There are two ways to power your radio: use the included NiMH rechargeable batteries for up to 12 hours or use 3 AA batteries for up to 29 hours. To recharge the NiMH batteries, choose from one of three ways: connect it to your vehicle adaptor or your computer, or plug the micro-USB cable into an outlet.

I was impressed of technology has improved over the years. I experimented around the neighborhood over one mile and in and out of buildings. The communication was clear with no interference whatsoever. Great buy!

Battery life is about 2 days. One and a half days of heavy use for us. Sound quality is remarkable!! And there’s never that annoying “KRCHHH” at the end of each transmission like every other radio I hear. Super good range too

Been using different flavors of these FRS/GMRS radios for many years, mainly for hunting. What I like most about these Motorola radios is their compact size compared to many on the market. I have a pretty good Midland but I don’t carry it often because it is so big and bulky. I was looking for something smaller and more compact than my Midland and these do the trick for me! The sound quality is definitely much better also (no offense Midland, but it’s true). I can’t account for longer distances yet, as I have not used them more than a few hundred yards from someone in the woods yet (they worked great at about 300 yards over a hill with a fellow hunter!), but I am sure they are just as good, or better than my Midland. I see some folks complaining about the rechargeable batteries in these – do yourself a favor and just use good AA batteries in them and you won’t have any issues. I use Energizer or Duracell and they last a heck of a long time. I have never had great luck with the duration of rechargeables in these radios in general (not just this radio, but also in other brands). Haven’t even unpacked the rechargeables that came with these radios, I won’t use them. Anyway overall, these radios get a solid thumbs up from me! A+ .
