So this was really easy to set up from the Quickstart guide. Just download the software, your quickstart guide gives the website address. Don’t use the included disk because it will be out of date. Plug in the printer, plug in a USB printer cable, no it doesn’t come with one but I have spares from old dead printers. Plug cable into computer, turn on printer. Windows will automatically install drivers, this isn’t a problem. Run the software installer. It will walk you through the installation. Put in your network key when it asks you, not your router password. It connects right away to your network. Unplug USB from computer. After installation you can use the included IPrint & Scan software tool icon to tweak your printer settings from browser based ip address that opens automatically when you click on the tool icon. You can log into your settings using the admin password that’s on back of the printer and this will give you a more complete set of settings. You can print out the initial settings from there as a baseline in case you change something and don’t like it. The menues are pretty self explanitory though lack detailed info. You can download all the many printer guides from the Brother site for your printer. The complete online guide is good for opening in your web browser and being able to click on the table of contents to quickly get to what you want. If you save it as a PDF you won’t be able to click the TOC links. It’s too fat to print out unless you like wasting toner and paper. This guide gives all the printer menu options on the LED and how to access them from the printer. You can set the toner Continue mode from computer, the deep sleep mode has to be set from there printer. I haven’t had any problems with it coming out of deep sleep. The printer automatically enters sleep mode but comes out fast, warms up fast from power on and prints very fast. The double sided setting works very well. You can set your print preferences from your print options menu from whatever program you are using, toner save, paper type, toner density etc and save them in custom settings tab. I’m using a 20 lb paper, so it does curl from the heat. I’ll try a thicker 32 lb paper for when I need better copies. I ran 80 lb smooth cardstock through and it handled it well but did get some heat curling. The printer doesn’t feel hot. Paper just doesn’t like heat. It’s not that big or heavy and fits well in my small office. The cord is a decent enough length, 3 pronged. Paper tray is adjustable to different sizes. Print is good and clear, toner can be adjusted from very dark to toner save, in your printing preferences. Sign into brother-usa.com to register your machine. I’m using this to print plain documents and high quality black and white graphics. Grey tones are good too if that’s what you are needing. Brother Creative Center has lots of free projects you can use for printing or to use their graphics. I like Brother products, have had good experience with them. Haven’t decided if I’m going to use after market toner or stick to Brother. Depends on how fast I end up going through toner. I’m giving a 5 star rating for tech support though I haven’t called them for this printer, that rating is based on tech support I’ve received with my other brother all in one ink jet and my brother scan n cut. The printer came new, well packaged and fairly fast. It’s not pretty if you’re looking for pretty. Please note I’ve had this printer only one day and if things change I’ll update to reflect that. I paid full price for this printer, 115.00, so this review is totally my own.

This is the newer model of the Brother HL-L2340D printer which this replaced. The older version was awful regarding going to “sleep” and not wanting to print. I kept having to unplug that model and resetting almost every time. Also, it had to be plugged into my router to work. This unit worked out of the box with a simple setup. It did NOT have to be hard-wired to my router to function either…a big plus! It prints fast and does a very nice job.

First, you should know it brings a cartridge. I didn’t know this… I couldn’t see it in the listing…and bought one just in case. No regrets, but still.-I was able to remove it frome the box, attach it to my laptop through USB, and set up the wifi all in 15 minutes. I didn’t have to download any software or read instructions. So self explanatory that I was blown away. The instructions are pretty nice too just in case you need them.-The printer is just great for the price and the printing quality is just as good. The printer itself is light and good looking.- hopefully it last as many years as my hp did without issues.

This Brother Printer has all the features you could ask for in a monochrome laser printer. It can print fast or you can put it in quiet mode, just great low noise. It does duplex printing. It scans. It has a long lasting toner cartridge, high resolution. Does wireless and networked. Just what I wanted and just what I got. Great value for the price.

idk what the confusion is over how to set this printer up. you don’t need a usb cable, you don’t need a laptop. just install the toner, scan the barcode for the android (or apple) app, follow the directions and you’re done. 5 minutes tops, and that’s with a firmware update thrown in. the only thing i’d say before you start is to take a picture of the labels on the back before putting the printer into its final location as it ships with a temporary password printed there that you’ll have to change during setup. after the setup, it’s going to show up on your network as as normal printer and you just go to your various PCs and add it. done. you can change the settings (dpi, default options etc) within the windows (or mac) print settings or if you’d like there’s a nice web interface for the printer that allows complete customization and status info (toner life, drum life, timeout options etc).print quality is great (true 1200x1200dpi) and it’s quiet, compact and inexpensive. really the perfect printer for a person who thinks printers are…not…needed in 2024…

Brother printers are top-notch in terms of value, quality, and support. I used inkjet printers for far too long before getting fed-up with low-quality HP units where replacing ink set me back more than the cost of the printer itself. This laserjet model is far more reliable, doesn’t have to self-clean in the middle of the night, and replaceable toner cartridges last far longer than their inkjet counterparts. Everyone should have the means to print resumes, letters, and other documents at home. This printer is also capable of printing labels (using the right paper stock), and can automatically print double-sided pages.Make sure to do your initial setup by tethering the printer to a pc or laptop with a USB cable, as the wireless setup requires you to scroll through the entire alphabet to type in your wifi password into what looks like the display of a cheap calculator. Once set up, it works like a charm and can print from PCs, Macs, and mobile phones. I wish that this printer had LAN connectivity, but that’s a minor gripe and not worth taking points away for.

I’ve had several printers in my life and I’ve never been happy with any of them for various and sundry reasons. Until I bought and used this Brother printer that is.I didn’t want or need a fax machine, a scanner, or a copying machine. I didn’t need a color printer. All I needed and wanted was a printer for printing. Just printing. (Does anyone even fax any more?)Before I bought another disappointing multi-feature machine, I researched and read reviews and researched some more, seeking a basic printer that wasn’t “cheap” (as in one that would quickly burn out and subsequently be relegated to the trash can); all that research led me to this printer. I cannot express how happy I am with the decision to purchase it. I bought it some time ago but only decided to write this review now because I wanted to be certain that it would meet my expectations over time. It did and it has in fact exceeded them. It’s easy to set up and comes with Brother’s option for a printer cartridge replacement plan, which I chose to use because there really isn’t anything more annoying than running out of printer ink, something that almost always happens at the most inopportune times. If you are looking for a black and white laser printer, I highly recommend this one to anyone who simply wants a printer that “just prints”. You will not be sorry.

Traded in an almost new ink sucking color all in one printer from a well known company whose printer cartridges cost more than this printer and dried up faster than an apple in the Mojave Desert for this model. The benefits of this one purpose laser jet printer is that it is fast, reliable, and you get a heck of a lot of pages from a cartridge that doesn’t dry up. The cons are that it only prints black & white and isn’t a copier or a scanner. Who uses a scanner anymore anyway? Snap a photo! If I need a copy, I go to the library or Kinko’s or again I usually just snap a photo. Black and white printing is just fine. If I want to print photos there are ways to do that too from various services that are cheaper than using outrageously expensive toner on expensive printer paper. The only con to this machine was the unintuitive set up instructions. I got through with my fingers crossed because the instructions were gobbledygook.

I am not a big user of printers so, over the years, I have owned many inexpensive ink jet printers and havefound that I spent too much on ink as the cartridges inevitably dried off in the hot weather – as a result I have thrown out every ink jet printer I owned (except my photo printer, which then became obsolete due to software issues). This laser printer is always “ready to go” and prints beautifully – both once sided and two sided documents. The only issue is color! This printer is strictly “Black and White”, which really is not a problem unless you want to print photos.

I had a hard time with the wireless setup (I’m old and not super tech savvy), but once that was done, it’s worked flawlessly. Relatively small footprint, affordable, long lasting “ink” cartridge. This is my second Brother laser printer — had to replace the first one when it was no longer supported by new Apple computers/phones. The first one, which I had for years, is still perfect — just needed wireless.
