This is an exact OEM replacement for my 24V/80lb iPilot Riptide ST, and presumably other similar models. This is a great unit and meets my every expectation.Linking is snap. Hit the learn button on the head of the iPilot and hit any button on the remote. You will get a confirmation beep. That’s it.This stays on as long as your iPilot is on. As the remote battery ages, the remote will go to sleep on you. This is normal. I have never experienced any other disconnection or difficulty with linking with the original remote or this replacement. When the remote goes to sleep, the trolling motor keeps doing whatever it was doing. If you are having trouble linking remote or are losing connection (other than the sleep mode to save battery on the remote), it is more likely that your iPilot unit is going bad. Keep that in mind before you throw this product under the bus. These remotes are solid as a rock.I recommend having at least two methods to control your trolling motor. This remote plus the foot pedal, or two of these remotes, or one of these remote and one mini remote, etc. Also, having a couple extra batteries on board is a good idea. The batteries last me about 10-12 months with moderate use, and replacements can store unused for 3 years or more. You do get some warning that the battery is dying, but not super accurate. This does not include the fancy Minn Kota lanyard. The product description does not say that it is included. Minn Kota website does not say it is included. I don’t know where people are getting the idea that this product brings the lanyard. To be clear, this product does not bring the lanyard. It is the remote unit with the battery installed. That’s it. Do not take away stars from an otherwise stellar product because you wanted more that was supposed to come with the product.

It works! I’ve been thinking that I needed a new Minn Kota motor for the boat. This is just after I told my beautiful wife that there would be NO big surprises on the boat this year. Tried a few other remotes, which did no work. I read someone’s review that said that the “legacy” worked, o’ so right.

I got one of the first ipilot Terrova. The buttons are formed into the front cover and have always been a bit touchy. Lately they have gotten worse with slow response and very specific points of contact required. I decided to try this new remote control to see if I could get back the same joy I had when the motor was new and I have to say that it worked. It’s fast and precise. I would have liked to have spent less, but it is a good investment.

Works just like it’s supposed to work. Just press the learn button on the head of the motor unit and press a button on the remote and within a couple of seconds there’s a beautiful confirmation beep. That’s it!!!My other remote stopped working, but it’s more of a contact issue with the battery and the battery cover. Not a very good design! It’s either go this way or use a foot control. Mainly use the anchor lock which is absolutely great!!
