I should have been taking pictures while I did this, and didn’t think of it in time. The drum itself is great. My previous one lasted much longer than projected, and, of course, I did a new toner cartridge at the same time. I am always very careful when making changes to electronics– don’t want to do anything wrong or mix up something. So, although the actual replacement of the drum is not difficult at all, the instructions that come in the box from Brother are just diagrams with arrows, and the diagram itself is so dark you can’t really tell what’s what. Even a few words about resetting the counter (not there at all), and moving the tab at the back back & forth and the re-locking it, would have been most helpful. I ended up going to YouTube, and eventually found my specific model. I love my Brother Printer–it has held up well for five years already and now I anticipate it will continue to do so with new cartridge & toner– but the 3 rating is just because I had to waste so much time being sure I could find out how to do it correctly, when just a few specific words would have been so helpful. I couldn’t even locate a video of instructions on the Brother website– reviews from others and a little more searching eventually got me there. Thanks

I didn’t see much improvement in the quality of the print after I replaced the drum. The printer manufacturer branded replacement components tend to be very expensive in comparison with third-party compatible components. Still, I’ve had some unfortunate experiences with the third-party products in the past and prefer to use OEM components. I may have to re-consider that in the future if I am paying premium prices and not getting premium quality.

I bought the Brothers Drum to replace the drum on my Brothers printer. Not worth buying a knock off. Was pretty easy to install. I read the previous reviews so there wasn’t any surprises. So far alls good with my printer. Be sure to reset the counter in beginning and read some of the reviews because there is only a couple of pics for instructions.

I bought because I was told it was time to replace drum. I have not put in printer because my old one is still working. I looked at it and it is the same one I have now, so it should work just fine.
