Work for Union Pacific as a railroad conductor. I use earbuds to plug into my two way radio so I can protect my hearing but still hear what is being said on my radio.Unfortunately, the boom mic I have is wired for mono only instead of stereo. Makes it so that I can only hear out of one side of the earbud. So I purchased this mono to stereo converter so that I can hear on both sides. Works great for this purpose.Clicks onto the earbud jack very well. But kinda loose when connecting to the boom mic. Will have to buy a few more as backup in case I loose this one..

***** NOT FOR A STEREO SOURCESome reviewers complained about bad results when plunging this adapter into a stereo source. By design this adapter is intended to be plugged into a MONO source ONLY. I needed this adapter for a “special” configuration. Read on.***** NOTE ON QUALITY AND RESULTSI can’t say if this adapter will work with any mono device, but it works for me as described below. The connections are secure with no issues. This is day one using this adapter so I don’t know about longevity at this point.***** GET BOTH CHANNELS IN MONOI needed my stereo headphones to be in mono mode. This will work great for a person with hearing loss in one ear.This is my solution using a Dell Inspiron laptop and Sony MDR-ZX110 headphones. It ain’t pretty, but it works See attached photos:1. Plug a STEREO TO MONO adapter into your source (computer or whatever).2. Next plug this MONO TO STEREO adapter into a STEREO TO MONO adapter.3. Next plug your headphones into the mono to stereo adapter. Now mono sound will be routed to the left and right headphone channels.***** NOTE ON SIZESome reviewers were concerned about the adapter being too bulky for their use. The adapter is a a six sided hexagon shape about 7/16 inch wide. See photo.

Prior to purchasing two of these, I purchased a set of the all metal gold colored Stereo to Mono adapters for 3.5mm plugs. Now, THOSE GOLD ONES, are TOO SHORT, meaning that the contacts do not line up properly on the female end, when you plug in the male – you have to retract out the male .5 to 1mm for them to work. Annoying. In sharp contrast, these work great, are the RIGHT LENGTH (1mm longer), and work perfectly. They actually look much better than the picture shown, as far as surface and plating. Important to have for use with may MONO OUT devices.

Simple, solid, and does exactly what you would expect – turn stereo sound into mono by combining both channels. Yep, simple. Nothing special about the adapter except it works and it’s durable. And that is what you want in an adapter.

This product solves a problem our church had with the hearing assist system in the sanctuary. The hearing assist system is monaural only, but all the headphones are stereo. Thus the users received sound only at one ear. Either ear could be selected, but only one. I looked into getting mono headphones, but found nothing satisfactory at a reasonable cost. This adapter solves the problem. The mono signal is converted to stereo, and both ears are served. Thus, having tested the solution, I have ordered several additional adapters to equip the rest of the devices. Problem solved! And at a reasonable cost.
