The Sustainable Furnishings Council (SFC) is celebrating their 15th Anniversary with an industry-wide party to take place on Friday, April 1, 2022 from 5-8pm. Event will be held at the CULP Innovation Center, the event’s Host Sponsor, with a spirited and celebratory theme to welcome Scarlette Tapp, the new Executive Director.
SFC’s Susan Inglis, commented, “I am wildly excited to introduce Scarlette Tapp as the new Executive Director of Sustainable Furnishings Council and Sustainable Furnishings Education Fund. She brings tremendous capacity in nonprofit management, with expertise and experience in marketing and development as well as organizational leadership. With our operations strengthened and our reach extended, look for our impact to expand significantly over the coming years. “
SFC further shared that there will also be a congratulatory event theme as accomplishments of the organization’s first 15 years are acknowledged and a special keynote is made regarding the leadership provided by Susan Inglis in her tenure as Executive Director. Inglis is now moving into the role of resident expert and educator-in-chief.
Thom Filicia, Co-Master of Ceremonies commented, “I’m excited to be a part of celebrating the 15 years of SFC’s accomplishments and looking forward to supporting the next 15. The voice and vision that SFC has in encouraging the home furnishings industry to make thoughtful and more sustainable choices for our home – both our house and the planet – is one that we need to continue to lift up. I’ve seen the companies I work with make choices in their businesses that not only allow them to do well as a company, but also do good. I hope to encourage individuals and companies alike to make steps in their everyday life, business and empowered purchases to choose more sustainable and environmentally conscious options when possible!”
SFC’s 15th Anniversary event is free to attend with RSVP here and will feature catered vegetarian food, by Vintage Catering Company, biodynamic and organic wines from the Zähringer vineyard in Germany, and locally brewed craft beer. Joining in the festivities will be this year’s event co-masters of ceremony, Libby Langdon and Thom Filicia, as well as SFC Fellow Brand Ambassadors: Breegan Jane, John Douglas Eason, and Laurence Carr.
Libby Langdon, Co-Master of Ceremonies commented, “The SFC 15th anniversary celebration is going to be a total blast! As their host for the 10th anniversary party, I am thrilled to celebrate the milestones this wonderful organization has blazed in just the last 5 years! I’m proud to serve as an SFC Board Member with my fabulous friend, and party co-host, Thom Filicia. We both experience the furniture industry from the interior design viewpoint, as well as from the product designer perspective, and I think there’s value in offering insight on where sustainability has come, where we are, and where we can go next. I hope everyone can join us for a night of good food and drink, lots of laughs during our celebration at High Point Market on Friday April 1st! We look forward to coming together and saluting all the ways we can create healthy spaces, products and network with industry folks that share those same interests!”
SFC also highlighted and thanked the following Educational Partners: Room & Board, Naturepedic, Milliken, Saatva and their current Event Sponsors: American Leather, Andrew Joseph Public Relations, Business of Home, Dallas Market Center; Koala Eco, Phillips Collection, Home Trends & Design; Creative Matters Inc., High Point Market Authority, Beatriz Ball Collection, Feizy Rugs, NC State University – Sustainable Material Technology, Currey & Co., Jaipur Living, Sabai Design, mebl | Transforming Furniture and World Tree Technologies – all of whom have donated generously to support this organization and to the 15th Anniversary Celebration for the Sustainable Furnishings Council.
