Total War Warhammer 3 is filled with a variety of interesting and powerful factions. And each of these factions is led by a legendary lord. While the Chaos factions can currently only be represented by a single lord each, Kislev, Cathay and the Ogre Kingdoms all have two options available. Most lords are playable from the start of the game, allowing players to tailor factions to their specific playstyles. But did you know there are two secret, hidden Lords that are waiting to be unlocked? These unlockable lords are powerful figures that greatly alter the ways in which their factions operate.
Join us as we show you how to unlock the secret lords in Total War Warhammer 3.
Unlockable Lords: Boris Ursus
Boris Ursus is a legendary unlockable lord belonging to the Kislev faction. In order to unlock him, you need to be playing a campaign as either of the normal Kislev lords. Once engaged in a Kislev campaign, you must take and hold three specific Kislev settlements for ten consecutive turns. These settlements are Erengrad, Praag and Kislev itself. Once the ten turns have passed with all three settlements under your control, a quest marker for “The Frozen Falls” will appear.
Within The Frozen Falls, defeat the Tzeentch forces and Boris Ursus -once thought lost – will be saved!
At this point, you are given a choice. Firstly, you can send Boris to one of the settlements involved in unlocking The Frozen Falls. If this is done, Boris will create The Ursun Revivalists as an allied faction for the rest of the campaign. Otherwise, you can have Boris join your faction as an additional legendary lord.
Don’t worry, no matter which choice you pick, Boris will be playable in all future Realms of Chaos campaigns and Mortal Empires, as well as quick, custom and ranked battles.
Unlockable Lords: Be’lakor
That’s right, the original Daemon Prince himself is an unlockable lord! Depending on your point of view, Be’lakor is easier or more difficult to unlock than Boris Ursus. Boris can be unlocked much earlier in a given campaign, but Be’lakor’s conditions for unlocking are much more straightforward.
To unlock Be’lakor, you must complete the final quest of Total War Warhammer 3’s Realms of Chaos campaign with any faction. Once The Forge of Souls is completed, Be’lakor will join your faction as an additional legendary lord!
So Be’lakor is definitely going to take longer overall to unlock than Boris. But also you don’t have to go out of your way to complete specific objectives to do so.
Be’lakor is an incredibly powerful lord, as befitting his station. But sadly, these strengths come with some limitations. Be’lakor cannot start his own Realms of Chaos campaign; only being playable in quick and custom battles. And despite his allegiance once unlocked in the campaign, Be’lakor is only further playable as a lord for the Legion of Chaos faction.
