ESR for MagSafe Car Mount Charger Set with CryoBoost, Magnetic Wireless Car Charger Compatible with MagSafe Car Charger, for iPhone 15/14/13/12 with 36W QC 3.0 Fast Car Charger, Phone Cooling Tech

After having issues with the Anker 613 Magsafe Car Charger, I decided to try out the newer model of ESR’s Wireless Car Charger with Cryoboost. Read on below for my thoughts and impressions:Packaging: I’m brand new to ESR. Everything about their packaging felt premium and thought out to help me understand how to set up my new device. You’re welcomed with an introduction to Cryoboost and on a sleek cardstock following instructions on how to install the rotating ball into the mount using a step-by-step guide. Included was the USB A to USBC cord but you’ll have to buy the charging adapter separately that is compatible with MagSafe charging. Luckily I had one but the packaging included a cute illustration of what to look for in case you don’t have one handy.Setup/Mount: Setting up the device was EASY. Takes 2 steps to screw on the rotating ball mount onto the charging device and I was able to clip it onto my car’s vent with no issues. I really liked the clip that adjusts on the bottom of the mount for added stability. Very thought-out design to help keep it in place. The build quality of the mount was impressive and not cheap feeling compared to other mounts I’ve used in the past.MagSafe Charging/Cryoboost: My iPhone 13 Pro Max has Apple’s MagSafe case and was impressed by how strong of a hold it had on my phone once placed onto the charger. Charging was fast (for 7.5W wireless charging anyway) and was able to maneuver the rotating ball mount to my liking. Cryoboost is a very interesting tech that solves a problem with chargers/phones that overheat during use. As soon as the phone is placed on the charger you can hear an audible fan noise coming from the device. Once you remove your phone the fans stop. If you put your hand behind the mount you can feel the air coming through. I picked up a few people using Uber and during moments when I parked I removed my phone to feel the back and surprisingly it felt reasonably cool. Pretty cool technology. Though I do have a few comments about Cryoboost…1.) The fan doesn’t get cool/cold upon first use when you start your car. Temp may vary based on the climate you live in but my impression is that your car’s internal temp has to be moderately cool in order for the fans to dispense cool air? The description of Cryoboost is the “cooling tech” so until ESR reaches out to me to confirm how this tech really does function whether it’s supposed to cool the phone on its own or if the temp in your car factors into the tech is something I’ll update soon.2.) The whisper-quiet fan worked well and wasn’t a bother to me. You’ll be listening to something in your car anyway to notice if not the outside noise your car makes drowns out the small sound of the fan. The fan could be a tad stronger in my opinion but that’s a small nitpick.Overall I’m very happy about the device and was surprised by the build quality and set-up of the mount. You should definitely pick this up! I plan on updating this review after I’ve used the mount for 2-3 weeks. Hopefully, by then ESR messages me about their Cryoboost tech and will update me on if it’s supposed to cool my phone on its own or if your car’s intertnal temps factor into the fans cooling.***UPDATE*** 06/13/2022I’ve been using this device for some time now and wanted to give my thoughts and impressions.- The company has not reached out to me in regards to CryoBoost. After using the device for some time since my initial review, I believe CryoBoost needs the internal temp of the car to be cool in order to help keep your phone cool with the internal fan. This is nothing more than a good mount/MagSafe charger with just a fan on it. The CryoBoost is just a marketing gimmick. That’s not to say the fan helps… just know you’ll have to use A/C or have the internal car temp be reasonably cool to help keep your phone cool while it’s charging.-The device will often not charge my IPhone until 30sec-minute has elapsed due to hot internal temps inside your car. If you live in areas where it gets really hot just know the device won’t charge right away. At first I thought it was broken, but something to keep in mind.-Overall the device works great and charges my phone quickly. I Uber all the time, and this is perfect for my needs. CryoBoost is nothing more than a fan and DOES NOT have internal cooling tech. Just keep your car reasonably cool and it should help keep your phone cool during travel.**UPDATE** 12/22/2022An official ESR rep reached out to me and gave some useful information and education about their product and how their cryoboost tech works. Because of my experience thus far with their mount they gave me a full refund. Though it took awhile for someone to reach out to me I couldn’t be happier with how responsive and attentive Theresa has been. This company will go above and beyond for you. Looking forward to their new products and you’ll see many reviews of them from me in the future!

While I do not have an Apple product, this charger has worked pretty well. I have a 2017 Outback that I use this charger in and I attached it to the vent over the center display screen. I have a Pixel 7 with a MagSafe case and it holds extremely well with minimal movement. The phone does partly cover the screen but it’s not enough to make me hate it. That’s also not a negative against the product.As for the charging, it does wirelessly charge, but not well. It will keep the charge but there’s a very slow gain. When I need to charge my phone, I’ll use it as a mount and just plug directly into the phone. The fan does work well though. You will notice a slight him as background noise, but when the music is on, you hardly notice it.Overall, it’s a good product. I wish the wireless charging was better but I haven’t found one that keeps up with a Pixel phone. Until I do find one, I’m pretty happy with this one.

I bought this because it seemed like an answer to a review I wrote about their original car mount which overheated my phone in several conditions and became unusable when I drive Lyft and Uber. The CryoBoost works great and I’ve pulled my phone off the mount after it’s been charging and it’s cold to the touch when the AC is running and cool when the sun is out and the heat is running. The magnets work great and my phone hasn’t fallen off yet and it’s been a year and a half now which is the longest I’ve ever had the same mount. The clip hasn’t let go of the vent yet, but it’s easy to bump around and also easy to reconfigure. I still have the original HaloLock mount I bought and phones get pretty warm using it but it’s not a big problem in my wife’s car because it’s not used for the extended times mine is. You don’t get the 15W speed but it charges from 30-90 in a couple hours while running Lyft/Uber/Waze constantly so that’s a win. If you don’t need 15W charging, just buy this. I can’t even justify spending the money for the 15W one. This one is that good.

Liked it so much I actually bought 2 more for my other cars. Ok so it’s a bit loud the fan, which actually threw me off till I realized it was the fan. Thought something was wrong with the car, Ha, ha. Charges well and keeps my phone upright with the magnet. I’ve used both the clip for the vent which works well and recently used the sticky tab on dash since the vents on my 2024 Toyota Camry are well placed but my iPhone 15 blocks part of the screen on the car. So both the vent clip (used for 7 months) and the sticky thing (used for 1.5 months) work well. Also I use the Torras case for my iPhone 15.

Update to the original review: I was contacted by the CustomerCare@esrgear with their concerns about the issues I had with my original purchase that ended with a return for Refund. They offered to me at no charge an ESR Magnetic Magnetic Wireless Car Charger Mount, just like the one I returned and an ESR for Samsung S23 Ultra Case, Compatible with MagSafe case to replace the devices I had that didn’t work together. The devices were quickly received and function perfectly together when I installed them in my car and on my phone. There was also a 3M Adhesive mount that was included in the box with the Charger that works better with my 2006 GMC Yukon I was able to put the 3m Adhesive mount near the A/C Vent opening instead of blocking the entire flow of air from the vent from hitting me if I used the well designed Clip on Mount designed to clamp to the vent. The only issue I have is that I don’t drive every day, and the charger might pull down the battery in the Yukon, so I unplug the charger from the Cigarette Lighter Adapter when not in use. Thank You ESR Gear!!!Original Review: The only way I can get my Smartphone to charge with this Wireless Car Charger is to plug in the charger to a Car or A/C USB Power Supply directly to the charger after my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra with HaloRing Magnet attached to a thin case is already attached to the Power Supply. If I plug in the power cord to the Wireless Car Charger with Cryoboost first, the phone only charges for 15 seconds and then starts discharging instead of charging. This sequence of Charger plug-in after the phone is attached to the HaloLock is hardly convenient since the USB-C jack is behind the Phone on the Wireless Phone Charger, and impossible to do while driving. I was hoping for easy magnetic attach/detach in the car, but it takes both hands to plug in the USB-C Plug since it needs a slightly firm amount of pressure to connect the power cord. So, it’s place the phone on the Halolock, which is quick and easy, but then I have to get behind the phone with my hand with the USB-C Plug, while holding the charger in place. I may be returning, since ESR Customer Support is lacking. They sent me a generic canned response to my support inquiry about the charging issue, and I have to wait for another 24 hours for them to respond again. I tried to submit my review about this product through a QR Code link on the packaging offering a 24 month warranty, but since it wasn’t all lollipops and roses the reviw was not accepted by the link through the warranty bait.
