I bought this because I wanted a high-quality magnetic phone holder for my car. I’ve been using the ESR brand mount and charger for several weeks now and it seems like a durable, high quality item. I have it attached to my dash using included tape. Be sure that you install it and let it “cure” for a few days before actually using it. I know, it seems like a lot, but I’ve had issues with this tape not sticking otherwise. To charge, I purchased a cigarette lighter-to-USB-C adaptor since the regular USB-A ports provide only 5 watts. This is a reasonable workaround if your car doesn’t include USB-C already. It charges notably faster than when I was just using USB-A. It’s reliable. No issues. The magnet is also solid. There’s a desirable sweet spot between the phone being too difficult to pull off and the phone falling off on it’s own when driving over bumps. This product seems to hit that sweet spot really well. It’s satisfying to attach the phone and to take it off. Nice user experience. The swivel also stays as firm as I could hope. The value of this mount/charger is very good. I’ve already recommended it to my wife who is purchasing a new iPhone.

First off, you should be powering this charger with some real juice. At first, I was simply plugging the USB cable into one of the available USB ports in my Chevy, wrong! I soon learned that these factory ports are much too wimpy to power this charger, I would keep getting intermittent charging, on and off. At least this is my experience. I learned that I need to use an accessory port using a high power adapter like this beautiful one:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BLYX8SHZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1All power problems solved! Also fyi you can also purchase this exact ESR charger with their own included charging adapter for about $10 more, as a kit.My set up includes mounting the ESR charger to the ball end of a flexible metal gooseneck and it works great. I had to wrap a bit of electrical tape around the ball end to make my ESR charger fit tightly. This gooseneck has a big spring clamp at the end and can work great for any DIY install. I purchased it locally at a computer store but I believe this is the same one here on Amazon:https://www.amazon.com/SLBSTORES%C2%AE-Gooseneck-Universal-Bracket-Flexible/dp/B01GNQD5J2I would not recommend mounting this charger to a vent, especially because this magnet is super strong. I use an ESR MagSafe compatible case, see picture. It works and holds super strong on to the ESR charger, it is not going anywhere! So everything has been working great except for one thing. If you’re like me, you are constantly switching back and forth between Portrait and Landscape orientation. Every time I rotated it, the magnetic strength was so strong it would begin to rotate and unloosen the entire charger from the ball mount. Very frustrating. At first my solution was to stick on one of those charging metal rings on the back of my phone case, on top of the already existing ESR MagSafe ring built into the case. Because this provided a harder, smoother surface to rotate on as opposed to the soft plastic case material. This worked okay but the more I thought about it, I wondered why there was always so much friction when there shouldn’t be any on the smooth glass surface of the charger. Upon further inspection, I figured out that the friction was being caused by this tiny black plastic lip that surrounds the outer edge of the entire glass surface of the charger. I am talking only about .5mm in height above the surface of the glass. You can feel it with your fingernail. This is what the case surface has actually been resting on, not the glass! Is this a defect? I don’t know. But I have purchased two of these chargers and they both had this lip. Any ways, on to my modification….I modified this ESR Charger by slicing off the excess lip surrounding the glass charging surface with a razor blade, see picture. Super easy. This allows for all surfaces to connect flat on to the charging surface. I held the razor blade at about a 45 degree angle all the way around. This eliminated the ridge that was causing the great amount of friction. If you always keep your phone in one orientation then this modification is not necessary. But for those that constantly rotate it, this makes a world of difference in smoothness! I removed the stick on metal ring on my case, don’t need it anymore. The magnetic hold is super strong and I can smoothly and easily rotate between Portrait & Landscape, it works amazing! Now it is perfect, yes!
Teo’s Tips –
I recently acquired my second ESR MagSafe Car Mount Charger, a testament to its impressive performance and reliability. One unit is permanently affixed in my car, while the other serves as my companion during travels. The Good:One standout feature is its unwavering grip, securely holding my iPhone Pro or Pro Max even during off-road adventures and spirited drives. With a commendable charging speed of approximately 15 watts, it taps into the maximum support capacity of iPhones. The vent clip exhibits intelligent design, firmly latching onto the car vent with zero concerns about slippage. Furthermore, the inclusion of a 3M adhesive mount adds versatility, allowing for easy adjustment while maintaining a robust hold. The Bad:It’s worth noting that Magsafe charging can induce warmth in the phone. However, it’s crucial to recognize that this isn’t a flaw in the charger itself; rather, it’s an inherent limitation of inductive charging technologies.Overall, the ESR MagSafe Car Mount Charger stands out as my preferred choice when it comes to charging my iPhone in the car. Having experimented with various brands, none have matched the consistent and exceptional performance demonstrated by this particular model. Whether navigating rough terrains or enjoying spirited drives, this charger has proven its reliability time and again.

Yes, using a Mag-safe magnet installer on a Pixel 6 Pro the charger still charges fast and easy. The magnet on the mount is very strong and the mount to the vents are easy to install. The materials of the mount is very sturdy and provide premium feel when looking at the mount or even adjusting it.Even with a wobbling vehicle the phone would stay in place very well and hasn’t fell down even with moderate-hard shaking. The charging however isn’t blazing fast but it will still charge your device. Android (with 3rd party mag-safe magnets installed) and iPhone (12 and above) will charge if your device has Qi wireless charging.

Oh man, I completely forgot to review these, but it works out as it’s since been two years from initial purchase and they’ve certainly had their fair share of “field testing”. This review will pertain to the 2020-2021 model, as I’m not sure if they’ve updated the item since then. I’ll likely purchase one later on and update the review, but for now, this is for the 2020-2021.I started working as a courier for a service I won’t name a few years ago, meaning I needed to have some way of reliably charging and keeping a phone visible at all times. I ended up looking for MagSafe compatible phone mounts since the Scosche ones used magnets attached to the case which made them feel really aftermarket compared to a case with magnets hidden inside behind a flat color, or shown to be used with purpose.Of course, since this is a MagSafe mount, MagSafe cases are EXTREMELY necessary for optimal protection. While the mounts themselves work perfectly fine with a naked phone, a MagSafe compatible case will help when a large pothole or collision (yes, a crash has occurred) shakes the phone off the mount and onto concrete or inside the car’s cabin.I’ve tested the Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max case with the applicable phone and it works wonders. Definitely try to get first party items, but if you know you’re going to be driving safely, or you have other phones with no first party alternative (tested Samsung S21, Samsung S22 Ultra, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 12 Pro Max, and iPhone 12 Mini, all with aftermarket or third party cases), those actually hang on pretty nicely too.Keep in mind that since this is a 2 year long time period for use, the product is bound to suffer some degradation and wear. The clasp is a metal clamp with rubber on the outside, which has deteriorated due to high heat, melting the clamp and causing it to become difficult to reattach to the car vent. So long as you use sun shades and keep the car parked in cool places, you shouldn’t have an issue.Let’s move on to the pros and cons to help condense the information.Pros:-The mount is extremely easy to install-The cable is included with an adapter-The box comes with instructions and a QR code for an installation video-Easy attach to phones that have a MagSafe ring included or a MagSafe case (dependent on if the case has good magnets)-The charger is USB Type C, so it’s compatible with more modern cables.-You can use other adapters and cables with the charger, I have an adapter that plugs 4 ports in at once, and it still works two years later with no issues.-Charger itself continues to charge after 2+ yearsCons:-The included cable is too short if you want to put it near a driver or passenger door, unless your car has a 12 volt outlet near the doors and not in the center of the vehicle.-The adapter included doesn’t have any room for additional cables, meaning unless passengers or other devices need a usb for charging or dash cam purposes, you’ll have to unplug the adapter or plug the other cable somewhere else-The nut on the back of the charger itself becomes slightly difficult to tighten if you have the charger in a set position and want to ensure it doesn’t move during transit-The charger won’t be as fast as plugging into a dedicated Quick Charge 3.0 port with a cord alone, but provided that you plan on keeping your phone on the mount and not texting and driving, this will charge and sustain your phone.-If you live in an area with higher temperatures, the rubber around the metal clasp will melt and break the clamp, meaning it becomes slightly more difficult to reinstall if it falls off and will scrape your vent.-Isn’t meant for cars with weird custom vents, fits vents that are horizontally slatted.Overall, the cons definitely have no sway over whether or not the product is good or worth buying, as the majority of them are minor nitpicks I have since I have larger fingers and it’s harder to get around the back of the charger itself. I’d wholeheartedly recommend picking this up if you have MagSafe phones or a MagSafe case for something that is capable of wireless charging.Given that the product was on sale when I first picked it up, and it is currently on sale or has a slight promotion active now, I would recommend picking it up and installing it on your car for future use. I can’t say I’ve had a bad day with them, except for when the rubber broke as mentioned above.Whenever I pick up the new model, since a new vehicle may join the family fleet sometime soon, I’ll likely order it then and update this listing to include the updated review.

Fits securely into the vents which is a huge improvement over my last car mount. The magnets are strong and holds my phone securely. Charging is what you would expect from any wireless charger and will always be slower but the freedom of not having to find the cable every time I need it is great. It is a good product and good value.

Since getting wireless carplay I have been trying a few of these Magsafe car charger/mounts. This one has ended my search, as it has an extremely strong magnet that seems to ‘click’ into place (there is no mechanical bonding going on, but when the iPhone is positioned in just the right spot, you can feel a tactile engagement). It is also one of the few that have been able to charge my older iPhone SE (2020) equipped with an inexpensive MagSafe case. Most of the others would either charge so slowly that it was not even worth using or the phone would go into an annoying connect/disconnect loop, never charging. This one does not do that. Just make sure that you have a decent USB-C charging port to connect this to, as most built-in USB ports in cars (especially the ones that connect directly to the car stereo) provide only 1-2 amps @ 5V.I also like the flexible way of mounting, as I like to adhere the mount to a solid flat surface that is convenient to my driving position, usually down low and out of my field of view while driving (normally on the console surface a 12v power outlet (cigarette lighter type). One can also just clip it to the air vent if desired, as it seems to have a solid clip with a small angle plate to help position it properly.I have now purchased another for my pickup.

This is a game changer for having hands free phone in my (older) car!My daughter had a MagSafe cover for her iPhone with the purse/credit card attachment so I decided to get one too. While shopping on Amazon (hours and hours reading reviews for many brands) I decided to get this brand. I saw this “car charger” on their “site” and knew I needed to buy it – not for the charger but for having my phone mounted on my air vents so I can “see” my driving directions! I should have bought this sooner – it’s GREAT! I can now change songs while I’m driving (not having to wait for a red light or stop sign to stay “hands free”).It has a strong magnet to hold the phone in place (I sometimes have to use two hands to pry my iPhone off) and the bottom lever stabilizes the charger so it doesn’t move around (great design!)It’s an added bonus that it’s a car charger (you do need a usb port – I have an older car and had one that goes in a cigarette lighter – most newer cars have a usb port). It came with a pad to stick it on my dashboard but I didn’t want a smart phone holder there.Highly recommend this brand.

I am using the stick on mounts as I don’t care for vent mounts. (In the truck the vents are vertical and this thing flops all around! haha With the stick on mount it is incredible sturdy. The magnet holds well and it charges great. It’s nice to not worry about plugging in a cord every time I get in and out and it keeps the phone up near the windshield so you don’t need to look away every time you need to view it (such as GPS use!) Great product.

I recently purchased the Magsafe Car Mount Phone Holder, and I must say, it has exceeded my expectations. Way to install. The magnet is incredibly strong, keeping my phone firmly in place even on bumpy roads or sharp turns. I no longer have to worry about my phone sliding around or falling off the mount while driving. There’s one aspect that could be improved: the length of the holder. As someone on the shorter side, I find myself having to lean forward uncomfortably to reach my phone when it’s mounted on the holder.Overall, I would recommend the Magsafe Car Mount Phone Holder to others
