Over the past four plus decades I have owned a lot of really terrific, if not esoteric, high end audio gear. I’ve owned Pioneer, Denon, Harman/Kardon, AIWA, Emotiva, etc. I recently purchased a 100 ft. spool of Monster Cable 12 ga. speaker cable for $40 and decided to purchase these banana plugs to terminate a pair of cables to power up my vintage KEF 104/2 Reference speakers. I will be powering them with a pristine vintage Sony STR-V444ES A/V receiver and selling the big Emotiva XDA-2 Gen 2 power amplifier which is just way too much for my small room.I’ve never been one to place a high value on ridiculously expensive cables/wire though I do appreciate a bit better quality than what comes included inside the box when making a new purchase. For me, Monster Cable has been the choice for speaker wire since the early 80’s. I would have purchased their line of banana plugs but for the expense. These are just as good and I got 6 pair for less than the cost of one. They are super easy to install and just work. They aren’t going to be pulled out and plugged back in repeatedly. They are an excellent buy. I highly recommend!

I ordered these to add two more speakers to my home theater system. They worked perfectly with my 12 AWG speaker cable. I tried then with 14 AWG cable as well. They provided a very secure connection each time. They are very easy to connect to the wire, just strip back the conductor, place the sleeve on the wire, cut off the excess leaving about 3/16 inch of exposed conductor, fold it over the sleeve and screw it together. Simple and secure.

Remember Monster Cables? Those obnoxious looking power strips, incredibly overpriced cables? Shall I go on? Well one bright spark of their product line were some pretty cool and easy to use Banana Plugs.I was lucky to snag a sizable stash from closing Radio$hack stores in the mid-2000’s. And they worked amazing (and still do for that matter). These Amazon Essentials Banana Plugs are pretty much carbon copies of the old Monster design, they work great and they are waaaaay less expensive. Will buy again, have bought again and you should too.Even the home theater contractor that installed our in-ceiling speakers was impressed by the old Monster plugs and he was shocked when I showed him that you could order the same gear from Amazon for only a little more than the standard banana plugs he was using from that Mono-place.PRO’s: Easy on, easy off and the plastic surround cuts down on the possibily of shorting…CON’s: Just slightly more expensive than the bone basic plug, but you can do it once and do it right, or you can buy the absolute lowest priced gear and just get by.

Easy to install and a great alternative to the screw connectors. Fits snug inside the clamping cylinders. I’d recommend for home theater setups as it makes receiver swapping easier when the time comes to upgrade/replace.

These are decently priced for the quality of banana clip. Worth while home entertainment upgrade.

Work great for home stereo use if you have banana jacks on your amp/receiver. No tools are required and I can confirm that these banana plugs work with 12 AWG wiring. I believe they would also work with 10 AWG but I have not tested this.

These are great banana plugs. The way they take the wire and screw on is a great design. Very secure and great wire to plug contact. The also push in very securely.

This product lives up to its advertised promises – no complaints on its performance. However, if I were to suggest an improvement, it would be to make the red plug more distinguishable. The current maroon color, especially in the dim corners of a room where amplifiers typically reside, made it a bit challenging to discern between the red and black plugs. A brighter shade of red for the plug would make the setup process even smoother and more user-friendly. Despite this minor observation, the product itself functions flawlessly, and I’m satisfied with its overall performance.

So much better than bare wire. Couldn’t be simpler to install.

These “Amazon Basics Speaker Connector Banana Plugs” are handy and work well. I had no problems installing them on the ends of bare speaker cable. The screw on fastening system is much better than the old style using small set screws. I made a great looking set of cables using Amazon Basics 12 gauge speaker cable and PVC speaker wire ‘pants’ also from Amazon. One interesting thing to note about these is that the ‘banana’ part of the plug spins freely on the shaft. Presumable these tighten up when inserted into a socket, but I was surprised to see this. When I built these cables, I was unsure what length of bare wire to expose to ensure a good fit with this connector. After some experimentation, I would reccomend about 1/4″ of bare wire. If you go too much longer, you’ll be unable to screw the two halves of the connector together because there’s too much material in there.
