SkyPixel, a community with over 30 million registered users, in partnership with drone manufacturer DJI, today announced the winners of their annual Anniversary Aerial Photo & Video Contest. Now in its 7th year, it received close to 30,000 submissions from aerial photographers, videographers – both professional and enthusiast – from 124 countries and regions. Winners and finalists in 10 photography and videography categories received a variety of DJI products and accessories.
The Video category Grand Prize winner is Wenrui Ye, who used his drone to show viewers a metropolis from a dancer’s point of view. ‘I revisited Guangzhou, a city where I have lived for nearly thirty years, and explored it with my interpretations, memories, and a brand- new perspective. The dramatic contrast between the city and the villages looked almostsurreal, and I can’t help thinking about the countless possibilities of Guangzhou in the future,’ Ye explains.

In the photography category, Zhu Jianxin won for his abstract top-down perspective of a frozen lake with a fresh snowfall in the Taklamakan Desert. ‘The real art in photography is to capture a photograph people have to analyze longer than a few seconds to see what the picture really shows,’ said judge Stephen Foster.
It is free to upload photos and video clips to SkyPixel. All 7th Anniversary winners and finalists can be viewed on the competition’s site.
