Seemingly jealous of his baby mama Katy Perry’s association with the Pokémon franchise, Orlando Bloom has made his own move into gaming. The actor’s likeness and name are both coming to mobile medieval strategy game King of Avalon in a partnership launching on March 10, 2022.
Orlando Bloom becomes Orlando the Nightshard in King of Avalon
Orlando Bloom has teamed up with Funplus, the team behind King of Avalon, to develop a full story for his new character, Orlando the Nightshard, that will run for the next few months. Orlando the Nightshard is a playable character, so you yourself can kit up as the star’s new mini-screen role, and embark on a new adventure through Dragonsholme City.
Referring to the ever-increasing link between movies and video games, the official Funplus press release quotes Bloom as saying, “At a time when games and movie characters are blurring the lines, it was cool to see my character, Orlando the Nightshard, come to life.”
Who is Orlando the Nightshard?
Orlando the Nightshard is a half-Unmelted knight thanks to a fateful run in with the Unmelted when travelling alone, causing him to cut off his right hand – but not before the Unmelted curse had already struck. Now, he wears a prosthetic made from the rare material Nightshard, forged for him by the “Raven Man”, and carries a blade made from the same material.
The Nightshard Blade becomes Orlando’s unique King of Avalon skill, and the sword deals extra damage to all foe’s, with the level of additional damage depending on the player’s Infantry health. What’s more, any Troops led by Orlando the Nightshard deal extra damage to opponents each round.
