I was using a TI-89 which is far superior, BUT, it is not allowed in the math department at my university only the TI-83 Plus, TI-83, and TI-84(including their various releases). The calculator FEELS very basic, however, with a little knowledge you can take the calculator on through Calculus 3 as I understand, I dont believe that it can do derivitives so you’ll be writing those out by hand. I purchased “TI-83 Pluss Graphing Calculator for Dummies” And I would say that a book of that nature really is mandatory, its no fun hunting thing down on the calculator itself or within the different tabs, say math for example you may never know that what your looking for is in one of those tabs. The advertisement for this calculator is a little decieving it says you can transfer files to and from your calculator. This is true but you have to purchase a special cord which is essentially a 3.5mm jack(not sure actual size) on one end that you plug into the bottom of the calculator and a USB connection on the other end. You also have to download the software to move the files from the Texas Instruments website. None of this really matters in my opinion because as little as two programs will fill the calculators memory, not worth it. The graphing calculator is well made, seems a little light in the hand but overall construction is solid. Takes 4 AAA batteries and has an auto shutof of 5 minutes. It really is a decently powerful calculator that will get you through your math and is just powerful enough to not let you cheat. I personally have not taken any calculus so I cant vouch for its usefullness but I was told, by many instructors that this was the calculator to buy and would be of the most benifit, for what the department allows, through Calculus 3. To add to what I said earlier about getting a book, the calculator comes with a pamphlet on how to use it, garbage.

My granddaughter needed a calculator. When I showed her the ones I had she liked this one out of the two. But when I put batteries in I found it didn’t work. So I thought I’d go on Amazon to see if I can find a used one. I know back in the day I paid around $100.00 plus & it went through all four of my daughters. So I can say I got my money’s worth. So I went on Amazon & found a used one, reasonably priced. I received it today & it looks new & it was very good taken care of. Works great. I’m very happy with my purchase…

The Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus Graphing Calculator was a must-have on my 6th grader’s school supply list. Purchasing it from Amazon proved to be a convenient choice, sparing me from navigating back-to-school crowds and searching for it in stores. With quick delivery and hassle-free shopping, Amazon made the process a breeze.

Even though it doesn’t have the features as the ti84 but it gets the job done for my stat class and I passed..

I had been using a TI 30 but needed more graphing capabilities so this was a perfect upgrade and good price.

Bought my TI-83+ in high school, used it through college, and my daily work as a hospital pharmacist. While I don’t need graphing anymore, we use exponential decay functions and natural logs for estimating antibiotic levels.I feel unprepared without this calculator. When a patient is laying on the bed having an ischemic stroke, and the neurologist is barking at me to mix alteplase STAT, and I need to calculate a weight-based dose, I’m not gambling with a junk phone calculator app that doesn’t even display the expression I just input once I press “Equals”. I’m not taking a chance with someone’s life. I need to be sure.Yes, Windows 10 has a calculator. But have you ever tried doing natural logs on it? You’ll want to pull your hair out. You’ll get nonsense answers.Even if you don’t need graphing, this calculator is great because you can see all the expressions and answers on 1 screen. The ANS key is indispensable; you can quickly use the previous value without having to figure out confusing MEM+, MEM recall, MEM – like on other calculators. Does it have the best screen resolution, processor or memory? No. Does TI have an entrenched monopoly on the Education market? No doubt. It’s still a great, purpose-built reliable device that gets the job done.

It is very reliable and versatile to use. Plus it came at a great price. To be honest this one will stay in the family and will get passed down
