The radios work well inside of buildings. When combined with headsets the units allow confidential conversations. The range of the units is impressive with no license required. I love the central charging station.

First things first, if you want the full capability of these radios, download the software and by the connection cable. They do everything we have ever needed and more. The vox does work great, the ability to program the radios to not walk all over each other is wonderful. With the software, this set is better then the old Motorola radios we’ve had in the past. I actually bought ours on Amazon last spring, and we’re looking at getting more, just because they have been so reliable. The one thorn is the same issue I’ve had with every radio, accidentally changing channels when you don’t want to. One solution we came up with, was that we only use 2 or 3 channels, so each frequency is on four channels, so 1-4 is channel 1, 5-8 is channel 2, and so on. This way you could bump over to ch 2 (which is still channel 1) and not be out of touch. The other small complaint is the horrible voice used to announce channels, please Retevis, quit having non-english speakers try and say english words. Voice talent in the states is not that expensive, spend $300 and have someone that speaks english make your channel 1, 2 3. It might sound okay to you, sounds cheap to us.

Battery life is amazing with the 3000mah battery well built radio even the shoulder speaker mic is outstanding it’s not dmr but I think its very well built for the price and will definitely buy again

Just finishing up a cruise where we specifically bought these for it. For majority of the time they worked wonderful. I was able to get ahold of my kids and find where they were and know when they were moving. The issues we had were when we got to the Bahama Port there were 4 other ships and had some interference of other walky talky. We changed channels and kept it moving. The other issue was from the front of the boat in the breather floor 6 to the back of the boat floor 15 they no longer worked; but that is ok if someone was in the middle you could relay to each other.Outside of the ship at our house it works over .5 miles away. We live in the open though so not much to block the sound wave. Overall very happy with the purchase and would suggest it to anyone going on a cruise.

These radios have a pretty decent range. I used then on my college campus and it was able to work about a mile apart even with all of the buildings in between!
