I really like this door alarm for how loud it is. I bought this after a security concern where I live, and it has not let me down. I can hear it going off from other rooms, which is exactly what I needed. I attached one of these to my front door and if the door is even slightly opened, the alarm is blaring. There also is a doorbell chime feature if that is something you would prefer during the day. If you’re looking for something loud that will likely scare any intruders away, this is the one for you! It’s affordable and extremely effective.

I purchased these alarms for my parents’ bedroom door; my father’s memory isn’t what it used to be and Mom was being kept up at night worrying about his wandering while she was asleep. So far I’ve only used one unit, but tested both and they work well. The “main” alarm sound is quite loud and I was concerned it would be too frightening if it went off unexpectedly (and requires someone to find the tiny on/off switch to silence it), so the unit I’m using is set for the “chime” sound; it’s plenty loud without being obnoxious or frightening, and it’s nice that it simply chimes and then is quiet again until the door is closed — which also automatically re-arms the alarm for the next time the door opens.I had some concerns about mounting the alarm on the bedroom door because the frame has some fluting carved into it and there’s a definite gap between the top of the door and the frame. However, I found a spot close to the hinge side of the door where door & frame lined up nicely, and even with nearly 1/4″ space between the alarm and its magnet there have been no problems.The one negative is that I had assumed some form of double-sided tape or hook-and-loop fastener was included, but the package contains only the two alarm units (batteries ARE included) & instructions. I used a long, thin piece of tape to attach the magnet to the door frame and two small pieces of tape on the back of the alarm to attach it to the door and so far all is well. I had to get a little creative with the shape of the tape for the magnet because there was so little flat area on the door frame, and used 2 small bits of tape for the alarm box because I didn’t want to cover the sticker with instructions for replacing the batteries. (It uses a stack of small “button” batteries, included.) Both the alarm & magnet are so light that very little tape is needed to hold them in place.Both my parents have commented that this little alarm is working without a glitch, and were relieved to learn they didn’t need to worry about having to find the tiny on/off switch in the wee hours of the morning if it’s kept on the “chime” setting. Even better, it’s one less worry to keep Mom awake at night, so we’re all happy with the product.

The first time I purchased these was after an incident I had involving my son who is about to enter kindergarten. He’s on the spectrum, and one night in the middle of the night he woke up, feeling anxious about walking to his bus stop (which he was never going to do alone!), but he decided sometime between 2 AM and 4:30 AM that it was necessary for him to see if he could do this by himself. I lived in a very large home with three large dogs and locks on all my doors, but my son’s bedroom was on one side of the house and I was on the other. My husband was in Afghanistan, so it was just me and the dogs and the kids. My son grabbed a few juice pouches, put on his sneakers by himself, climbed on a telephone book to unlock one of the locks on the door that were too high for him to reach, and left my home in the middle of the night, and walked down the street. Ever hear those stories about children with autism, drowning in ponds or getting hit by cars and people blame the parents for being inattentive? Nightmare! My son made it back into the house and to his bed without ever waking up me or the dogs. I only discovered his adventure because he didn’t take off one of his shoes, and left the empty juice pouches on the top of the garbage can in the kitchen, which obviously wasn’t normal. One of my dogs at the time was a gigantic and very watchful Rottweiler and usually when the kids woke up in the night the dogs would wake me if I didn’t already hear them. It didn’t happen. So what to do? I mean a parent has to sleep at some point in time – our bedrooms were on the second floor so I only needed a solution for exit doors. I found these and ordered a set right away. Installed them as soon as I got them. Put them up high and turned them on. They are absolutely ear piercing. The adhesion doesn’t come off. There are settings so that the door just chimes on opening or you can set it to the full on alarm. I didn’t have to change the batteries once in five years. And in a 7000 square-foot house, if I was in the basement, if I was in the backyard , if I was dead to the world asleep, I could hear the alarm. 15 years later, kids are grown, and I am in a smaller place in town on the ground floor and while I’m in a fairly safe area, the rear entry to my unit is obscure, and I know from having a security background that also makes it a great target. I bought another set of these, and have slept just fine ever since. They’re on my first floor doors and windows. It’s a nice inbetween if you don’t want a monitored service or a Ring on every door. Well worth the $ for the piece of mind.

Great for peace of mind or to disturb the peace! I’ve had these for a while. Only had a problem with one of them falling off.There are times I want to yank it off the door though when I forget that the alarm is set to on. Oops lol.

This two pack of door and window alarms are ideal for most people. They offer a practical solution if your door or window is opened when it should not be. Simple easy two-sided 3M tape places it securely where you need it. I will say this. To mount the alarm and the magnet, you must mount the alarm on the left side of your door facing it from inside. The magnetic piece would be to the right side of your door as you are facing it. For some reason they don’t make that very clear in the description of this product. It uses four coin type LR44 batteries in each of the units. Simple switch on the side of the door alarm lets you simply turn it off, set it to chime, or set it to alarm. No codes or numbers to press in. I highly recommend this to anybody seeking a simple solution to help keep their home more secure without spending a ton of money.
