I’ve mounted one of these in each of my trucks to hold a large cell phone (Samsung A71). They have not fallen off and are stable. They are flexible enough to follow the contour of the dash if it’s not a large bend/angle. (For example, it seems like it won’t hold stay stuck if there is a 20 degree bend, but if it’s just a curved dash it works great.)

works great, except i lost adhesion in the summer heat and it fell off.

Well designed, well made. I would have used the screw-down version but backside access is a problem in my particular application.Like anything set with adhesive in any vehicle (mine is on a runabout console – plastic – that sits in the Mexican sun), surface preparation is everything. Here’s what I did: Wiped down area with simple green to remove oils. Then drew the outline of the pad on the console. Then using 120 grit sandpaper, I worked the area inside the outline until every bit of gloss was gone. Then cleaned the area with 90% rubbing alcohol. Finally, I dabbed a shop cloth wet with acetone on the area – this sets the plastic up for mating perfectly with the adhesive. Finally, I applied the adhesive disk and the mount on top. Because it’s on a fairly horizontal surface, I placed a bag of sand on top to help with setting. Then I left it alone for 24 hours. 48 would have been better, but I wanted to get out on the water. The mount has worked flawlessly for holding both a small camera and a Garmin GPS (not simultaneously). I’ve hit it hard a couple of times moving past the console – no problem. The connection between the ball and the pad is well made. I am extremely happy with this product and am ordering two more – one for the car dash and another for the sailboat. If you can access the backside of whatever you want to mount a ball to, consider the model that offers screw holes and use nuts and bolts to do a proper job of it.

Great holder, but just holding a phone it starts to come apart after a few months. Supposed to have a warranty bit good luck on getting another from RAM. Easier and cheaper to just replace

I installed this base to get rid of the suction cup base I’ve had for many years that is hard to reach and falls off windshield in the cold. I have yet to try this base in the winter but so far through the summer months in the heat. Its been able to hold up my phone with no issues. It was easy to stick onto the dash. I gave it 24 hours per its instructions with no weight on it.

I have a 2007 Honda CRV. This is the perfect Base for my Garmin Nuvi 255W Car GPS. I have plenty of room to mount the Base onto the middle of the hard flat surface on top of my dash Because RAM carries a large variety of accessories for their mounts. I combined the short double ball joint with this base and added a RAM’s Garmin Holder to complete my mount. My main concerns were to mount the GPS in the proper sight line so I could read it and keep my eyes on the road at the same time. The top middle of the dash was the perfect location. My second concern was to get a holder that would let me remove my GPS easily. RAM’s Garmin Holder fit that bill completely. The adhesive base is large, so you need a good size flat and hard surface to mount it to for it to work properly. If you do, it’s solid like a rock. The cons were that there were no instructions with the base and a lot of other RAM products. And the online website was of no use. The adhesive pad has a foamy side and a smooth side, which side do you stick to the dash, which side to the actually base? I guessed the foamy side to dash and smooth to base. Other than that I have been buying Ram product for over 10 years and haven’t had any problems with there durability.

What’s not to like, it’s a Ram mount… my only wish is I had mounted it on a part of my dash that wasn’t a thin panel of plastic. Lessons learned I suppose. Got an X mount and 3″ arm as well for it, and it holds my S21 ultra soundly. The extra retention strap came with the X mount, and is even more sure gripped. I don’t see the phone coming out of the grips, even when I’m bouncing down trails in my truck off road. The unstable dash panel I mounted it too, however, makes the whole thing wobble around like a supermarket air dancer, so make sure you find a solid panel to put it on.

Used it to mount my iPhone on my sea ray. Works amazing.

Works great and stays in place. It is currently holding my smartphone at the end of a 3.69″ arm, in a really awkward position (almost upside-down). Its mounted in my car, on a TEXTURED surface, and has remained in place through sweltering summer heat, chilly winter nights, and with lots of bumps and vibrations thrown into the mix. Make sure the surface you are mounting it to is super clean. I thoroughly whipped the area with a baby wipe before going at it with the included alcohol wipe. Press the mount on for 60 seconds, making sure to press all around, then (a lot of people don’t realize this) you have to LEAVE IT ALONE overnight. Don’t mount anything to it, don’t even touch it. The adhesive tape must set overnight for the best adhesion and fiddling with it is a big no-no.

RAM mount products like this one are great! Very easy to customize, sturdy as the day is long, and there are so many options to choose from!I won’t buy another mount system again now that I’ve started using these. They’re a bit expensive, to be sure, but I see it as a long term investment. Right now, my tablet is mounted on my current setup, but I can easily put my phone up, or convert for a small laptop, or GPS, or anything I want!I’ll be investing in more parts so that my phone and GPS are also mounted with RAM mount gear.
