Summary: it’s expensive, but you get some amazing tech that reminds me of those old Apple days. You get what you pay for and then some for sure! Absolutely love this projector!!!!Let me first start by saying I love piko projectors and have purchased several over the years. The technology has constantly surprised me since the day I first got one. When I found the view sonic m1 projector (older model) a few years back I instantly fell in love. However it was lacking in picture quality and brightness. The focus wheel would get loose over time and my remote snapped from repetitive use due to its thin frame. Here’s a simplified list of my thoughts on this projector.Pros:• True 1920 x 1080p resolution. It’s so clear it almost feels like 4K due to the lack of a pixel border.• Bright 1200 lumens is enough to cast clearly in a dark room with indirect sunlight. At nighttime the image is so bright, the screen glows the surrounding walls as a normal monitor or tv would.• The speakers are good, but of course they are not studio grade. The base is non existent but it can get loud with out distorting. I’d say they are better then a iPhone but not as good as a Bose speaker.• noise is perfect. The unit is so quiet and I mean quiet. It virtually is silent compared to my laptop or a console.• the menus are well designed and navigation is a treat.• the auto focus feature is perfect. The remote also has a refocus button.• key store adjust is also great. It had horizontal and vertical adjustment. You can also edit the four corners of the screen to stretch it perfectly, but keep in mind this will cause a small time delay as the projector processes and distorts the image.• the remote is small but dense and feels very high quality. The buttons are clicky not mushy and don’t have a rubber Finish but a matte finish• Connecting to WiFi allows you to use your phone to broadcast. I found this a useful feature but I already have a chrome cast and a Apple TV. I did not notice that much lag.• sturdy build quality and stand to prop it up correctly at any angle.Cons:Honestly there are not many.• The price. At 700$ (tax) it’s a pritty big pill to swallow at first. However you fully get what you pay for.• Video ghosting. It’s not a huge issue but while playing certain games I noticed a small blur outline around moving objects. It’s hardly noticeable in movies but in video games it’s detectable but not distracting.• key stone correction ( corner distorting) causes the projector to lag at 0.1 seconds or so. It’s to a point where you can notice it while gaming. This is a easy fix luckily, just don’t use the setting to stretch the edges.• no portable battery. Unlike most piko projectors this model does not have a battery. It makes sense because it’s a new breed of piko projectors that is more designed for a home theater. I’ve read it can be powered by a backup battery but I haven’t verified that personally.• micro sd card slot can’t read 64 gb cards or higher• the onboard media center software is basically bootleg Asian bloatware. It’s not a showcases feature but it’s worth noting.Final thoughts. For the price I can’t imagine a better projector. For my room my projector has become a daily use item. If your in the market for a projector like the m1 projector but want quality over mobility and afford it, be sure to pick this up! There are many many bad projectors out there that lie about the specks or sacrifice quality. Hope this review helped!! 👌🏻🤜🏻🤛🏻🤘🏻

For the money, this is a really feature-packed projector. I was looking for a projector that has 3d support. Most of the cheaper projectors, the “bluetooth” ones don’t support it. I couldn’t understand why they had every other feature, but didn’t add 3d in. However, this Viewsonic projector does support 3d and it looks really great. As far as the usual projector stuff, this projector has decent brightness — it looks ok even in a room that isn’t pitch dark (we had a few lamps on). It looks nice in a dark room. If you’re looking for a super bright picture in a bright room, you might want to consider a larger, more expensive projector. As far as 3d, to produce a 3d image you need three things. A projector (like this one) that supports 3d and projects the 3d image, you need a player that can play 3d disks (I bought an LG Bluray player that plays 3d disks) and you need 3d glasses. For glasses, I’ve seen a few people say you need to buy the Viewsonic PG-something glasses. Well, those glasses don’t appear to be made anymore. However, don’t worry, you just need to buy any regular old active shutter glasses that are for DLP projectors. Buy one of the brands that say they support all kinds of DLP projectors–this Viewsonic won’t be in their supported list, but they will work with this projector. I had a little difficulty with the glasses, probably because I was turning them on incorrectly. But, if you mess with them, you’ll get it.Also, another nice thing about this little projector is the sound. Wow! Its very impressive for such a little box. Its good enough to use to watch a movie, unless you’re really after that thunderous sound of a movie theater, then you could explore the bluetooth option and connect a bluetooth speaker to this projector. There’s a few things I don’t like. First, if you use the built in arm as a base, on mine at least, the display is crooked. Also, the projector is so light that the HDMI cable will move it. So, to get the projector properly placed, you need to mess with the HDMI cable or even tape the cable down to the table where your projector is. I mostly solved the problem by attaching a tripod to the projector — your tripod will just screw into the bottom of the projector. A pretty cool feature. It does have the ability to play movies from micro SD cards and external hard drives. I haven’t messed with any of those. Its also connects to WiFi–that went very smoothly for me. That’s nice in case there are any firmware updates, you can get them instantly over WiFi.So, overall, this is a really great budget projector with alot of features. One of its biggest strengths is that it supports 3d–very, very rare in this price range.

Pros- The M2 is Bright and clear when inside with some ambient light. love it and glad I bought it despite a few draw backs I can live with.Nice case, portable. Bought a Yoobao 26800 mAh 45w power bank works perfect with it. We enjoy it nightly, i love it, but to be fair I gotta tell you the cons so you know what your getting.Cons-the remote feels like sometimes you need to push it more than once but it could be lag, or has to be perfectly aimed, not sure yet but it lacks compared to other remotes, especially considering the year it came out.- smart apps are lame considering a mouse is required, again pointing to the lame remote that should be able to move the cursor in netflix. Roku made this a non issue. Seriously viewsonic, this is weak considering smart tvs been around a while.- the fps seems to be less than 30, sometimes 10 when watching via roku. I’m tech savvy and have yet to find the perfect settings to fix this. Could be the 4 corner adjustment causing it to lag.- 4 corner adjustment, hmm, glad it has it, but it shouldn’t have to. The auto keystone works good ONLY if its perfectly level, and your screen is perfectly level (like a blank wall with extra room to spare) however soon as you put it on a limit size (like a pull down screen) where the edges need to be perfectly lined up, you’ll need to use the 4 corner adjustment to line it up, which overrides the auto keystone and then seems to lag and slow down the frames per second.- all of these point me to belive it has a weak processor that can only handle so much. At first I thought it might be my roku sick but roku stick works fine on all my other TV’s and is a higher end 4k stick. We have very fast internet so i don’t feel like it was a connection issue.- HDR says it has it, even shows in the options, but says off and grayed out, even thought roku supports hdr it doesn’t seem to want to turn on in the m2. No other settings to turn it on, maybe it will get a firmware patch someday. Not sure it needs it, it’s already rich in color and contrast. But just knowing it should…Summary- still glad I spent extra for the HD and lumens, I can live with the issues or work around them.

Most reviews on here are for some older models, for the M2 its nice and bright, very portable, the autofocus works well and it’s unlocked where you can get root access if you want to get super technical with different app stores (although since it’s a custom version of Android 6 most newer streaming apps like Disney+ will give errors if you install from a third party app store) to do that install apps via the built in chrome (be extremely careful what you install so you don’t get malware or brick it) with a keyboard / mouse connected. They fixed the issue where motion smoothing was on all the time, the keystone adjustments work well but add some lag so don’t ever use them for gaming or anything. Too much lag for FPS games but it’s great for movies. I use mine with a yard master 2 elite screen indoors or outdoors. You can power it via usb-c for several hours with a 100w hyper juice battery bank. The Bluetooth range for audio on it is really bad (like 6 ft and it starts cutting out) and the smart features are kind of a joke, but if you just use hdmi and pair it with a tablet or laptop it is excellent for movie night, use the laptop to send audio to a bluetooth speaker, I’d recommend the marshall kilborn 2. The onboard app can also play h265 mp4 nvenc files fine from USB drives if you want to save on space. Onboard audio is decent for its size but it’s much better with external audio devices with subwoofers. Card reader doesn’t work with big microsd cards. All in all its great for portable movie nights. Also works ok streaming to it directly from an android phone, but the built in YouTube app is buggy. Photo is it projecting on a 100″ screen.Edit: 2021 update, with a 3080 laptop it works at 1080p120 (120hz input but it still only outputs at 60hz) and lag is minimal for gaming with keystone adjustments turned off.

I bought this specifically to display digital decorations for Halloween. I had some issues getting them to display well on the window but that was more a function of my expectation than a limitation of the product.I was pretty impressed with the internal packaging. It presented well and had a quality feel. The projector itself is compact and has a little weight to it. Some projectors feel cheap but this one felt like an actual product. The projector was easy to set up (I skipped the manual entirely). I played movie clips from a USB on loop and connected to a bluetooth speaker outside. The clips played flawlessly back to back without any interruption. This was key as my other projector would drop out to the “desk top” ruining the sequence.I don’t think there would be any issues playing a movie and using the internal speaker. The volume was pretty loud as I discovered after forgetting to shut it off at night and when my bluetooth speaker died, the internal speaker kicked in at 2 am with some scary sounds.I would recommend this one.

The media could not be loaded. VIEWSONIC M2 MODEL ( NOT THE M1)UPDATE JUNE 29th, 2020So now we have tried the projector several times.1. Photos: I Included one at sunset to show that image is amazing with the sun not fully gone. A second photo to show our set up using apple TV. The video clip shows movie in darkness, with all my accent cafe light and tree spot lighting on behind us and did not effect the image. This was good so you have some light to walk around the yard and be able to see and not trip.2. Speaker: YES, YES, YES YES… it connects to SONOS!!!!!! We were able to finally get it connected vie APPLE TV. We bought the new Sono speaker that has been sold out and it has AMAZING sound…. SO HAPPY!!!!3. Customer phone service: Positive, they pick up phone calls fast and try to help. Negative, they really cannot help you trouble shoot anything and are not familiar with products enough to help. To their defense this is during Covid, when company’s may not have normal staff working.4. The 2.5 hours of cordless viewing…is for the other model, NOT the M2. Because the listing has many models I miss read. Bummed out, but was not a deal breaker as I found that I can use the C PORT to plug projector into a POWER BANK ( has to be Min 45W or the port will not work).ORIGINAL REVIEW:We LOVE IT! I spent hours researching and made a list for OUTDOOR movie theater. There were a lot of reviews online for the M1 but that model is so different that M2. This is why I had to leave a review as there are not that many and based on customer purchase videos found online it looks like it has been more popular outside if USA. I took that as a good sign as I worked for a European company for 20yrs and was amazed how in last 10 years they seem to be more advance / tech savvy customers.1. Picture amazing, I was worried because a lot of web site say for outdoors you need min 2,200 Lumens.2. Sound, not bad. Will be connecting speaker via cable, until we can research more the Bluetooth situation. From all the research I know a lot of projectors are struggling with offering Bluetooth feature. I hope we can figure out how to connect to SONOS!3. WIFI all good, we used apple TV with this projector.4. Looks AMAZING, I really did not want to get a big and clunky looking projector. I had back up Epson and BenQ in this price range in case this one did not work. This one is slick and looks so good with out home decor. I was worried that at 100″ + size image would loose quality, but did not. Looks great.5. The 2.5 hours of cordless viewing was key. Have not tried this out, but this is another reason I chose this. I want to be able to move it around the house if needed and especially for CAMPING or California blackouts were are stuck with not electricity.I will add photos as soon as my projector screen is up end of this month.PS. There is one consumer video online, were he plugs the Viewsonic WIFI stick to the back, That is possible, but get in the way of adjusting projector. Thanks to watching another video in a language I do not speak ( picture speaks a thousand words) I say they hooked it right in the same place compartment it comes in. The instructions book makes it a bit confusing.PSS. I wish they did not clump all these Viewsonic product in one Amazon listing, as I had to go through all 30 pages to find the 3 reviews on this model.

I bought this for my wife for her birthday present.Frequently we watch our daughter’s performances on YouTube, as she is in musical theatre. We travel a lot but also find the convenience of using our iOS devices to be more user friendly than streaming on a television. This is a nice portable sized projector. The size of the picture is dependent upon the distance from the wall. The picture quality is very good for a portable device with vivid colors. Brightness and contrast are adjustable. There are different default settings but I find adjusting parameters myself is better. The speakers are by Harmon Kardon which are quite good.I bought this because of the excellent battery life that this has. It was also quite small in size with the variety of features. The remote control is responsive without a lag. It is easier to use the remote for navigating the menus than going by the buttons on the device.I have gotten this working by Screen Mirroring, using my iOS device if the iOS device and this projector are on the same network. Otherwise I can only broadcast Disney Plus, HBO Max or Netflix by using an Apple HDMI Lightning adapter. This has a large AC adapter and a small Velcro case but I have ordered a specific designed carrying case for this.It was not intuitive to set this up for me. It took a lot of experimentation to determine what would make it work, and I almost returned it. But to make a copyrighted show work through this I had to use an HDMI Lighting adapter.I have android devices, too. So I will need a USB-C HDMI adapter, I’m sure. The device turns on by flipping the lens cover down, which also works to adjust the height of the picture. There is a control knob to adjust focus.A compartment on the left hand side reveals the slot for memory cards, HDMI, USB and USB-C ports. There is an interface for mounting upon a tripod if you wish to use one.Overall, we just watched Kobra Kai on this projector at the hotel, and it was great.I’m glad I got it for the wife.

I’ve owned two ViewSonic Projectors, the M1 and the M1+ and while I liked them both, the picture was not bright enough for daytime or nightime viewing with lights on in my living room. But both of them were very good, small, QUIET, easy to use projectors. The M2 really raises the bar. Here is a summary of why it is so good:-> Dead quiet. No fan, period. For viewing indoors this is a must. I tried other more traditional projectors and just could not get past the sound of a fan running constantly.-> Bright enough. I had to keep the lights off in my living room, drapes closed, skylight blinds closed with the M1 and M1+. No longer with the M2. Easy to watch with lights on or during the daytime.-> Autofocus – All three ViewSonics have been good for keystone adjustments, but both the M1 and M1+ requires you to manually turn a focus knob on the side of the projector. The M2 autofocuses every time it powers up and any time you want with a push of the remote button.-> Complete control – the remote works better on the M2 than either of the M1s – not requiring you to point it precisely at the projector. The ViewSonic remote app for the iPhone works great. And the Amazon Alexa integration works great too.The only downside to the M2 is it doesn’t have a built in battery like the M1s both do – if you want to use it for business or educational presentations where you have to setup and project quickly the M1s could be superior, but the lamp brightness of the M2 is so much better that it really shouldn’t be an issue to have to plug it in.

Decided to purchase this over the anker nebula. The deciding factor for me was how viewsonic implemented the kickstand into their design. This is so practical and even protects the lens when not in use.Picture and brightness is outstanding. It impresses friends and family immediately.Sound is excellent for the size. Also receives compliments. Here’s some awesome awesome sound features … 1.) output to Bluetooth – this allows you to have audio playback on some other Bluetooth speaker in replacement of one the built in to the projector. 2.) Bluetooth speaker function… This turns the projector image off and allows you to play audio using this as a portable Bluetooth speaker. The battery life is surprisingly long – especially if the brightness is set low for optimum battery conservation. With a nice bright setting I think I got a solid hour of battery life. Again, expect longer battery if using lower brightness setting. The App Store might have updates later, but currently it offers Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Spotify all integrated which is cool. I just use screencast.I’m really happy I made this choice. In the end I just wanted the best picture/brightness in a small projector. The sound and apps were a bonus.

Again, if u look, most reviews are for the M1 and not the M2, the M2 is really good, if you have realistic expectations. Projectors much like in a normal theater, work better in the dark. It’s not 4K sadly but at $560 it’s fine, it checked off ALL boxes for me.Small, Bluetooth, WiFi, DLP, 3D ready.Image quality is great for what this is, it’s bright enough for my needs. As it is people coming over feel they are in a legit theater as I project on a bare wall at about 135”.The 3D (if you have fun with it) works at pro levels. I have zero issues, a few said they do but you need to make sure you’re using the right HDMI to push the bandwidth right, and get good active shutter glasses. The projector supports DLP-Link and I went with Xpand glasses, they are the best quality, I get zero stutter and ZERO ghosting with those glasses and this projector. The UI sucks, immediately use a Fire stick or Apple TV or Roku. Do not expect super crazy bright, that 1200 Lumens is a Viewsonic marketing thing, it’s been honestly measured to be 550ish ANSI Lumens.Get it on sale, $680 is to much, but lots of tech crammed in.
