There are a lot of things to do in Core Keeper, whether that is fighting, building or exploring the mysteries of this land. Throughout your journey, you’re going to need lots of materials, which can help you beast powerful bosses through a variety of means. Luckily for you, there are repeatable ways of farming certainly materials, especially those that drop from mobs. So, learning how to make mob farms in Core Keeper is a crucial farming strategy.
In many instances, you’re going to be farming a lot of slimes and larvae. Slimes in Core Keeper provide slime, a useful item that you can use for painting, and making potions at the Alchemy Lab. Meanwhile, Larvae provide fibres, which you can use to make furniture and armor pieces, along with harvesting meat for decent food recipes. Here is a guide on how to farm Larvae and Slimes in Core Keeper.
How to make Core Keeper Mob Farms
To make a Core Keeper mob farm, you’re going to need to harvest ground tiles. Throughout the world, you will find pools of slime on the floor called ground slime. You can harvest this by equipping a spade and scooping it into your inventory. Meanwhile, when you stumble upon larvae, you can pick up a pink substance on the ground that makes a shell noise when you step on it. Scooping up either of these items in an area prevents mobs from spawning, which you can use to your advantage.
You can then place these items down wherever you want, recreating mob spawns wherever you please. This is the absolute basics of how you create mob farms in Core Keeper. We recommend mining out a giant room, which you can then place your mob spawns on. After that, you’re going to want to place down spike traps, which you can craft using tin bars from the tin workbench. Thes traps automatically attack enemies who pass over them. So, you need a reliable way of funnelling enemies into them.
For Slimes, this is harder, as most slimes blob around, minus the hostile ones who attack players in range. We recommend scattering around spike traps throughout slime rooms to have the best ods of automatically slaying them
On the other hand, it is easy to make a larvae mob farm in Core Keeper. Larvae hate torches and will try their best to eat a torch. We recommend using torches as bait, forcing enemies to run in strict paths to the torches. Use this feature of the larvae to your advantage. Make those nasty larvae enemies run through spike traps. Alternatively, your presence will make them angry and you can run them through an even nastier funnel tunnel if you want to. Below is an example of a tunnel funnel we made for larvae mob farming.
Natural mob farms in Core Keeper
Throughout the world, you can naturally stumble upon areas that have high mob density. If you’re looking for slime farms, then the first boss can spawn a lot of slime. You can paint a part of the map with slime if you wanted to, turning that area into a massive slime farm once the boss is dead.
Moreso, Ghorm is a giant boss that manoeuvres through a tunnel, which is typically filled with slime. This boss will run anything over, meaning that players can mop up slime spawns that it devourers along its path.
In addition, the Hive Mother has a room fitted with larvae spawn. You could turn that area into a larvae mob farm too and come back if you wanted to.
