Vanilla Pixel 7 renders surface, the phone will be a bit smaller than the current model

CAD renders of the Pixel 7 Pro surfaced yesterday, now 3D renderings of the vanilla model have arrived courtesy of @OnLeaks and CARHP. As usual, these come with accurate dimensions of the device, plus some details of expected hardware features.

The Google Pixel 7 will be slightly smaller than its predecessor, measuring 155.6 x 73.1 x 8.7 mm (11.44 mm, including the camera bump). For comparison, the Pixel 6 measures 158.6 x 74.8 x 8.9 mm.

The 7 is expected to have a display with a 6.2” to 6.4” diagonal (the current model has a 6.4” display). It’s not quite clear whether Google shrinks the display a bit or just its bezels, but the phone will still have centered punch hole for the selfie camera.

Current rumors state that the camera won’t see much change. The vanilla model is expected to stick with a dual cam setup on the back featuring a 50 MP main module, the selfie camera is expected to remain at 8 MP. The camera bump, the “visor”, is slightly redesigned, though, it now flows into the side of the phone instead of ending at the edge.

Anyway, the new phone is expected to have some more power brought on by a new Tensor chipset. The current chip has three Cortex-A76 as its middle-cores (instead of the current A78), so that’s an easy upgrade. Of course, ARM has next-generation ARMv9 cores (Cortex-X2, A710 and A510), plus next-gen Mali GPUs (G710), but it’s unlikely that Google will want to be on the cutting edge here. Either way, the Titan M2 security chip will likely make an appearance.

The Pixel 7 will have a larger battery, according to the leak. At 5,000 mAh it will be 386 mAh larger than the 6’s battery and the same capacity as the 6 Pro’s. Given the dimensions, it might be a tight fit, but it’s not impossible (e.g. the Galaxy A32 is about the same size and has a 5,000 mAh battery).

Like the current models, the 7 should offer a dual-SIM option with the help of an eSIM module. Also, the standard 128 GB and 256 GB storage options may be joined by a 512 GB one.

The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro are expected to be unveiled in the September or October. Knowing Google’s way of doing things, we expect to see copious leaks months before then.
