Acer Chromebook Spin 514 reveal: Ryzen 5000 series Chromebook

The new Acer Chromebook Spin 514 has been released, this is the first Chromebook to be released with the new AMD Ryzen 5000-C Series CPUs, designed specifically for Chromebooks in a collaboration between AMD and Acer.

The new Chromebook comes with a 14-inch 1080p IPS touch screen display, which has extra protection from scratches thanks to the Corning Gorilla Glass. It (reportedly) has a 100% sRGB color gamut, plus ultra-narrow 6.1mm (0.24 in) side bezels. The Chromebook comes with Wi-Fi 6, 2x USB Gen 2 Type-C ports, 1x HDMI, a Corning Gorilla Glass touchpad, and a (supposed) 10-hour battery life.

The Acer Chromebook Enterprise Spin 514 is essentially the business version of the device. They come with 24/7 tech support, plus (in Acer’s own words):

Safeguard users and data against ransomware, malware, and phishing threats with a read-only OS and encrypted devices. Each layer of Chrome OS’s vertically integrated stack reinforces security, while system-wide automatic updates future-proof your protection.’

• The Acer Chromebook Spin 514 release date is scheduled for Q3 in North American markets, though no details as yet of when it will be released in other regions. This will be for the Acer Chromebook Spin 514 (CP514-3H) model specifically.
