New 5-minute Kirby and The Forgotten Land trailer

Last Updated:

Nintendo UK have shared a new trailer for Kirby and the Forgotten Land, featuring a massive five minutes’ worth of gameplay, mechanics and abilities.

The new trailer is the longest yet, and maybe the last, with the new Kirby game’s release date drawing ever closer. The newest trailer gives us the best look yet at Kirby’s different abilities, and just how many objects and creatures can be sucked up as Kirby sets out to save the Waddle Dees.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land new overview trailer

The new trailer gives us a look at the new locations featured in the all-new Forgotten Land, a post-apocalyptic world overrun with nature. While we may have seen flashes of a shopping mall and amusement park before now, the new trailer confirms these locations, as well as a gorgeous “beach where Summer never ends”, and – in contrast – a city covered in snow. These are just some of the new places Kirby will visit on this new adventure, as Nintendo are clearly still saving some surprises for the game’s release.

All Kirby’s known abilities in The Forgotten Land

  • Bomb
  • Drill
  • Fire
  • Hammer
  • Needle
  • Ranger
  • Sleep
  • Sword
  • Tornado

Some of the abilities gained when Kirby inhales his opponents will be familiar if you’ve played past Kirby titles, and some will be brand new. We’ve seen the likes of Bomb, Fire, Tornado and Sword before, all of which will be reappearing in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Drill, however, is an all-new ability for Kirby to master, and can be used to make the most of the new 3D environment. And Kirby gun memes come to life with the Ranger ability, which we first saw back in January.

What’s more, you will be able to upgrade Kirby’s abilities using Blueprints, gaining the likes of Deep Sleep, Storm Tornado and Chain Bomb. Enhancing abilities will increase their range, damage and overall effectiveness.

The new Kirby trailer also holds some bad news… Carby isn’t called Carby after all. Instead, when in Mouthful Mode, Kirby will take on a range of new “Mouth” abilities, never before seen in Kirby games.

Riung Mouth
  • Arch Mouth
  • Car Mouth
  • Cone Mouth
  • Dome Mouth
  • Light-Bulb Mouth
  • Pipe Mouth
  • Ring Mouth
  • Stairs Mouth
  • Water-Balloon Mouth

Check out all of this and more in the jam-packed overview trailer above and on Nintendo UK’s YouTube Channel, and prepare for the adventure of a lifetime.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land release date
