I’ve been using the insta360 X3 Mic Adapter with my camera, and it’s been a great addition to my recording setup. The adapter functions seamlessly, which is a huge plus. It’s always a relief when an accessory works well without any fuss, and this one fits the bill perfectly. The audio quality captured through this adapter is noticeably high, which significantly enhances the overall video recording experience.A remarkable feature of this mic adapter is that it remains invisible in the image. This is particularly impressive given the 360-degree nature of the camera, where external accessories often become a part of the shot. The adapter’s design ensures that it doesn’t interfere with the camera’s field of view, maintaining the immersive experience of 360-degree footage. However, there are a couple of considerations to keep in mind. First, with the adapter installed, you can’t use any cases with the camera. This might limit the camera’s usability in certain environments where additional protection is needed. Secondly, the adapter compromises the camera’s waterproofing. This is a significant factor to consider, especially for those who use their camera in outdoor or aquatic settings. In conclusion, the insta360 X3 Mic Adapter is an excellent tool for anyone looking to improve their audio capture quality without disrupting the visual integrity of their 360-degree footage. Its seamless operation and high-quality audio output make it a valuable accessory. Just be mindful of the limitations regarding the use of cases and the loss of waterproofing when planning your shoots.

I paired it with the MOVO wire less mic. The adapter and the Mic were hidden in the stitch line. The camera is not waterproof with adapter in place of course. The adapter has to removed to be able to change out the battery. The adapter is very easy to install or uninstall. The door to the USB C socket has to removed also by lifting up and then pulling straight out.

AFAIK, Insta360 X3 is the only 360 camera able to record airplane intercom audio, and you’ll need this adapter (or equivalent) to do that. There may be other solutions, but this definitely works. Remove the waterproof cover on the camera plug, stick this in and it sticks out the side. Strap the cable down to the base and it doesn’t seem to show up in the video, at least not that I’ve noticed. I use an NFlightCam adaptor cable for the 3.5mm tap into the standard headset plug. There may be cheaper solutions, but these work fine, no adjustments to anything needed, just plug in and the audio’s there. Don’t use selfie sticks or external mics, so can’t speak to those.I just leave it on all the time even though I remove the camera after every flight for download and recharging. The accessory rubber lens cover fits around it, and there’s a USB-C plug on it for dowloading and recharging.

Works well and as promised. I use this with my Anker wireless mics.

I was worried about the adapter, not sitting in to the USB port when my camera was in his protective metal case. This proved to be no issue and generates fantastic. Sound quality from my external shotgun mic!!
Amazing customer –
As expected

With the adapter you can utilize a professional mic which will give your audio a much more crisp sound

This little mic adapter is a must-have for using the Insta360 X3 if you want to add your own external microphone. The built-in audio on the X3 is fine as long as you are close to the camera, but if you get far away (ie. when shooting 360 video), then the audio quality can really go down hill. This mic adapter seamlessly attaches to the camera’s USB-C port and allows you to add your own 3.5mm or USB-C microphone — IMO the best mic is the Rode Wireless Go II or the DJI Mic. I also recommend getting the Ulanzi cold shoe adapter so that you can mount the microphone to the rig.

Lets you use an external wired mic, or in my case to supply the camera with power while keeping the wire out of view.
