Build quality is good and a feels great in the hand and in use.I tired to use Ni-Cd rechargeable batteries, but the unit worked only minutes. The first set of alkaline AAs are still good after I labelled everything I could. The included label spool has not run out.I bought a narrow (about 1/4 inch) black label spool. The white print looks great on black AV equipment.

I love my Brother labeler. The old one is very handy so I bought a newer model for the workshop.works just the same only a newer model. Would recommend.
