The LaView NVR that I’m using has a pretty terrible interface for setting up the cameras and displaying the live view without distorting. Night vision is pretty good and casts a pretty broad floodlight.Build quality: Great. It’s only been outside for a little while now so I’ll update this if things change, but so far it’s perfect. I don’t see any reason there would be problems down the road- it’s durable and heavy. Dome cameras are susceptible to light reflection and some scratch easily. I didn’t put this through any scratch tests or beat it up, so I can’t comment on that, but I looks like it could take the elements and then some without a problem.I have another dome camera (different brand) that eventually let water condense inside the dome. I hope this doesn’t happen here but time will tell. I’ll update this if that ever happens.I like the fact you can install a microSD card in the camera. That’s an awesome feature!Overall you really can’t go wrong with this camera, especially for the price point. There are other cameras that might give you a bit more bang or specific features, but at this price I honestly didn’t feel like I was missing anything. I’m trying out their app a bit more on my android, which I’m finding also packs a lot when most apps are pretty sloppy- theirs in solid.Highly recommend.

Product Packaging:• Box is perfect with specs, information and sealed.• Well packaged and arrived with no damage.• Comes with mounting hardware, a sticker guide and waterproof ends for the network cable. (I appreciate that these match the color of the cable/camera (black) so it doesn’t stick out.)Instructions:• Quick start guide is great and very clearFunctionality:I can make all of the necessary configuration with any browser. Currently using Chrome. Saving is very important as I make any changes.Customer Service: None needed, official website documentation was sufficient.Overall experience:• Completely honest, I am not a fan of dome cameras but decided to give this one a shot• Connected to my network quickly and joined it to my BlueIris server.• Very surpassed at the size of this camera. It was actually smaller then I expected but it is very solid.Image:• The wide field of view is fantastic to see. The image is crystal clear and the coverage is amazing. I am now able to adjust some of my other cameras since there is so much overlap now with this wider angle which is awesome to be able to do.Night Vision:• The night vision kicks on and looks amazing when needed.• I only need about 15 feet of it and it produces that perfectPlayback:• I like the option to select file type when looking at recordings. This makes it much quicker to sift through all the videos of the day that motion or AI has seen.

I recently purchased the Amcrest 5MP POE Camera for my outdoor security needs, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with its performance, especially when it comes to night vision, camera quality, and Power over Ethernet (POE) capabilities.Night Vision Excellence:One of the standout features of this camera is its exceptional night vision capabilities. The 98ft night vision range ensures that my property is well-monitored even in low-light conditions. The clarity and detail captured during nighttime are truly impressive, providing a sense of security that extends beyond daylight hours. Whether it’s complete darkness or just low-light situations, the Amcrest 5MP POE Camera delivers clear and vivid images, allowing me to stay aware of my surroundings at all times.Camera Quality:The 5-megapixel resolution of this camera results in sharp and detailed footage. The clarity and crispness of the images and videos captured by the camera are top-notch, providing a level of surveillance quality that is essential for monitoring outdoor spaces. The color reproduction during the day is vibrant, and the camera’s wide dynamic range ensures that both bright and dark areas are well-balanced, further enhancing the overall image quality.POE Convenience:The Power over Ethernet (POE) feature is a game-changer for hassle-free installation. With a single cable carrying both power and data, setup becomes remarkably simple and clutter-free. This not only saves time during installation but also ensures a reliable and stable connection, eliminating the need for additional power sources near the camera location.Durable Outdoor Vandal Dome Design:The outdoor vandal dome design adds an extra layer of security, protecting the camera from tampering and harsh weather conditions. The build quality is robust, and the camera feels sturdy, making it suitable for long-term outdoor use.In conclusion, the Amcrest 5MP POE Camera excels in providing outstanding night vision, superior camera quality, and the convenience of POE. It’s a reliable choice for anyone looking to enhance their outdoor surveillance capabilities. I highly recommend this camera for its impressive performance and features that prioritize security and ease of use.

IP5M-D1188EB-28MM ReviewThis Amcrest PoE 5MP Camera comes with a 2.8mm lens and 1/2.7″ image sensor. Which is good for overview area recordings. The standard resolution is 2592×1944 @ 20FPS.Others are:2688x152p @ 30FPS2048x1536(3MP) @30FPS2304x1296 @ 30FPS1920x1080 @ 30FPS1280x720 @ 30 FPSWhile the higher resolution prodcues a clearler picture, the lower 20FPS produces a smearing effect with anyone walking fast by it. I found it better at one step lower at 30FPS.At the 1944 resoultion, it offers a pretty good picture in color and in B/W with th IR lights. The 2.8mm lens provides a wide-angle view, allowing you to cover a broader area and capture more in a single frame. I put mine in the garage, where as my 3.3mm one is in the driveway.Setup was very easy. Plugged in my Ethernet cord into this camera from my PoE switch, and another ethernet cord back to my NVR. LOgged into my NVR and added the camera with ease.To adjust the pan/tilt, it needs to be done manully. There are no additional features built-in feature into the camera like AI-Person or vehicle detection. No IVS. It has regular motion detection that you can adjust for sensitivity.Main selling point is the plastic cover over the camera for “vandal” protection. I’d persoannly like to see 1944 @30FPS in future models.Amcrest sells great cameras for your needs at a great price. Research and find the one you need for your purpose.

This camera uses Power over Ethernet, which means only one wire to run instead of two. You will need a PoE switch or a PoE injector to power this camera. The camera seems rugged with a metal housing, and feels heavy duty. It appears that it will survive abuse perfectly fine. The design is pretty sleek and doesn’t stick out too much on the side of the house. The glass housing was a fingerprint magnet during installation, but a breeze to wipe off. There are rubber seals on the camera and even desiccant packets inside the housing in case any moisture gets inside. Adjusting the camera angle was really easy.Amcrest’s web interfaces are clean and easy to use. There was a firmware update available, and updating was a very easy and smooth process.Video quality is quite good, and night vision works really well.Amcrest cameras play nicely with my Home Assistant setup. This camera has ONVIF and supports open formats, which will work with your NVR, Blue Iris, IP Cam Viewer, ftp/sftp and other software. You’re not forced to use a cloud subscription, which is a big reason why I keep coming back to Amcrest cameras. This is a great camera for the price. This camera fits my expectations and I would recommend it.

Amcrest Webcam (IP5M-D1188EW-28MM)Packaging ( 5 / 5 )The packaging that came with the POE IP camera was excellent. The combination of foam and cardboard was a great idea, and provided adequate support on all sides. The packaging also has tamper evident tape, to ensure the product was not tampered with from the seller to the consumer.Physical Product Feel ( 5 / 5 )The POE IP camera felt very sturdy, and will protect the internals from weather damage. The Cable provided was also quite long, which was a plus.Using the POE IP Cam ( 5 / 5 )Video/ Picture Quality ( 5 / 5 )The picture/video quality out-of-the-box did not need any software tweaking. Although it is available to be adjusted in the Amcrest web interface. The camera has a main stream which is in HD, and an optional sub stream. You can enable and disable this in the web interface. The sub stream provides decent quality video, if you want to have a quick glance. The video and picture quality of the camera is superb, it is pretty detailed even in night mode. Everything is still visible and clear during the day and night. The 103° viewing angle is very helpful, you can see more with just one camera.Software ( 4 / 5)The Web Interface provided with the camera is pretty straight forward, and most brands use the same interface. It allows you to adjust the quality, saturation, sharpness, brightness, gamma, and contrast. There is a live view, playback, and cloud storage options. If you want to use the playback option in the web interface, you need to install a sd card. You can mirror and flip the image/video if needed. You can adjust the day/night/general profiles for the camera, and setup day/night times. I would like to be able to input the time manually, instead of dragging a slider across.Camera FeaturesExtra SD Card storage availability/ Amcrest Cloud Storage/ NVRPrivacy mask, if you don’t want to see an area on camera.Auto RestartUser managementThis camera has lots of additional featuresOverall ( 4.5 / 5 )The Amcrest POE IP camera is an excellent budget camera that can capture a lot on a small device. Installation was easy, with the provided installation sticker, just put the sticker on the surface you would like to install the camera, drill a few holes, take the sticker off, and then mount the camera. The rest was a breeze, if you know what you are doing. I would recommend this camera to coworkers, friends, and people who want to protect their homes/workplace with surveillance cameras.

I love this camera mainly because it is a vandal dome.Amcrest does have the regular turret IP5M-T1179EW which can be easily vandalized by rotating the camera, pulling the camera out of the mount or pushing the bracket tab to remove the whole assembly. But with this camera, it does take more time to mount because you need to remove the dome first to mount it, then adjust the camera in the live view and then you put the dome back on.I didn’t read the manual but if you do not adjust the lens itself then it will look like the camera is side ways. When you take the dome off, you can turn the black plastic housing around the camera lens 90 degrees to get the right view, otherwise everything will be in a portrait view and not landscape. In the first photo you can see that there is an apartment light next to the camera and I have not had issues with reflections at night. For optimal night image quality make sure when you put the dome on the camera housing, make sure that the rubber seal around the lens is properly flush when you put the dome on so that if you do use the IR lights at night for Black and White mode it will minimize basically all the reflections. The other thing to do is just run the camera in color mode only so that do you not need to use IR lights (only if there is no other light source nearby since color mode need some light for it to work)I am very impressed with the cameras and I have the Amcrest AMCPFB203W Wall Mount to mount them on the wall since I need the extra space in the mount to protect the connection with the ethernet cable since I live in an apartment and can’t drill holes in the wall. For people who care, the version of these cameras were made in Thailand and not in China like the regular turret models.I will diffidently get more of these not that I found the camera that I like.

The camera construction is also really good. One of the most important aspects of a dome camera is how well it is sealed from the elements in order to keep moisture and bugs out. The camera uses a metal body with a rubber gasket that keeps the camera sealed tightly. The penetrations for the cables are also nicely sealed. There are also desiccant packets inside the camera body to absorb any moisture that may get in. The lens adjustment was easy and allowed plenty of range. The video quality and night vision are good. I already have a comprehensive surveillance system and prefer to be able to view all of my cameras from one app or on the television. This camera connected quickly to my Amcrest NVR and worked almost instantly. There are plenty of image enhancement settings including WDR, which works well in a sunny yard.Overall, this seems to be a high-quality outdoor surveillance camera. Generally speaking, I prefer the turret-style camera for outdoor purposes because of the ease of cleaning and fewer issues with lens fogging or spider webs. However, this camera is very well sealed so I would not expect to have those issues.
