Jean Best Weapons
Since Jean is such a diverse character, she has a few different builds with preferred weapons for each of them. Here are some suggestions based on the kind of build you’re planning to use:
Main DPS:
- Aquila Favonia (5*)
- Primordial Jade Cutter (5*)
- Black Sword (4*)
- Prototype Rancour (4*)
- Amenoma Kageuchi (4*)
- Festering Desire (4*)
- The Flute (4*)
Sub DPS / Support / Healer:
- Skyward Blade (5*)
- Primordial Jade Cutter (5*)
- Amenoma Kageuchi (4*)
- Festering Desire (4*)
- Favonius Sword (4*)
- Sacrificial Sword (4*)
Basically, Jean benefits from nearly every 4-star and 5-star Sword in the game. Her Main DPS weapon options mostly capitalise on increasing her overall DPS. Aquila Favonia and Primordial Jade Cutter are her best in slot; Aquila Favonia will give her a massive amount of ATK and increase her Physical DMG, so her Normal Attacks will deal more DMG. Black Sword is a great option as it gives her a good amount of CRIT Rate. If you have it, Festering Desire can also work well on a Main DPS Jean, as can The Flute at high Refinement. Main DPS Jean also has some great F2P weapons. Prototype Rancour is essentially a 4-star Aquila Favonia, and will increase Jean’s Physical DMG. Amenoma Kageuchi is also a great Sword for her, as it gives her a massive amount of ATK and will help her charge up her Burst.
Other Jean builds can make use of most of the same weapons, but there are a few different options. Skyward Blade can work well on a healer-focused build, as it’ll get her Burst charged faster so you can regularly heal your team. She can also make use of the Favonius Sword or Sacrificial Sword, as they will both give her Energy Recharge and help with getting her Burst charged faster.
Jean Best Artifacts
Jean has a couple different Artifact sets depending on how you’ll be using her. For a Main DPS build, you’ll want to use 2-Piece Viridescent Venerer and 2-Piece Gladiator’s Finale / Shimenawa’s Reminiscence. This will help to increase both her Anemo DMG and overall ATK.
You might also want to use this set for a Sub DPS or Healer Jean. Since Jean’s healing scales off her overall ATK, you’ll want to make it as high as possible. For an Anemo Support build, 4-Piece Viridescent Venerer will be your best bet, as you’ll be able to shred your enemies’ Elemental RES which will greatly support your team’s DPS.
You might be tempted to put Maiden’s Beloved or Ocean-Hued Clam on Jean to maximise her healing, but she generally works best with the aforementioned Artifacts as it gives her more freedom with her playstyle.
For low-level players, 2-Piece Berserker and 2-Piece Martial Artist or 4-Piece Martial Artist work well until you’re able to get higher level Artifacts.
For your Artifact main stats, you will want to run:
- ATK% Sands
- Anemo DMG Bonus Goblet
- CRIT DMG/Rate Circlet
In terms of Artifact substats, you’ll want to focus on ATK%, Energy Recharge, Elemental Mastery, and both CRIT DMG and CRIT Rate. You don’t need to put a Healing Bonus Circlet on her as she generally heals a lot from her ATK stat alone, so it’s best to focus on her CRIT stats for her Circlet, even as a designated healer.
How to Use Jean
Her Elemental Skill, Gale Blade, launches enemies in the direction Jean aims at, dealing massive AoE Anemo DMG.
Her Elemental Burst, Dandelion Breeze, creates a swirling Dandelion Field, launching surrounding enemies and causing Anemo DMG. At the same time, she instantly regenerates a large amount of HP for all party members. The restored HP scales off Jean’s ATK.
As previously mentioned, Jean can be played in a couple different ways: either as a self-sufficient Main DPS, or as a Sub DPS / Support / Healer hybrid. As a Main DPS, you’ll generally be using her as a hypercarry who is on-field the majority of the time. To get the most out of her, she works well on a Superconduct team comp which will decrease your enemies Physical RES; this in turn will increase Jean’s Normal Attacks against these debuffed enemies. Good Electro characters for this comp include Fischl, Raiden Shogun and Beidou, since they can work off-field. You also have some good Cryo options with Kaeya, Rosaria, Ganyu or Qiqi, who also work off-field. For your final slot, you could use a shield character such as Zhongli or Diona, or could add another Anemo character like Sucrose, Venti or Kazuha for crowd control. You could even use Yun Jin to further increase the DMG of Jean’s Normal Attacks.
Alternatively, Jean is a fantastic healer even at low investment. Not only will she regenerate HP for the whole party upon using her Burst, but also will regenerate HP for those standing within her Dandelion Field. Furthermore, one of her passive talents, Wind Companion, will give her Normal Attacks a 50% chance to regenerate HP equal to 15% of Jean’s ATK for all party members. While this won’t be a lot, it’s a good way of passively healing if you are playing in Co-Op. As a healer, Jean will fit into most any team comp.
