gonna make this short and sweet. as a standalone headset, where the recommendation is to plug it directly into the controller, I agree with some of the negative reviews that the sound is way to low even at max volumes. which is a deal breaker for me especially when playing FPS. so I give 3 stars at best.now my current setup is to pair this headset with the Astro Mix Amp Pro, and boy does it unlock the full potential of this headset. the sound is much louder and fuller, and the amp allows you to up the volume for the game and voice chat. I know this headset is meant to be budget friendly, so buying the mixamp on top would make this about a $150 headset. but in my opinion, it’s worth it. comfort is amazing. the clamping force on the ear and crown of the head is virtually non existant which makes its easy to game for hours without any discomfort. I’ve only had this headset for a few days, so I can’t say much in terms of the longevity of it. I will update this review as the months pass to see how it holds up. so far, I’m very impressed and I’m hoping to keep this setup for a long time.

Had purchased this item for my kiddo who likes to play minecraft, and we didn’t want to buy the adapter piece for the xbox controller. Upon delivery, packaging looked great, product looked great/felt great, easy to connect to the controller. But upon opening and trying to use them, the mic would cut in and out, and the speakers weren’t working. So we decided to return the 1st set and ordered a replacement. The replacement order came quickly! Like, literally the next day. But the replacement was defective also. The left speaker didn’t work. After attempt 2, we just wanted to return for a refund. All of this was the end of Sept/beginning of October. We sent out the return, and have been waiting for the item to be refunded. Even after they had received the item, I wasn’t refunded. I had to contact Amazon to inquire about the return status, which they said should be returned Nov. 18th. *fingers crossed* They seemed like a great buy, but we do not recommend.

I use these for gaming and listening music. For gaming, they really sound clear, and I can hear more detail when compared to my older headset. The mic is able to pickup my voice clearly (according to friends), and they don’t seem to pickup much background noise, which was an important factor to me as my old headset was very sensitive. I was surprised how light these were, and they are not bulky, so you can wear these for a long time comfortably. These are pretty good for listening to music as well. The bass is decent. So, the overall sound quality makes this headset well worth the price. One thing I dislike about this headset is the cable. It’s very flimsy and will likely rip/tear over time, particularly where it connects to the ear cup at the top. I imagine that it will rip from that point and expose the inner wires from over time use and bending. The cable length is fine though as other headsets seem to have overly long cable lengths.This headset appears to be a newer product (as of late 2019) from HyperX. Before purchasing this headset I was researching other headsets close to this price range. This product didn’t have much reviews for being rather new, so I felt like I was taking a gamble (as other similar headsets have hundreds of reviews). It definitely paid off. This a fantastic headset for this price, especially if this is your first gaming headset.

Bought 2 of theses headsets (one for each of my kids) and am really happy with them. They connect to their Xbox one with no converters needed. So far these have been much more durable then then other brands they’ve had in the past. They have no complaints so that’s a win for me!
