This GPS have been used everyday for a little over a month in the Sun and rain and it has worked flawlessly. It came with most mounting hardware and was very easy to install. Screen is bright enough to be able to see on sunny days. I would definitely recommend this GPS for anyone to use on their motorcycle if they are looking for a stand-alone GPS system.

This is my fourth Garmin motorcycle GPS model over 20 years, replacing a zumo XT (actually 3 of them over 5 months) I’d tried earlier this year but Garmin fully refunded my money due to too many issues on the XT. Once I read about the zumo 396 LMT-S, I was intrigued that it had many of the same, newer features of the zumo XT which I really enjoyed but the price was much lower because it didn’t have things which weren’t important to me. The 396’s screen can be customized to display a wealth of information, and although obviously smaller than the XT’s screen it is large enough to easily read all of the available while riding. Initially I was concerned that the 396’s screen may not be bright enough in full sunlight, but even when wearing my darkest sunglasses there is never an issue and the non-glare screen works very well (the reflection/glare seen in one of my screen pictures was made solely by my camera – zero glare or reflection to the naked eye). As expected, the touchscreen works fine with gloves just like every other Garmin product I’ve used. The mount is much more secure and easier to use than the XT’s, which I never liked or got used to. I’ve bought a second 396 mounting bracket and power cable for my second bike, and look forward to many years and miles of service from this GPS which I consider a bargain.

Few things to understand, this is an older device and there are newer units available from Garmin…..that being said, this does exactly what I need it to do, I need a simple GPS to keep me from getting too lost, actually, I enjoy getting lost and need a GPS to get me back to civilization most of the time…this is weatherproof and works on my motorcycle, again, simple, the size is a benefit to me as I wanted it to fit above the bar riser on the bike…time will tell how well this holds up, but this is not my first Zumo and by far not my first Garmin, so I am not too worried about the device not working…

I bought this GPS for my wife’s new Triglide Harley Davidson motorcycle. She hasn’t used it a lot, but I’ve used this brand in the past, and they have always proved to be a good brand.

The later model Zumo devices were too steeply priced for me, and I wasn’t sure how useful a dedicated gps was going to be, so I opted for the older, cheaper model. It did everything I needed it to on a recent thousand mile trip through the mountains. The touch screen is an old school resistive interface, which can be pretty frustrating to input addresses on, but it can be operated with gloves on. The response time when typing can also be super slow. But when it’s doing its job navigating, it’s fantastic. Being able to get a glimpse of texts that come in is helpful to know if it’s something you need to pull over for, and music controls are also handy at times. I’m glad I saved 50% and grabbed this over the later models, as I don’t know what functionality they offer that I’d need, and a smaller screen on a bike seems less distracting.

I don’t like the way you have to toggle back and forth to use the a punch street addresses
