Still, to do that, you will have to put together a genuinely effective squad, and that’s where our Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters squad builds can help you.

We’ve put together this guide to help you construct the perfect crew for any situation, including loadouts, promotion abilities, and unit types. Read on to become a master of the warp.

Warhammer 40000 Chaos Gate Squad Builds

Between each combat mission, you’ll have a chance to do several things on your ship, the Baleful Edict, including upgrading your units and customizing their abilities and armor. The real fun begins when you set out for a mission, as here you’ll have to select from your available soldiers to put into a 4-man squad and choose what weapons and equipment they’ll bring.

Each mission has specific needs, but you’re not always going to know what they’ll be before you start. We’ve put together a list with a few options for different squad setups below.

General Attack Squad

When you’re going into battle without an exact idea of what you can expect on the ground, this is the squad for you. This squad combines the best of both melee and ranged attacks, with the slight focus being on dealing with enemies from a distance, as this is an advantage against both ranged and melee enemies. Melee isn’t neglected either, as any large, melee-focused enemy could cause severe damage otherwise. We have a justicar to take care of any melee-focused demons who show up, with two interceptors so they can play off of each-others ability to provide free ranged attacks to teammates. Finally, you have an apothecary so that you don’t permanently lose your favorite marine.

  • Slot 1: Justicar (Daemon Hammer, Storm Bolter)
  • Slot 2: Interceptor (Storm Bolter, Force Sword)
  • Slot 3: Interceptor (Storm Bolter, Force Sword)
  • Slot 4: Apothecary (Storm Bolter, any melee, Equipment to boost WP)

Heavy-Duty Squad

This is your squad if you need high damage output and low damage intake. It’s mostly about using your buffing and rebuffing classes, combined with the ability to put everyone in terminator armor, to create an unstoppable wall of death that will give you Donnington flashbacks. With the Apothecary healing and buffing you, the Chaplain removing negative buffs from you, and two Paladins to provide the heavy combat ability support you need to get pretty much anything killed. Alternatively, you can save one of the two paladin slots for a Purgator if you need access to heavy weapons that work at a distance.

  • Slot 1: Paladin (Heavy Armor, Warding Stave, Storm Bolter)
  • Slot 2:Paladin/Purgator (Heavy Armor, Storm Bolter/Psycannon if Purgator)
  • Slot 3: Apothecary (Heavy Armor, Any Melee, Any Ranged)
  • Slot 4: Chaplain (Heavy Armor, Any Melee, Any Ranged)

Death on Swift Wings Squad

If you just want to rush in with a single insanely powerful unit, then this will be the answer to your prayers. The key here is the ability of Justicars to boost AP on other units. Once upgraded, you can effectively cover more ground and hit more often than all of your enemies put together. The two other members of your squad are an Apothecary and a Chaplain. The Apothecary is great for keeping your squad alive, while the Chaplain can boost AP even further with Litany of Hate. Even better, since the key here is these classes’ abilities you can use whatever equipment you like for the most part.

  • Slot 1: Justicar (any Equipment)
  • Slot 2: Justicar (any Equpiment)
  • Slot 3: Apothecary (Any Weapons/Armor, Items to boost WP)
  • Slot 4: Chaplain (Any Weapons/Armor, Items to boost WP)
