Works exactly as intended with no issues.Ignore the review with the long rambling complaint about saved parking mode videos. The person who wrote the review obviously doesn’t know how to use/change the settings in the Garmin “drive” app.-Go to settings-Select Parking Mode-Select one of the following Motion – Impact – Motion/ImpactIf there are a lot of cars or foot traffic passing by your camera while parked and you don’t want a video every time this happens then set it to record only if it detects an impact. It should only be set to record motion if you’re curious to see whats going on outside your car. Do not set it to record motion for the purpose of catching a thief. If they break in to your car they are going to steal the camera with the memory card and the motion detection will have been pointless. On a quick side note, the reason parking mode videos are automatically saved is because when the recording occurs you’re obviously not in the car. It’s saved to prevent it from being overwritten before you have the opportunity to view it.Installation is straight forward and didn’t take long. If you’re comfortable with performing basic wiring on your vehicle than installation should be easy. If you’re not up to the task then any stereo shop and/or the majority of mechanics should have no problem. I found the quickest/most efficient method for installation was to purchase fuse taps(2). If you don’t know what those are a quick Google search will provide all the info you need. They can be purchased on Amazon or at any auto supply store.Only complaint/drawback is the price Garmin charges for this. Garmin should really include this with the camera or at the very least lower the price.

fuse taps make it a lot easier to install. I used to install Garmen Mini 2 and it works extremely well. Parking mode and a super clean install. Use an always-fuse

Works just as described and is simple to install. Comes with very long wires which are super useful for being able to hide the wiring.

I connected two separate cameras for both the front camera and the rear camera. Since the cable is short, an extension was made to connect it to the rear camera. Otherwise, it is successful!

Installation relatively easy on my VW Touareg TDI. You’ll also need the pigggyback wires for the fuse box.Check the voltage though; it didn’t power the camera initially and I spent some time replacing the wire connectors until I realized that it cuts off if less than 11.7V (was just under in my case).

Gave a 3 star for installation because to achieve a seamless (neat) install takes moderate skill. I give a 5 if you don’t care about exposed wiring. The instructions are great and have an easy to follow schematic diagram anybody can understand. But it’s nice to hide the wiring through the headliner and that might not be something that everyone can do easily.Once installed it works great. The activation is impressive especially at night. I’ll review a parked video and the camera starts filming when the movement is 180’ out.I noticed that it has some hiccups in very cold weather 0-20f. It’ll record fine when parked but when I start my truck it will sometime shut off and restart several times and then works fine. That could be a issue limited to me. Who knows. But once the camera (Garmin 45) warms up it runs great at start up.I think the electronics are affected by the cold. Worth the money. And worth the time for a neat and clean install.

I purchased this cable for my Garmin Mini 2 Dashcam. I didn’t like the idea of having to connect to the power outlet on the console with the power cord visible. The USB plug routes the cord upward, allowing you to tuck it between the windshield and the headliner. It was easy to “carefully” remove the trim on the driver’s side A pillar and route the cord under the dash.Installation note: My car is a 2002 Acura RSX, it was necessary to feed the wire from under the dash up to the camera location because of the circuit box on the cable.I have the luxury of a factory service manual for my car so I was able to locate the necessary fuses to power the camera in parked and driving modes. I also purchased fuse taps to connect the wiring to the car. These plug into the fuse panel, maintaining the existing circuit and provide an additional fused line for the camera. The additional fuse should not exceed that of the original circuit. This eliminates the need to modify the wiring harness of the car.I’ve set the parking mode limit to two hours to prevent undo drainage of the battery.

This did 2 things for me, 1 the wire was hidden (I hate seeing wires) and allowed me to use parking mode. I got lucky that I had 12v constant and switched right above my map lights so I was able to tap in right there and not have to run it down the A pillar and into the fuse box.

To ensure proper operation with this unit, it is necessary to acquire fuse tap wires. It’s important to select a variant that is compatible with your specific fuse box dimensions.

installed this on my 2015 f150 and it looks so much better than a dangling wire. i tucked it under my headliner and down passengers side a-pillar down to the fuse box and had to connect it to two fuses and the ground. one wire needs to go to a fuse that always has power and the other wire goes to a fuse that only has power when the vehicle is running. this lets your garmin know when to go into parking mode which uses less power. this process sounds much harder than it is and there are plenty of full write ups online but any person who is somewhat handy should have no problem with this install and start to finish shouldn’t take more than 30-45 minutes
