He…y this is a Chromecast. Setup is straightforward using Google Home. Works well and is a good purchase. Only odd thing is the included directions are in an oriental language…,still the onscreen prompts are in English, and all is OK.

I think google has a way to destroy products that you have in your home forcing you to purchase a new one. I had the original chromecast and used it sometimes when needed. A couple of months after google said they no longer support the old devices, mine stopped working completely giving me a red light and would not reset. Just like an old cell phone I had they somehow have the capabilities to brick your paid for products remotely.Anyway I was able to set this new one up smoothly and so far it works perfect.

It is nice being able to send whatever you are looking at on your phone to the big screen with a push of a button. Your phone is your remote. The USB and the HDMI can plug into the TV for both power and display, so no need to plug into the wall, saving outlet space. For some reason it started in Japanese, but pretty easy to put in English with a quick Google search.I think I fixed mine immediately by connecting to the Google Home app.You need the app to set it up after all.

This is my fourth device I purchased! I have one attached to all my tvs. I also buy them as presents to my family and friend.Saves me tons of money by letting me stream YouTube, PBS, Amazon Prime, Videa, Angel Studios, Disney Plus and other channels. It’s reliable and streaming is free. It’s a must to have!

Even though smart tv’s are able to cast things now, I still think Google casting works better most of the time. The biggest reason I got this is so I can tell Google to turn off and on the tv

Use this to watch a video stream from a smartphone, laptop or tablet on a smart TV. (Note that this version of the Chromecast only supports 1080p resolution. If your TV is better than that, get the latest version.)Plugs into your TV’s HDMI port and can be charged from the TV itself if the TV has a charging USB port.By selecting that HDMI port for the TV’s source, you can watch whatever you are sending to the chromecast device from your iphone etc.All the streaming apps will display a “cast” button that you can use to send them to the Chromecast. It doesn’t work well (if at all) from video players in browsers, but does work with various apps on an iphone like YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video. My instructions were all in Japanese, but it was simple enough to figure out how to use it without being able to read them.

When our old, first-generation Chromecast would not shift over to a new WiFi, and we could not get support (it was very, very old), a quick search turned up this 3rd-gen Chromecast. It arrived a day earlier than it was supposed to. The setup was relatively easy; fortunately, since there were no instructions in English. But it was easy to install–plug it into the HDMI port, insert the power cable into the cast unit and the other end into the transformer. Plug that into the outlet, and turn on the TV. The installation probably took all of 10 minutes total. One word of warning: you need to have or know the password for your WiFi.
