Kujou Sara is a 4-star Electro Bow character who specialises as an Electro Support, and is available on the Character Event Wish, Epitome Invocation and Wanderlust Invocation Standard Banners. Keep reading to find out what materials are needed to Ascend Sara, her best builds and an overview of how to use her effectively.
Sara Ascension Stat
All characters in Genshin Impact have a particular stat that levels up alongside their base stats. For Sara, this extra stat is ATK%. While not groundbreaking, this will help to increase her overall DMG.
Sara Ascension Materials
Once you have obtained Sara and maxed her to Level 20, she can be further levelled up through Ascension. The materials you will need to Ascend Sara are as follows:
Level 20 | Vajrada Amethyst Sliver x 1 Dendrobium x 3 Damaged Mask x 3 |
Level 40 | Vajrada Amethyst Fragment x 3 Storm Bead x 2 Dendrobium x 10 Damaged Mask x 15 |
Level 50 | Vajrada Amethyst Fragment x 6 Storm Bead x 4 Dendrobium x 20 Stained Mask x 12 |
Level 60 | Vajrada Amethyst Chunk x 3 Storm Bead x 8 Dendrobium x 30 Stained Mask x 18 |
Level 70 | Vajrada Amethyst Chunk x 6 Storm Bead x 12 Dendrobium x 45 Ominous Mask x 12 |
Level 80 | Vajrada Amethyst Gemstone x 6 Storm Bead x 20 Dendrobium x 60 Ominous Mask x 24 |
Vajrada Amethyst Slivers, Fragments, Chunks and Gemstones can be obtained by defeating Electro Hypostasis, located in Mondstadt, and the Thunder Manifistation, located in Inazuma.
Storm Beads can be obtained by defeating the Thunder Manifestation, located in Inazuma.
Dendrobium can be found across Yashiori and Kannazuka Island, Inazuma. They are mainly located on Nazuchi Beach, the Kujou Encampment, near the Pyro Hypostasis and near the Maguu Kenki.
Damaged Mask, Stained Mask and Ominous Mask can be obtained by defeating Hilichurls, which can be found all over Teyvat.
Sara Talent Materials
In order to make Sara stronger, you’ll need to upgrade her talents. The materials you will need are as follows:
- Damaged Mask
- Stained Mask
- Ominous Mask
- Teachings of Elegance
- Guide to Elegance
- Philosophies of Elegance
- Ashen Heart
The Teachings, Guide and Philosophies of Elegance can be obtained by completing the Domain of Mastery: Thundering Valley every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. Meanwhile, the Ashen Heart is a potential drop from the Weekly La Signora Boss.
Sara Best Weapons
Sara has plenty of good weapon options, since she prioritises Bows with high ATK:
Skyward Harp | 5-star |
Elegy For The End | 5-star |
Polar Star | 5-star |
Thundering Pulse | 5-star |
Amos’ Bow | 5-star |
Mouun’s Moon | 4-star |
Alley Hunter | 4-star |
Sacrificial Bow | 4-star |
Sara’s best in slot is the Skyward Harp. Since it has the highest Base ATK of all Bows in the game, it will give her the highest increase to her ATK buffing Skill and Burst. If you don’t have it, any other 5-star will work thanks to their high Base ATKs. However, Elegy for the End can work particularly well on her since it will give her a high amount of Energy Recharge, and its passive will buff your team, giving Sara extra utility.
In terms of 4-star weapons, you’ll want to give Sara the ones with the highest Base ATK, so Mouun’s Moon, Alley Hunter and Sacrificial Bow are all good choices. Mouun’s Moon and Alley Hunter will allow Sara to deal a bit more DMG while buffing your team, whereas the Sacrificial Bow will both increase her buffing and give her plenty of Energy Recharge to charge up her Burst.
Sara Best Artifacts
Sara has a couple different Artifact sets that work very well for her, and the one you choose will likely depend on what you already have on your team. If you’re not using her alongside a 4-Piece Noblesse Oblige user, she can make good use of this set since it will provide an addition buff when she uses her Burst, as well as increasing her Burst’s DMG.
If you already have a Noblesse user, 4-Piece Tenacity of the Millelith is also viable. While the 2-Piece effect is useless on her, the 4-Piece set will buff your nearby party members when her Skill hits opponents, which gives her Skill some extra utility.
For low-level players, 4-Piece The Exile works well until you’re able to get higher level Artifacts.
For your Artifact main stats, you will want to run:
Sands | Energy Recharge / ATK% |
Goblet | Electro DMG Bonus |
Circlet | CRIT DMG / Rate |
With your Sands, you’ll only want to use an ATK% Sands if you’ve got enough Energy Recharge to keep her Burst up on cooldown. In terms of Artifact substats, you’ll want to focus on ATK%, Energy Recharge, some Elemental Mastery, and both CRIT DMG and CRIT Rate.
How to use Sara
Her Elemental Skill, Tengu Stormcall, summons the protection of the Crowfeather. Gains Crowfeather Cover for 18s, and when Kujou Sara fires a fully-charged Aimed Shot, Crowfeather Cover will be consumed, and will leave a Crowfeather at the target location. Crowfeathers will trigger Tengu Juurai: Ambush after a short time, dealing Electro DMG and granting the active character within its AoE an ATK Bonus based on Kujou Sara’s Base ATK. The ATK Bonuses from different Tengu Juurai will not stack, and their effects and duration will be determined by the last Tengu Juurai to take effect.
Her Elemental Burst, Subjugation: Koukou Sendou, deals AoE Electro DMG. Afterwards, Tengu Juurai: Titanbreaker spreads out into 4 consecutive bouts of Tengu Juurai: Stormcluster, dealing AoE Electro DMG. Tengu Juurai: Titanbreaker and Tengu Juurai: Stormcluster can provide the active character within their AoE with the same ATK Bonus as given by the Elemental Skill, Tengu Stormcall. The ATK Bonus provided by various kinds of Tengu Juurai will not stack, and their effects and duration will be determined by the last Tengu Juurai to take effect.
Sara generally works best as a support on Electro teams. This is because of her C6, which makes it so that the Electro DMG of characters who have had their ATK increased by Tengu Juurai also have their CRIT DMG increased by 60%, which is huge. However, even when she isn’t at C6, Sara is still very viable and can be used on most teams in Bennett’s place, although Bennett is generally the better option of the two. That being said, she’s the better option for buffing Electro-Charged teams, since Bennett’s Burst messes up Electro-Charged Reactions, whereas Sara’s doesn’t. Sara can also work especially well on a Eula-Raiden team alongside Diona and act as the main buffer of the party, or just generally when paired with Raiden to boost her Burst’s DMG.
Overall, while Sara is usually outperformed by Bennett as a support, she does have her niches. Electro teams are where she shines, but she can be used in other team comps in a pinch.
