I needed a replacement DVD player for my mother in law. She had a Sony and it lasted for 20 years. So I went looking, and found this, an exact replacement model. I have always had a lot of luck with SONY, lasts long, performs well. Price is reasonable, since there are not as many DVD players out there like 10-15 years ago. some resellers are selling units for a lot more than a fair price. This is a basic unit, RCA output connections, not HDMI, so read the tech info to make sure it will work for you. It was exactly what I needed!

this is 2024 I purchased a Sony DVD player from Amazon. In the DVD player instructions there is no option for Vizio, but there is every other brand you can think of. The code “04” worked which is for “Gildstar” brand, which I have never heard of, but it did work. This DVD player product number is DVP-SR210PThe DVD player works great. 10/10. Will last years and years. If you have problems with the compatibility just try ever code suggested in the instructions for other brands, in my case a code for another brand worked.

Did you know that CD players are extremely expensive these days? When I decided to change from a shelf unit to a receiver/speakers and a CD player – I thought the CD player would be the cheapest thing I’d have to buy. NNnnnnope! CDs are outdated technology and I the cheaper units are no longer made. I wondered why this is… and then I realized that unless you’re an audiophile (or need a carousel), you’re probably just using your DVD or blu ray player in place of a CD player! Good thought… unless you have a cheap blu ray player and there’s only an HDMI hookup (which didn’t match up with the receiver I purchased). So…. I found this little Sony DVD player for around $30 and decided I’d give it a try. It came before scheduled, and it works brilliantly in place of a CD player. It doesn’t even look ridiculous next to my blu ray player! The sound is terrific, the unit is very small and the buttons to play, eject and stop are on the top right corner of the unit and easy to reach if you aren’t using the remote. I’m very satisfied with this purchase!

Paired this little Sony DVD/CD player with a Wiim Pro and Fosi BT20A Pro mini amp, and it sounds great. I used the digital coax out on the Sony DVD/CD player ( to bypass it’s internal DAC ) and am using the internal DAC of the Wiim Pro……Sounds Fantastic !PS; A Coax-to-Optical Digital Audio Converter Adapter is needed to complete the digital connection between the Sony DVD/CD player and the Wiim Pro.Item can be found here ; https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D7TDXF6?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

Have this hooked up to my class D amp and using it as a CD player. Smallest CD player I could find that’s a brand name. No display because it’s meant for a TV but for $35 dollars you can’t expect much, but plays CD’s crystal clear and sounds great !
