Very nice, small ball mount. I’m using it with a cold shoe to hold a flash unit for macro photography. Provides stability, easy adjustment and a wide range of angles.

Well constructed and sturdy. Gets the job done well. Gotta have a couple in the tool box, very useful !!!

I am writing this review right after installing one of these ball adjusters because I realized it works contrary to some of the other reviewers. There is a catch however, and that is after you tighten the base down the notch on the side points to whatever way it wants to point once tightened. What this means is you can’t get a 90 degree pivot out of this unless it happens to point in the direction you need. You can still pivot it but only about 20 degrees or so. That was enough though for my apication. The fix may be to grind another slot with the Dremel if you are into that sort of thing. If not, you can put a 1/4 inch washer on the threads sticking out at the bottom so when you tighten the base the notch will point in a slightly different direction. You could try 2 washers but you can’t put too many or the remaining threads might not be enough to adequately hold your device in position. If that’s not enough then buy two of these pivots and use them in tandem. That will give you about 40 degrees without using the notch. I actually did get two just in case but only needed one to hold my 10 inch tablet.Oh and I didn’t have a problem tightening it. The metal seems strong enough for the intended purpose also.So to sum up, it’s versatile but partly depends on your application. If you are not sure get two of them that should cover a plethora of applications. Good luck to all of you.UPDATEI found that if you use two in tandum you can get any angle you want.

PROS: * Quality metal Mounts that are priced very reasonably, so far I’ve purchased this set three times. All six of my mounts are usable, with only one being a little stiff. * There are so many ways to use these, one being to add flexibility to thrifty monopods that do not have adjustable mounts making them more usable. * I’ve used these for overhead shots holding small cameras rock solid in place. * Come with an allen key, shoe mount, and 1″ x 1/4″ threaded rod for each mount. * Even the shipping box comes in handy in that it is well labeled and fits nicely in a drawer for storage * So far I’ve used these for holding lights, cameras, and even scripts. If you can think of more uses I’d like to know.CONS: None noted.Yes I’d buy these again and recommend to a friend. If you have any questions leave them below and I’ll do my best to answer or find you someone that can. Thank you.

This is the second SmallRig product I have acquired and I am impressed with the quality.Packaging is boutique quality and there is no plastic or frustrations opening the little box.Inside are the 2 camera mounts carefully wrapped in paper safety wrap and a small cloth bag with Allen wrench and set screw x 2 incase the included knob screws are too intrusive for your application.I played around with these and mounted them on a selfie pole and took a couple of shots.Nice! I can feel the quality all around. You won’t be disappointed.

I’m using these with this product from Amazon: “UTEBIT 11 inch Flash Bracket, Dual Camera Mount Flash Bracket Extension Bar with 1/4 Screw” and they work great together to hold LED lights as shown.

Very useful for rigging anything to your camera cage.

These are really well made…. at least, they FEEL that way. There is some good sturdy materials used and they’ve got a little heft to them to feel durable. However, after attaching a ~2ft LED light bar to them, and setting them parallel to the ground, I felt like I might be on the edge of its limitations. What’s great is that is the EDGE of the limitations as you can have ALL the vertical angles that are less than 90 degrees and be quite confident (especially if you weigh the tripod down with a sandbag). Putting them at 90 degrees and putting anything with weight feels like it MIGHT tip over (no sandbag) or worse, the “ball-in-socket” design will snap or pop out. For me, this hasn’t happened but I also feel this light bar is just light enough to not make that happen. I also kept it low, like the lowest the tripod would go so it was the best base set it could be at. But if you’re just looking for something to allow you to angle things around that are mostly vertical, you shouldn’t have an issue. Hence the 5* rating. Oh, and it’s basically $10/each so that’s a good bargain (unless it falls over/breaks and damages your light…..)
