This High Point Market, SELECT by John Thomas Furniture, Whitewood Industries’ bestselling custom finished program, will add some fifty high-fashion fabrics to its custom seating program for shoppers looking to fuse comfort and fashion at home.

SELECT, launched in 2007, began by offering a simple assortment of thirty-six paint and stain options. The intention was to offer something for everyone without overcomplicating it. The company has stayed true to its initial vision by periodically discontinuing tired colors and introducing newer on-point choices over the last fifteen years.

In 2012, the company added an upholstered seat option with several basic, solid fabric options. According to John Thomas Vice- President of Marketing, Bryan Sprinkles, the plan was to offer a simple, cost-effective upholstered seat solution to retailers. Eventually, the company would add a performance option to its line-up, adding more options, yet at a much heftier price point.

“When we started to see that upholstered seats were important, we added a few more options at retail — yet it wasn’t necessarily an affordable option for everyone, and the colors and patterns were still somewhat limited”, states Sprinkles. “Today, the ratio of sales on upholstered seats to wood seats is sixty/forty. That’s significant, and a true indicator that shoppers want soft seating in their kitchen and dining spaces.”

In response, the company will add fifty high-fashion, cleanable fabrics to its line-up and will tier the program — making it more affordable for shoppers.

The fabrics will be available on the company’s wood dining and stool seats, as well as their upholstered solid hardwood maple chairs and stool collection which encompasses three chair and stool styles and is fully made in America.

The tiered program offers solid options at no upcharge in the Standard tier, goes to fifty dollars for the new Designer tier, then tops out at seventy dollars for the Premiertier. All pricing is per seat.

The new program can be seen at their 215 S Main Street Showroom during the April 2022 Market.
