A new trailer released via Nintendo’s Twitter profiles finally reveals the release date we’ve all been waiting for, for Kirby’s first 3D platformer — Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
The trailer for upcoming Nintendo game Kirby and the Forgotten Land has got fans talking thanks to his new weapon, finally making all those Kirby with a gun memes a reality. But, with the “gun” in question an adorable, pink blaster that looks more like a kid’s toy than a weapon, the next adventure of your favorite pink, hungry puffball looks just as wholesome as you’d expect.
Kirby’s got a gun — What is Kirby and the Forgotten Land?
Kirby and the Forgotten Land is the first 3D platformer in the iconic spherical character’s series of games. As another of Nintendo’s flagship franchises, it’s unsurprising that the Forgotten Land looks, in many ways, remarkably similar to Super Mario Odyssey, which is no bad thing.
The new 3D platformer takes Kirby on a nostalgic and almost post-apocalyptic adventure around the Forgotten Land, a seemingly abandoned city which is now being enveloped by nature. A neglected theme park is covered in overgrown plants, skyscrapers are nearly completely blanketed by flora, and broken down cars have rusted over in this mysterious and brightly-colored world.
While we don’t yet know what part Kirby has to play in this new world, we do know that classic Kirby gameplay will be back – including, of course, the ability to copy enemies’ abilities – as will familiar NPCs and opponents, such as Waddle Dees and the Meta Knight. In contrast, there also seems to be a whole host of new features to explore as well, including Kirby’s new star-firing blaster, never-before-seen characters that are perhaps native to this new world, and even a gacha machine to claim collectibles.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land co-op gameplay
Nintendo has also released details of the two-player co-op features in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Get a friend to team up with you and help you as you explore the Forgotten Land. They can play as returning character Bandana Waddle Dee as you take on the Meta Knight and the new Beast Pack and save your other Waddle Dee friends.
When is the Kirby and the Forgotten Land release date?
Having initially announced the upcoming Kirby adventure in September 2021 during a Nintendo Direct stream, Nintendo has finally revealed the official release date with this latest trailer. We can look forward to taking Kirby on this 3D adventure around the Forgotten Land on it’s global release date of March 25th, 2022, when the game will be released exclusively to Nintendo Switch consoles.
