I wanted to add a second SSD to my system as my original Samsung SSD is almost 10 years old. Black Friday sealed the deal. As my home build only had two bays and they were both in use, I bought the Corsair Dual SSD Mounting Bracket which allowed me to put the old SSD and new SSD in the same bay (they stack on top of each other). I also planned to clone the new drive as a boot drive. When I ran the Arconis program (that you download off the WD website) and waited two hours I got a warning from Windows (when I tried to boot) that the new drive was corrupted when I tried to boot from it. I made two attempts. It just wouldn’t work. A YouTuber had recommended the trial version of Macrium Reflect cloning software. I downloaded that and followed along on the provided video on their website. Super easy. I did have to go into the BIOS to change the boot order as I left the Samsung in place as a backup drive. Overall the WD drive works perfect but I recommend using Macrium to clone the drive.

If you are looking for a good quality SSD, Western Digital in my opinion makes some of the best out there. I have tried other brands and they didn’t seem to be as high of quality as these are. These are very versatile and can be placed in anything from gaming consoles to laptops to desktops. The transfer rate is very quick and you will notice an increase in speed right away. Only suggestion I have is you may want to look at larger sizes depending on your application. 500gb seems to fill up quite fast, especially on modern gaming consoles. It is worth the extra money.

I picked up the 4TB model when it was on sale during black Friday for $190, and my only regret is that I didn’t buy more than one.Reliable, and fast (well, as fast as a non-nvme flash disk can be).Western Digital SSDs haven’t let me down yet, I’ll continue to buy them, especially when on sale.

I use these for the root file systems in 3 different Linux machines. The speed-up in booting alone is worth the money, but as the /bin (and other “non-user” file systems are on these) have significantly faster access, and a lot of reports, complex database updates, and the like sped up appreciably after I moved the root file systems to SSD’s like these

So I recently cloned my laptop drive. My hp laptop was running and booting up really slow so I changed the drive, since then it’s running great booting time real fast, excellent product 👌

Awesome cost for a the space the drive offers. No instructions to install, make sure that your computer has the appropriate SATA cables (to motherboard and to power), if the computer doesn’t have any you may want to get some. I ended up having to buy BolAAzuL SATA Cable III Right Angle & Straight, 2-Pack SATA Data Cables 90 Degree + SATA 3 Cable Straight to Straight, 6Gbps Tangle-Free SATA Cable 7pin Black with Locking Latch for Hard Drive SSD. After it was in and a few moments on a YouTube video was easy to allocate and format without any issues. PS make sure you are plugging it into the appropriate SATA port.

I wanted something faster than a HDD for my media files/pictures. Maybe I’ll put some tiny arcade style games on it as well. A reliable Sata drive. Wish there was a 8TB version.

My laptop was running dog slow. Upgraded to this drive and now everything is fine. Just need the extra room to run.

I put one of these in an old Toshiba laptop and it really helped to bring some life into it. Western Digital.
