This enticing addition to the IRIX cine lens lineup was officially introduced back in January and finally it’s hitting the market. Together with the rest five counterparts of the IRIX Cine Lens set this seems to be a more than affordable solution for those filmmakers aiming to pick a high-quality wide-angle full-frame lens for their projects without breaking the bank.
Considering the entire IRIX Cine lens lineup, you can now get exposure to six affordable cine lenses covering a wide range of focal lengths including an 11mm T4.3, a 15mm T2.6,21mm T1.5, a 30mm T1.5, 45mm T1.5, and 150mm T3.0 Macro.

The housing of the all-new IRIX 21mm T1.5 is made of aluminum-magnesium alloy, thus delivering consistent weight with other Irix Cine lenses line – 1.1 kg (2,4lbs). Just like its siblings, the 21mm T1.5 comes equipped with a lens support foot which provides better stabilization and comfort while working with follow focus systems. Depending on the needs, this support foot can be attached to the lower or upper part of the lens.
When it comes to optical design, the IRIX 21mm T1.5 includes 4 Extra-low Dispersion glass elements, 4 High Reflective elements, and 2 Aspherical lenses. There are total 15 elements in 11 groups. The image circle of 43,3mm, on the other hand, is completely covering every sensor size from Full Frame 35 down to 1/3” sensors.
The circular, 11-blade iris construction, provides a pleasant background blur and a smooth adjustment in the entire range from T1.5 to T16 with practically no focus breathing (below 1 degree in full range from 0,3m to infinity). According to IRIX, this full frame lens is also distortion-free (below 2%).
All IRIX Cine lenses have a front size of 95mm and geared Mod 0.8 M rings, which ensure compatibility with most accessories available on the market, like follow focus or mattebox. The entire set is also resistant to rain, sand, snow, and dust.
