“I recently upgraded my workspace with the LG UltraWide QHD 34-Inch Curved Computer Monitor (34WQ73A-B), and I must say, it’s been an absolute game-changer. The expansive 34-inch curved display has not only enhanced my productivity but also transformed my entertainment experience. With its QHD resolution, the clarity and detail in images are nothing short of stunning, making every task from editing documents to watching movies a real pleasure. The monitor’s ultra-wide aspect ratio is perfect for multitasking, allowing me to seamlessly work on multiple windows side by side without any compromise on space. This has significantly reduced my need to switch back and forth between applications, saving me both time and effort. The color accuracy and brightness levels are impressive, providing vibrant and consistent colors across the entire screen.Ergonomically, LG has hit the nail on the head with this model. The adjustable stand and the curve of the monitor make for a comfortable viewing experience, even during long hours of use. This has been a boon for my posture and overall comfort at the desk. The connectivity options with USB-C, HDMI, and DisplayPort are ample for my needs, making it easy to connect various devices without a hitch. While the monitor is nearly perfect, there’s always room for improvement. The menu navigation could be more intuitive, and an increase in refresh rate would be welcome for those heavy into gaming. Nevertheless, these are minor quibbles in what is otherwise an outstanding product. In conclusion, the LG UltraWide QHD 34-Inch Curved Computer Monitor (34WQ73A-B) is a fantastic addition to any workspace or home office. It offers superb visual quality, a comfortable viewing experience, and a sleek design that would complement any desk setup. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their computing experience. Five stars well deserved!”

I have a SurfacePro 4 laptop and as a Realtor I needed the extra “real estate” to work with multiple screens to do research, have my PC phone on, and multi-task without having to learn a ton of hot keys. It was a pain in the butt. I used to have a couple of 27″ monitors when I worked out of an office and was really missing it.This monitor has exceeded my expectations so far. I have it connected using the Cable Matters Mini DisplayPort to the monitor’s DisplayPort connection. The picture is sharp, colors look good, and was extremely bright out of the box. I made a few adjustments and it’s perfect now. Text is sharp and clear. Maps and satellite images look great. The monitor stand that comes with it is very versatile. Monitor can be tilted as well as leveled up and down with the shock-type base. Once it’s set, it doesn’t move at all. As for the monitor height, I’m able to adjust it perfectly to eye-level as well as keep it just over my laptop screen so I have full view of all screens. It will get pretty tall from a seated position, so if you have a standing desk it might work for you without additional brackets or VESA mounts. Just depends on the space you need.My only complaint is that is has an anti-glare coating on it that I almost tried to pull off. The top 2 corners are slightly not sealed up and made me think it was that protective shipping film. After a bunch of internet searches it looks like it’s supposed to stay. Probably need a little better QC to ensure it’s flush, but it’s not in the field of view and zero issue. As for anti-glare performance, between the film and the curve I’ve had zero issues, even with lights on behind me.I don’t use the monitor for gaming so I can’t comment on that. I haven’t noticed any “artifacts” like tearing, bleeding, pixels missing, or other usual issues that may be associated with flat panel monitors or TVs. I will say one thing, that the black levels are pretty damn good. The monitor when blank is pretty black and since I used a black/dark theme for my browser and Office products, I often lose the edge when I need to drag a window.I haven’t tried the LG software to create a virtual dual monitor that snaps the open windows into configuration. I usually just set it up and it’s fine. If my laptop goes to sleep or gets shut down it will remember where everything is. One thing that has happened a couple times is the Mini DisplayPort connector can lose it’s connection at times and then all the windows reduce to the laptop and I have to set drag them all back again. As far as size goes, 34″ is pretty perfect. Dual 27″ takes up a lot more space and then you’ve got the gap in the middle to work around. No noticeable panel seam in the middle of this thing, either. I’ve seen that comment made on some other cheaper monitors that were well-rated on Amazon. I’ve had good success with LG products, so I ‘m glad I spent a little more money for this. If you’re using it mostly for office and not gaming, I’d say this is an excellent balance of cost, performance, and quality. LG makes some ultra-wides that are over $1000 bucks and I spent a lot of time looking at specs to compare. Unless you need the higher performance of super-low response time and you can output well over 60hz, this monitor is everything you need.LG supplies a USB-C and HDMI cable in the box.

I am writing this review after experiencing the monitor for couple of months to ensure that my review is well rounded and includes all the points one need to know of while making a decision to purchase this monitor. The context of my purchase:1. The pandemic has ensured that a lot of people like me are working from home. At some point we all feel two things (at least I felt): a. The laptop screens are too small for multi screen working b. The switching between work and personal laptops becomes a spot of bother.2. Depending on our pastime hobbies, we need a monitor that can help us work on a bigger screen as well as let us do our hobby related things on the same monitor. Photography is my hobby and and I process really large photographs on a regular basis besides constantly working from home.So an ideal scenario for me was to get a monitor that supports high resolution so I can see my large photos with decent clarity and also lets me work with multiple screens side by side. I went back and forth between a lot of monitors before deciding to buy this one.One reason I went for the ultrawide is that the height of the ultrawide monitors are less than the non-ultrawide due to the 16:9 ratio. This allows me to look straight into the monitor without craning my neck. Now specifics about the monitor:1. IPS panel and hence really crisp display corner to corner, great colors and sharpness.2. Supports high resolution laptops. I have a mac mini 2020 with dedicated graphics card. I love the way this monitor displays everything on the mac mini.3. Unpacking and setting up was a breeze.4. The screen splitting software is awesome. Allows you to split the screen in 2, 3 or 4 sections. Once installed on your laptops, you select the split you want and that’s it. As soon as you drag a specific application, the split window borders immediately appear and let you just drop the screen into the section you want and the application snugly fits into that section. I love this part actually. Now the difficulties I had to achieve the setup I was looking for.1. You can connect wireless keyboard and mouse straight into the monitor. Those devices get attached to the laptop you connect to the monitor without any issues.2. However, the monitor only has 1 USB-C port. So if you have two high resolution computers to attach to the monitor, you can’t connect simultaneously. You have to keep taking the cable off one and put on another to get the display. This is not the solution I was looking for.3. The HDMI ports don’t bring up high resolution display. My Mac Mini doesn’t even show anything on the monitor when connected to the HDMI port. My work Windows laptop shows a display on HDMI port, but with resolution so low that it is not usable.4. If you use a Display cable on the Display port, then you only throw the display to the monitor but you don’t get the advantage of sharing the keyboard and mouse through the monitor. So, I tried all the permutations and combinations to make it work so I can have both my work and personal computers connected to the monitor and I can switch between the two with the display select button of the monitor. Alas, didn’t work out. If only LG had two USB-C ports on the monitor. So after a lot of research, I bought this KVM switch that allows me to go back and forth between my two computers with the press of a button:https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08F42NXGC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1It is a pricy solution, but it finally achieved the setup I wanted. Now my two computers are connected to the switch along with the wireless keyboard and the mouse and the switch sends the display to the monitor through a dedicated display (HDMI) cable. I switch between my two computers with the button on the switch.I know it is more than just reviewing the monitor. But I am sure a lot of you want to have a similar setup at home and I wanted to write this to ensure that you know what you are getting into. Hope this helps.

This monitor is absolutely fantastic. I’m using this as an external for my new 2021 Macbook Pro M1 16″, and the performance has been flawless so far! My old Philips 4K monitor would flicker under every color profile, and I constantly had to change the color profiles to prevent this from happening on a daily basis. But this new LG was plug-and-play, super easy assembly with no tools necessary, and it NEVER flickers, no matter what color profile I set it at. It doesn’t take an eternity to boot up like my old Philips monitor did. And the picture is so much better. Everything is so sharp, and the color representation is wonderful at every angle, thanks to this being an IPS monitor. This is my first widescreen 21:9 monitor, and the real estate/multitasking is really something else. It’s very immersive, and I love the curved panel. I write music scores for a day job, and I love that I can see huge portions of my scores in such detail, in addition to whatever other windows I need to have open simultaneously. At first, I kind of wished that I would have gone with a 38 inch 4:3 because this one seemed to be not tall enough, but I’m quickly getting over that. The quality is outstanding, and I hope this monitor lasts for many, many years to come. I’m very, very happy with the purchase of this LG Ultrawide at this price point, and I highly recommend it!EDIT: 6 months later – PLUG IT DIRECTLY INTO THE WALL, NOT A POWER STRIP! I had been experiencing the monitor turning itself off while I was in the middle of working several times. After calling LG’s tech support (who were VERY helpful, by the way) I discovered that it was because the monitor was plugged into a power strip, instead of directly into the wall. Apparently this is a power requirement thing. I considered myself educated that day. 6 months later, and it’s still going strong! Highly recommended….

I love the stand that comes with the monitor. very sturdy and has a good amount of vertical adjustment and a little tilt. the instruction manual is garbage…. i’m not even sure they were included in the box, i ended up just downloading it from their website, instructions are Ikea style. pictures and step #s without any explanation. good thing that to get it setup is to simply connect the 3 parts together, which was fortunately pretty self explanatory but it would have been nice if they used words (in english) to better explain the steps and not just pictures to figure out.If you are worried about the ‘curve’, no worries, it’s very subtle and you can’t tell the difference when using it. I love how this version that i bought, had the USB C hub. I was able to connect my wife’s Macbook which only had 2 USB-C ports and nothing else (no power, no HDMI) and i was able to connect it directly to the monitor’s USB C port and i got not only the video/audio connection but it provided enough Power to the Macbook. So instead of using both of the Macbook’s USB-C ports for power and display connection, i only use a single cable directly to the monitor for everything. This is amazing for my wife as she brings the Macbook back and forth to home/work daily. Makes things easier for her. ***Do NOTE, that when i used the included Macbook USB-C cable, the Display connection did not work and i couldnt figure out why. UNTIL i used the monitor’s included USB-C cable to connect and it finally worked. I think the other USB-C cable was not capable to handle both the power and the video/audio but the monitor included cable was. So use that instead. It’s probably higher spec or newer version to support everything. The viewing angles are really good. That’s why i went with the IPS screen instead of a lower price on sale ‘gaming’ VA monitors. Better for the websites/spreadsheets.

I have a vertical monitor setup with a 34″ same size lg ultra wide but at 1080p vertical res instead of the 1440p seen here. I replaced one with the 1440p on the bottom and the 1080p old one on top and while similar dimensions this qhd looks much much better. I was initially against qhd because the regular 16:9 ones looked too tiny in font so i always stuck to 1080p no matter how wide it got. Fast forward to 2023 and being a godot developer on linux i saw a night and day difference in readable space using a friends monitor so i jumped the gun here to get a feel for 1440p ultra wide. For reference my usage here was to be used mainly for programming and browsing. But i could not risk the va panels no matter how tempting 49″ ultra wide are because of va smearing is inescapable. Here the tried and true ips 34″ lg ultra wide. No ghosting no smearing and colors even better than my old 34″ 1080p ultra wide. No screen tearing on a amd minipc or setup needed. I ran a hdmi and purposely keep refresh to 60hz even if monitor is higher because ive learned that it doubles electricity usage for no reason if you don’t need it for every day use. Ran some emulators from dolphin to yuzu and all ran perfect on ubuntu no screen or frame issue. No dead pixels either thankfully.Vesa mount is located higher than the previous unit so i had to adjust my clamp on the vertical pole. The power cable is a legit 3pin pc power cable. No brick so that was a relief.HOWEVER the only con i can see is the mounting points are too far down to the bottom. If you’re looking for a clean 100″ floating unit with cable management you need right angle cables. Find a right angle power and hdmi/dp otherwise youll hang cables down below the bottom cutoff line of the monitor. Literally not an issue just a struggle as usual for us cable management nuts but easily remedied.Another perfect banger out of lg. Their ips panels are truly perfection. Va panels however.. lol lets not go there

This is a review for the LG 34WQ73A-B, which appears to be a recent release (9/2022, review written 12/2022). TL;DR: This is an extremely good value for office use. I have more expensive monitors and I compare them in detail below.I have three other monitors to compare this against: an LG UltraFine 5K 27″, an LG 4k 27″ and an Alienware 34″ with the same resolution (gaming, 144hz). I went with this monitor (34WQ73A-B) because it has an IPS panel and my other LG IPS 4K and 5K screens have very good color accuracy; my MacBook Pro renders text to both very well. I didn’t need a high refresh for gaming, just 60Hz for office work as a software developer working in design systems. I have this placed next to my 5K UltraFine, which makes it easy to discern where it is a step down (pixel density). That said, it holds up well and is very comparable to my Alienware 34″ at the same resolution. Font smoothing isn’t as ideal as the 5K, but it looks good enough to not bother me at all. I use it for Zoom meetings, browser windows, and also code editing. I still prefer the 5K for previewing output (web development work on the front-end) but I’ll use this when the details or colors don’t matter as much.Regarding alternatives on the market, I had also considered stepping up to a 38″ monitor for 2-2.5x the price but I couldn’t justify the difference. It would have been the same pixel density, and only going to a 5K2K monitor at 38-40″ would have been a real improvement, but those cost around 4-5x as much. Like I said, next to a 5K 27″ monitor, it holds up and I’m not disappointed one bit, it does what it sets out to do very well. The value here is unmatched.I also compared its HDR performance next to my 5K and it held up really well (see the first photo with both displays). I had to turn the brightness to 100%, and made sure the HDR options were enabled. It was slightly less bright than my 5K, so I intentionally lowered the brightness on my 5K to match it better; the 5K was at 100% initially which was probably too bright for everyday use in the first place. The 5K at around 50% brightness matches the 34WQ73A-B at 100% brightness, so I feel like the 34WQ73A-B is a relatively dim monitor best suited to medium to low light settings. I don’t work in a bright room, I keep my lights low and warm, so this is not an issue. In a bright space with lots of sunlight, it could be more of an issue, so keep that in mind. It probably wouldn’t matter with good contrast, but darker images might not show up as well.If I could call out any other cons, it would probably be the backlight bleed. One photo shows approximately what you would see in a dark room (I turned off the lights) and the photo with a brighter backlight bleed is from the camera auto-exposing to a higher degree. It does not look like the brighter photo but it’s still a good photo to show what the backlight variance is like. In everyday use, it’s not a problem. I think it would handle a movie just fine even with dark scenes, it would just fall short of what an OLED TV panel could do.Again, if you research what a panel like this can do, I think this is going to deliver on what it should be capable of. At the current price point, it’s one of the best values I’ve ever had in all my monitor purchasing. Each of my four monitors all fill a slightly different expectation and I’m pretty happy with my two setups for gaming (27″ 4K + 34″ 3440×1440 144Hz) and office (27″ 5K + this LG 34″ 3440×1440 60Hz). I think this is ideal as a value-oriented office monitor and you’d have to spend 5x as much to really have a noticeable upgrade in the ultrawide format.

I am very happy with this 34″ screen as a replacement for my 27″ screen. Lots of extra screen real estate for doing the daily tasks of business.
