Many antennas on the market are optimized to receive only UHF broadcasts and do not reliably receive VHF. All RCA TV antennas are precision-tuned to receive both UHF and VHF frequencies and will provide you with the most HD content that is available in your area – the most popular over-the-air TV shows, news, sports and more.

I can’t believe how many indoor antennas make ridiculous claims about range that cannot be achieved with physics and electronics. Or they promise you that their magic antenna will bring you premium pay channels. This pretty humble antenna was reviewed by the “Antenna Man” on YouTube. He’s a knowledgeable and straightforward source of information on both indoor and outdoor antennas. He makes it clear that the best signal is always obtained by getting up as high as you can. And he keeps modest expectations for indoor antennas by comparison.I already had a flat UHF antenna and a very simple rabbit ear unit for VHF. (Puny would be a better description.) I used an antenna combiner to feed them both. This allowed me to angle each antenna with the hopes of getting the best possible reception for both ranges. I used rabbitears.info, providing my address and got a listing of stations and their tower locations.I live in a single level town home in Las Vegas roughly 22 miles from the towers. Outdoor antennas are discouraged but not prohibited. I wanted a simple solution for feeding my Amazon Fire TV Recast Tuner/DVR. This RCA antenna provides both UHF and VHF elements. The Antenna Man was impressed with the VHF signal sensitivity and that was what I desperately needed. He points out that VHF is harder to broadcast. And that this RCA antenna provided the best VHF results among the many indoor antennas he’s tested over the years. The Fire TV Recast has pretty finicky tuners compared to most TV sets and I was having a hard time pulling in our CBS station with my puny rabbit ears.I had to patiently try various angles and locations, staying close to a window. I was able to swivel the VHF antenna elements many different ways– a strong point. Also this antenna has longer elements than most inexpensive rabbit ears. (Bear in mind though: some stations work better by reducing the length of the elements– you have to test!)I am thrilled that I was able to pull in all the network affiliates (CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS and Fox). Across VHF and UHF bands. Also a bunch of indy stations with vintage sitcoms and game shows. All of this while keeping the antenna in one location and without having to reposition anything when changing stations.I don’t think the built-in amplifier made a significant difference. But evidently you MUST plug in the power supply EVEN IF YOU DECIDE YOU DON’T NEED THE AMP.I am happy to say that this antenna met my needs. But if you’re in a rural area distant from the broadcasting towers this is not likely to solve your reception problems. I suspect that for homes 40 miles from the towers, this antenna will provide only marginal results. But if you’re in a core metropolitan location with decent line of sight to the towers and you have some VHF stations, this antenna may be a good choice for you too.

This Antenna is awesome ! We had an 8 year old antenna on a TV that doesn’t have a cable box. I felt as though we were not getting as many channels as we should, as we were only getting about 13 channels. We used to get Channel 5 , which is WCVB in the Boston area , all of a sudden that wasn’t coming in anymore. I called the station to see if the problem was on there end of our end. Spoke to a guy in there engineering department and he said, ” they were having an issue with there transformer but all is fixed and we should be coming in clear “. I told him ” we were no longer getting this station and he said, ” make sure you have a good antenna”. I thought to myself the one we have is 8 years old and maybe I need a new one “. I bought this one as the reviews were pretty good and if it wasn’t that good I could always return it. Once I put this antenna on the TV which by the way, it was so easy to hook up, you put power pack in the outlet and just plug it in , then you just put the co axle cable in the TV and that’s it. I pull up the rabbit ears and just like that, all these stations were coming in, that we never got before ! I could not believe it ! I was picking up about 60 stations ! Just awesome ! I just was in disbelief of all the stations that were coming in . We got channel 5 back and so many more, stations I never knew even existed ! This antenna is wonderful ! This solved our problems with getting more local stations. For at least the area we live in , this antenna tuned out to be the best antenna we have ever bought for this particular TV. This may work great for me and not work good for others. I imagine it depends on the area people are located and if there mountains and all that. I can speak for myself that this antenna is just fabulous and cannot say enough great things about it. As I said, we now have over 60 channels and this is without a cable box, this is just for local stations. Just awesome ! I went from 15 stations to over 60. Very pleased with this antenna, great investment and picked up way more channels than I ever thought it would. Would highly recommend this antenna. I could not be happier with the results ! I’ve tried several antennas with mixed results, none stellar. This works well and is attractive. Very rarely do I need to move or adjust and then it’s a minimal adjustment. Hook it up, place it, and scan and you’re good to go. Very pleased with this antenna and recommend it highly.

I think it’s really a matter of where you are in relation to the signals and how much interference there is in between. For me it took all of maybe five minutes from setup, channel scanning and antenna positioning to get the exact channels I was hoping for. There is a window near the TV and I just put the antenna on the ledge with the rabbit ears fully extended and the booster on. I thought I would then adjust as needed but nothing more was needed. Crystal clear channels immediately. I was only hoping for the three main network channels but the channel scan gave me 49 channels in all, all of which look great. I’m very happy with this antenna.

Up to our video switchover from NTSC-M analog broadcasts to ATSC on June 12, 2009, I assumed that antennas were an interchangeable commodity; after all, our family was blessed that we lived 4.5 miles away from the Roxborough-Andorra Antenna complex in Philadelphia, Pa. Overnight, due to that conversion, on the one hand, the picture clarity improved from 334i to either 720p or 480p, on the other hand, ABC’s Channel 6 alias WPVI, became a daily game of video tag, which led to me constantly adjusting the dipoles to corral it! Leading to, at best, pixelation & at worse, the signal going AWOL periodically, causing me to miss either the “This Week” News program or the prime-time programming ABC shows; I had to get rid of the Radio Shack. rabbit ears pronto! This tug-of-war combined with an inferior small-time, nadie, cabecilla Haier panel I won at a Xmas party caused a severely bent pin in the red section of the TV VGA port, causing a magenta pink tinge to anything done on the PC side and loss of the connection bolt on the Haier TV!I became acquainted with the predecessor 1251E @ Target & snared the Samsung J5500 panel in 2017. That combination ended the battle between the tuner vs. antenna! Not only was I was finally able to annex the cuckolding channel 6 station, but I was able to pull in between 75-80 channels and substations, but every time I scanned, more would show up like lawn 🌿s!Unfortunately, when I had to move to North Carolina from Pennsylvania, both didn’t survive the transfer; the power cord went practically poof! & the J5500 showed what looked like a test pattern on the top part & darkness on the bottom! Even though I still had seven months left on the package protection deal, I never asked your fellow competitor to honor the remainder because I thought they would merely replace it with another 1080p panel, & when I beheld the 4k visual vista! I WANTED IT!!!!!!!!!! In the worst kind of way! As for th as for the antenna, the amplifier power cord also went missing, which impacted its signal snaring success; the siren-style sale seduced me to go for a Frolovv antenna which claimed to capture stations within 300 miles of one’s television. What I learned from a YouTube video from a fellow Philadelphia resident, “Antenna Man,” was an 👀 opening, 🧠bending epiphany! NOT ONLY did he strongly annihilate that claim of Frolovv’s, stating that it was fraudulently bogus due to the earth’s curvature limiting antenna annexation of TV signals to 70 miles max! But it was the only one that could score low channel VHF stations & that any company hawking long-distance claims is scamming the public! So just on that evaluation alone! It caused me to get this new, improved edition with this model; I was able to snare 58 channels and subchannels in a video market that’s half the size of Philly!

Currently live in Southern California, about 32 miles away from the broadcast tower, in slightly hilly area with some surrounding trees. Had YouTube TV previously but since I don’t watch live TV anymore, decided to cancel and get an antenna. With football playoffs coming up however, decided to try one of those flat window antenna first and got about 40 some channels in total, inc CBS and NBC. The window antenna failed to get any reception for either Fox or ABC which are VHF transmissions in my area. I was disappointed; wished I could get at least two channels that carried football and didn’t want to install an outdoor antenna either. So, after more research, I decided to try to this RCA antenna. And did I make the right decision!! After a few location adjustments, I was able to get 100 plus channels over the air (yes, all of them big networks too: CBS, NBC, ABC, and Fox) So, I’m more than satisfied with the result and I’d recommend this antenna to anyone who lives in similar situation with outdoor antenna not being an option. Make sure you place it near a window 😉
