Last Updated:

As you get to explore your procedurally generated world of Core Keeper, you will encounter plenty of resources. One of the resources you’re going to need to farm is the game’s tin resource. So, for those wondering how to get tin in Core Keeper, and what exactly you need it for, we will answer those questions.

How to get tin in Core Keeper

Core Keeper Tin
You can buy tin from the bearded vendor.

Core Keeper’s tin is largely a resource you can acquire in the clay caverns. It is the second biome in the game, which you can locate at the edges of the dirt biome you start in. While mining through clay, you will more than likely stumble upon shining walls, just like you can with copper. Simply mine up to the usual ore deposits and you should find clay in the wall, with the odd bit of gold and gemstone in the clay territory too.

However, this is not the only way to get tin in Core Keeper. You can occasionally find Tin in containers while you’re out in the world. You can rarely get them in wooden boxes scattered throughout the clay and dirt biomes. When you get to the ruins biome, you can also find tin and other resources inside the cravings’ stone containers.

Lastly, you can also buy tin ore from the bearded trader. This unlocks once the game registers that the cavling vendor has arrived and you’re actively mining in the ruins biome. You can normally get ten ore, which typically costs around 15 Ancient Coins per one ore. The ore from the vendor refreshes, but we have not yet calculated the time it takes in full. Though, it seems to be around how long it takes for crops to grow.

Why do you need tin in Core Keeper?

Tin is a valuable item in Core Keeper and one you’re going to need to farm quite a lot. You need it to make tin anvils, armor, an alchemy table and a railway forge. Railway forges are an important part of the game, as tin is the primary metal you need to craft five railways. The world is very large, so crafting railway tracks is important for traversing the map.

So, you’re going to need to keep an eye on mining tin as you play through Core Keeper.

Also, you’re going to need to mine plenty of tin to make floor spike traps. This is a very good method of creating mob farms and even beating the second boss.
