If you already know what kind of structured plans are and don’t need so many metrics, then this is a better, affordable option. Screen is very large and benefits from a lot of the features offered in the 2023 series of Garmin devices. Coming from a 530, I never used some of the more sophisticated functions. It provides all the metrics that matter on any ride, navigation is a huge upgrade from what I had before and the on-device music player is nice. The only feature I miss is the inability to add my etap gears, but something I’m okay with not having. Battery life is great, usually lasts for a out 4-5 rides (each of about 40-50m distances). Works great with varia lights too.

My dear husband just wants to know how far, fast and long (in time) he road. He doesn’t care about heart rate, perceived exertion and all that. And he wants something easy to use. This fit the bill perfectly. The screen is easy to read in daylight (think AZ daylight!) and the menus are easy to maneuver. I’m sure it does much more, but if you’re not into that and easily frustrated with bells & whistles you’ll never use, this is the Garmin for you. He has to charge it after every third ride (a ride is usually 2-3 hours) but it’s a small inconvenience. It’s a sweet little device.

Had the Garmin 530, did not like screen size, functionality and to many problems. Got the Garmin Explorer 2, bigger screen, does what’s needed plus. Easy to read operate and touch screen. So far I’ve used it for over 300 miles on my bike, free riding and trails, able to monitor all travels, performance stats and alerts. As well keeping others in the loop with live track

Have only done a few rides with it, but love it so far. Can create a ride on my phone in the Garmin app, but prefer to do it in Komoot instead, then send to the Explore 2 unit via Garmin Connect on the phone. This part I wish was a little bit more straightforward, currently it can take minutes before the ride shows up on Explore 2. Perhaps a relatively slow Bluetooth connection is the unavoidable bottleneck, or maybe I just haven’t figured how to trigger the sync faster. But it works, and I really appreciate the super long battery life on the Explore (have done two several hour rides and battery still at 70%). It’s nice to save the phone battery, cuz using that for Komoot navigation drains it in a couple of hours. Also the navigation user experience on this Garmin Edge Explore 2 is so much better — the automatic rerouting for one is quite seamless, plus it’s nice to get real time information about climbs and other stats while still getting directions.

Easy to use, accurate, and has intuitive operation. Works great as a fitness too to track a great number of biometric features with the Garmin Connect app, and Garmin accessories such as cadence sensor and speed sensor, temperature sensor.I especially love the safety features such as accident notification and sharing geolocation by using the view my ride feature. We go to some remote spots mountain biking, so that is nice.A++

Has all the features for navigating rides. I ride with a group for some exercise and conversation. Did not need all the performance tracking of the other Edge models. Radar sensor easily and reliably pairs Explorer. Battery life is adequate about half charge at the end of 30 miles over a 2+ hours of riding.

I upgraded from the explore 1. I mostly use it as a floating map, but sometimes use it to follow a course. The screen is sharp and clear. I really like that external temperature was added. On the explore 1 I had to use a tempe. Very useful during the heat of summer or the cold of winter. Battery life is amazing . I used to have to charge every other ride, but now it’s every five to six rides. If I were a long distance rider, it would easily go 2 full days.

I needed a newer generation Garmin GPS to synch up to my new Garmin bike light and radar detector and did not want to overspend like i have done in the past buying high end Edge series GPSs. I also needed a larger screen in order to be able to see the icon for incoming cars behind me. Also needed a touch model. So, all in all, a good quality bike GPS worj just the right amount of features.

Just went on my first ride and it worked great. It’s very customizable with lots of data screens to choose from. The display is very easy to see even when the sun is out and bright. I almost went with the 130 plus but glad I didn’t due to its screen size. This screen size of 3” is perfect for me. It was shipped very fast and I’m going to enjoy this. This is my first bike computer.

It took a bit to read through and understand this amazing little computer, but after I took the time it was so well worth it. Would highly recommend this product for the “casual” rider.
