Arctic confirms AM5 cooler compatibility! Arctic is one of the worlds leading manufacturers of near-silent CPU coolers and is now the second company to announce AM5 cooler compatibility, alongside Noctua. Arctic’s CPU coolers are affordable, reliable and very well designed. Whether you have one of Arctic’s sleek air-based CPU coolers or silent AIO liquid coolers, its quality right across the board.
The press release
Award-winning company Arctic announced in a press release on Tuesday, April 19:
“AMD is expected to release the next-generation AMD Ryzen™ 7000 desktop processors (Zen 4) at the end of 2022. Since all mechanical dimensions remain identical, ARCTIC is able to guarantee compatibility with our coolers on AMD’s new processors.”
Arctic AM5 socket compatibility
It’s exciting to see companies start to confirm AM5 socket cooler compatibility, avoiding leaving users in the dark as to whether or not their current cooler is compatible with the upcoming hardware. After all, AMD’s announcement back at CES 2022 was a little vague regarding custom non-standard AM4 backplate compatibility.
We have since learned that non-standard AM4 backplates will NOT be compatible with the new AM5 socket. Only standardised brackets will fit. It’s said that cooler manufacturers will produce a backplate to fit the AM5 socket, but without an official announcement from the offending companies, it’s hard to say for sure.
Thankfully, you’re no longer in the dark regarding Arctic coolers. You can find a full list of AM5 compatible Arctic coolers on its website.
We’re certain cooler manufacturers will design coolers specifically for Ryzen Zen 4 CPUs, but for now, having one less component to replace can really help to trim a budget and cut down on build time.
