Against all odds, Skylum updates Luminar NEO with Image 3D Transform, improved Layers, and more

[ad_1]

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Russia attacked Ukraine in February. What does it have to do with Skylum and Luminar NEO, you may wonder? Well, Skylum is a Ukraine-based company. And in spite of everything, they’ve managed to update the recently announced Luminar NEO and add some awesome new features.

The new Luminar NEO 1.0.2 update is available now, and Skylum notes that their team has worked extra hard to deliver it to their users. “We’re committed to our goal – make amazing photo editing software that people can use to create powerful visual stories,” the team writes. So, what can you do in the update:

  • Sync your adjustments easily in the Catalog tab! The Copy and Paste functionality is here.
  • Use Image 3D Transform. If your image needs to be scaled or transformed, you can use the sliders of this tool to manually adjust perspective distortion.
  • Work with images in PNG format with alpha (transparency) in Layers
  • Enjoy the increase of Frame Per Second rate while using the drag slider on any of the effects
  • Add a folder and files using Add Photos on Windows

Other than the new and improved features, Skylum has also fixed some bugs so that Luminar NEO can run more smoothly.

How to update your Luminar Neo?

Make sure your app is updated so you can use all the new features:

On macOS, click on Luminar Neo in the top menu bar and choose Check for updates.

On Windows, click Luminar Neo in the top left-hand corner and choose Help > Check for updates.

The impact of the Russia-Ukraine war on Skylum

As you can probably imagine, the situation in Ukraine has affected Skylum in a variety of ways. The team has issued a statement writing about their current operations and future plans, and we’re sharing some of the information with you:

Team operations

For Skylum, the safety of our team members is our highest priority. We have already assembled a functional team of 88 people who are committed to making things work. In response to the war, some of our team members have also taken on new roles: helping with the transfer of people and their families to safe locations, delivering food and medicine, helping to settle in Western Ukraine or abroad, or assisting in other necessary ways. We are saving the position and salary for every teammate who serves in the army.

Product delivery

Despite everything, we will do our best as a company to continue our work for our partners and our community of photographers who rely on our products. Because of the circumstances, there might be delays in updates, but the team is committed to delivering the most value to you as soon as possible. Our product team is working with customers right now to upgrade and improve Luminar Neo, and we will do our best to share news and keep you updated. We’re grateful for your patience, support, and understanding. That said, today we’ll release a product update for Luminar Neo, so stay tuned!

Safety of your data

Rest assured that we securely host all of our infrastructure and user data on Amazon Web Services. All servers for this cloud service are located in the European Union and are not in Ukraine, so you can be confident that your data is securely stored. You can find more information on how Skylum collects and stores user data in our Privacy Policy.

Next steps

Despite everything, we’ll continue to stand strong and further develop all of our products. For our team members who have reached safety, working can become a solace from the constant worrying news. Our vision hasn’t changed one bit; we’ll continue to create products that you love and that empower everyone to tell the visual stories they’ve envisioned.

If you have any questions or difficulties with , make sure to contact Skylum’s support. And speaking of support, I’d like to share with you some ways to support Skylum (and other people of Ukraine) in these difficult times. Again, I “borrowed” the info from Skylum’s statement, and I thank them for putting all this helpful information in a single piece of writing:

The Skylum team notes that they’re brainstorming more activities to help Ukraine and they invite you to contact them if you have any suggestions.
