Regardless of the weather where you are (it’s raining outside the WePC office as I write), Spring has technically sprung in the Northern Hemisphere, and Niantic is celebrating with another Pokémon GO event. That’s right, buy up some more Pokémon storage – flower crowns are back in Spring into Spring.
Taking place during the Season of Alola, the Spring into Spring event will also see the Pokémon GO debut of the next Alolan Island Guardian, Tapu Bulu. Sadly, though, it won’t be wearing a flower crown. As with the first two Island deities, the introduction of Tapu Bulu will be accompanied by a new Special Research story – An Ula’ula Adventure, starting on the same day as the Spring event. Read on to find out what else is taking place during Spring into Spring in Pokémon GO.
Spring into Spring with Pokémon GO
Costumed Pokémon
As mentioned above, the flower crown is back. Whether you like it or not, you’ll want to make sure you have enough space in your Pokémon storage for yet another new variant. Pichu and Pikachu (and, by evolution, Raichu), Eevee (and its eeveelutions), Buneary, Happiny, Chansey and Togepi all return wearing flower crowns, and can all be caught in their shiny forms as well. That’s already a lot of species variants you might be looking to add to your collection. Add to that new flower crown debuts from Togetic, Togekiss, and Lopunny, and your Pokémon storage is going to be fit to burst.

Again, all of the above could be encountered in their shiny variants, so get hunting, and don’t forget to try every encounter you see!
Different Pokémon appearing in the wild
Not all of the above will be appearing in the wild, though. Some will be from eggs and Research Tasks, which we’ll get to further on. Instead, here are the Pokémon that will be appearing more frequently in the wild during Pokémon GO’s Spring into Spring event – flower crown or not.
Different Pokémon hatching from eggs
The roster of Pokémon that can hatch from 2km eggs will also be changing for the Spring into Spring event in Pokémon GO, but some will be more common than others. As you’ll read later on in the Event Bonuses section, hatch distance will halved during the whole Spring into Spring event, so save up those Incubators, and get through as many 2km eggs as you can.

Limited Research: An Egg-citing Spring Surprise
If you haven’t already seen enough of Exeggcute thanks to the Pokémon GO Season of Alola, then you’re in luck! It’s back for its own Limited Research day during Spring into Spring. For three hours only on April 16, 2022, between 11am and 2pm local time, special limited research tasks will be given from spinning Pokéstops, players will be awarded with Exeggcute encounters upon completing them. To make the slightly worth the effort, the additional event bonus of double catch XP will be live for these three hours, and Exeggcute evolved during this time will learn a new move!
Alolan Exeggutor gets a new Charged Move
Evolving Exeggcute will usually result in a Kanto-region Exeggutor, but this mechanic will be changed for the Egg-citing Spring Surprise event so that Exeggcute will evolve into Alolan Exeggutor with a new Charged Move – Draco Meteor. This strong Dragon-type move has 150 power in Trainer Battles as well as Gym and Raid takedowns, and is well worth evolving Exeggcute for.
Wild encounters change
During the three hours of the Limited Research Day, there will be a temporary change in the roster of Pokémon you will see appearing more frequently in the wild, with Spring Pokémon being replaced by grass-types.

All of the above Pokémon may also be encountered in their shiny form.
Spring Collection Challenge
Pokémon GO’s Spring into Spring event also brings with it another Collection Challenge badge to add to your, um, collection. While we’re not yet sure which Pokémon you’ll need to collect for the challenge, it’s likely to be based around flowery Pokémon and/or flower-crown wearing Pokémon in keeping with the theme of the event!
Upon completion of the Collection Challenge, Trainers can expect to be awarded that Elite Collector medal, 2,000 XP, 2,000 Stardust, and a Togetic encounter – of course wearing that flower crown!
Beginner’s Paradise – A GO Battle Day
On Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022, a new event will take place in the Pokémon GO Battle League. Named Beginner’s Paradise, this event is the perfect time to give the GO Battle League a try if you have yet to! The Great League and Little Cup will both be active for the day, and we’ve a guide for the best Battle Parties for the Beginner’s Paradise GO Battle League event if you need some pointers!
If you need more reason to give the GO Battle League a try, there is currently a Battle League Timed event taking place, which you can join at any time by “purchasing” the free ticket from the in-game shop. Completing Battle challenges will reward you with XP until June 1, 2022. Plus, Trainers who complete a “set” of five Battles (win or lose) during Beginner’s Paradise will receive the Gladion‘s Hoodie avatar item! Speaking of sets, the number of sets you can complete during Beginner’s Paradise will be increased from five to 20 – a total of 100 Battles per day!
New Stickers
More new event-themed stickers will be released at the start of Spring into Spring, featuring a selection of happy, Spring-themed Pokémon. As ever, pick them up from Pokéstops, Gifts and the in-game shop, and send the spring joy on to your friends with Gifts!
Other event bonuses
Finally, for the duration of the Pokémon Go Spring into Spring event, there will be a few general bonuses. As mentioned earlier, one of those is the ultimate PoGO bonus – reduced egg hatch times. During Spring into Spring, all eggs will only take half the walk distance to hatch! Adding to the (Easter) egg theme, Trainers will also receive double Hatch Candy from eggs, and Lucky Eggs will last twice as long!
When is the Spring into Spring event in Pokémon GO?
While we’ve mentioned the specific time-frames for segments of the event, the wider Spring into Spring event will take place between 10am local time on April 12, 2022, and 8pm local time on April 18.
Those other times again for clarity:
- An Egg-citing Spring Surprise Limited Research Day — Saturday, April 16, 2022; 11am to 2pm local time.
- Pokémon GO League Battle Day: Beginner’s Paradise — Sunday, April 17, 2022; 12am to 11:59pm local time.
