I just purchased a new Sportsman 231 Heritage Center Console boat that came with a Garmin 943 MFD and wanted to add a second MFD. However, my boat came with a Seakeeper Ride system (that’s amazing by the way) and it was taking up the only RJ45 network port on the back of Garmin 943. I purchased the Garmin 10 Network Port Expander to be able to add the second Garmin 943 and it worked perfectly for my purpose. I hooked up both MFDs and the Seakeeper and everything communicated with each other right away with no issues. I’m very happy with the product. What I like about it:Comes with a RJ45 network cable (saves you $30-ish).Solid design and was basically plug and play (you do need to power it).It doesn’t void the Garmin warranty as it is a Garmin product.Installation was easy (I used some double sided 3m marine tape, 4 SS screws and screwed it to a starboard panel in my console. My only complaints are:The waterproof screw on plastic parts on the network cable are two pieces and while everything was able to be snugged up, they seem cheap and be a bit of a pain to figure out at first. Wish it was just one solid piece attached to the cable. It is a bit big/bulky if you don’t have much space. The 10 in the title made me think it had 10 ports which it only has 5.It is a bit pricey but really what isn’t when it comes to a boat.I wish Garmin made a 3 port or some sort of splitter since that’s all I needed.

I bought a new boat and added a lot of electronics (all Garmin) and wanted everything talking with each other.I know I could have gone a cheaper route and made my own network hub for less but after dropping $30K on a brand new boat, I figured what’s another $200-ish in the big scheme of things. It’s been working perfectly so far. I have 2 Garmin 93sv’s and a live scope connected and no problems at all. It’s easy to mount, and gives a nice clean look when completed.
